Mekong Delta high speed boat tour
We had a hotel pick up as part of our tour. Checkin at ferry terminal was quick & we were on the boat with our guide, driver & 2 other assistants.
Seeing the river up close is an experience itself, but sadly it’s very polluted with rubbish from the shanty houses, shops & parks along the way in Saigon. There’s also lots of water hyacinth in the water ways which continually got caught in the high speed propellers & so about every 500m when going through it we had to stop & reverse to clear it. Our first stop was a private residence & the family were very friendly & even bought out 1 of their 2 pet pythons. We went for a walk through the village to see all the different fruit & veggies being grown. Back in the boat we headed for a temple & then a pagoda for schooling & care of kids. Back on the boat we went to another village & then jumped on a small row boat to make it to the pier & a short walk it was lunchtime & the Vietnamese food provided by another family was very good - so much food we couldn’t get through it all (7 on tour). We then jumped back on the boat & headed back to Saigon. We were provided a light breakfast, plenty of snacks, water, fruit, & coke throughout the day. Out tour guide was very informative, our driver & assistants were great helping us to get on / off the boat & serving food. The whole day was well organised & we had a great time - thank you!
