“nice & relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

this place has it all. 30 mins from the tunnel, 10 mins from saint omer, and nestled away in perfect tranquility in a sleepy village.
If you stay here you will get real value for money, the staff are excellent especially vincent in the bar. Walk around the grounds and relax in the pool, the choice is yours. The restaurant is superb, not a lot of choice yet due to a new chef settling in, but plenty to enjoy and savour.
Easy to find, and 10 mins south into saint omer. This is a real pretty town to expore and so easy to park.
I would highly recommend this chateau, real class

Room Tip: all the rooms are good, and totally peaceful

Called in for what we hoped would be a good lunch to be served with what would only be deemed average at any 'conference' venue.
Starter of gambas (warm from fast-defrostng?) on chopped tomato with green leaves. Bland to the point of tasteless. I had filet de boeuf with what sounded to be an innovative garnish and accompaniment. Whilst the steak was cooked accurately (rare) the rest which had indeed read so well, was, as the starter, totally bland. My wife had a confit of trout which was acceptable but the 'oriental' sauces were again a let down with little or no discernable flavour. We had had two half bottles of modest wine but decided the desserts would be another let-down do just had coffees - these were good.
The decor and ambiance were very pleasant but the restaurant had only two other tables occupied (I wonder why?) but our bill was €149! We could have eaten superbly at any one of 20 restaurants in the area up to Michelin star level (Wimereux) for that rather than be served food that one might forgive at a mass-catered event like a company conference.
Very disappointing to find this much-vaunted Chateau retreat is all sizzle & no sausage!! Give it a miss....

Stayed here for one night on the way back to the UK from France. The room was bright and nicely decorated, although the bathroom was a bit basic. Booked a half-board package, so dinner and breakfast was included, which was good value for money. The 3-course dinner was excellent, and service in the restaurant friendly and efficient. Although not far from the motorway, the setting is peaceful and quiet, and surrounded by pretty grounds. Would definitely consider staying here again en route from/to the UK.

Just got back from a short trip here for my wifes Birthday. Very picturesque building & setting.
Not far from Saint Omer if u need shops etc.
Very clean. Didn't have dinner in restaurant but after the quality of the buffet breakfast we were given I'd have no concerns about having my evening meal here next time instead of going into SO.

There are a number of such hotels within 50 miles of Calais and Boulogne and this is one of the best. There is a main house (with pleasant and spacious bar, reception and some rooms), stable block (with restairant and function rooms) and a modern accomodation block was adjacent indoor pool. The rooms in the modern block are well appointed, but lack air conditioning. They have small balconies, or terraces and there are extensive grounds. The small lake (with some stagnant water) is no problem, save in high summer. Everywhere is well maintained and the staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is good, but perhaps ought to aim a little higher: dishes are well presented, but not particularly exciting, which is a shame, because they clearly have a customer base which would pay for a little more creativity. Perhaps they could abandon the Menu Gourmand (which appears little different from the other prix fixe menu) and try for something more ambitious. If you want to stop short of the channel, or pop over for a weekend in France this is a good choice, although I think its sister establishment (Hotel Clery) probably has the edge.

Stayed here at the start of March. Beautifull old building and we had a lovely room at the top of the chateau, with a new ensuite bathroom.
An interesting area with so much history.
Our only complaint was the wifi very intermitant in the room. Was ok in the bar though :-).

Absolutely no complaints about this hotel. Have stayed here now on an number of occasions. Each time the staff are at pains to do all they can to make your stay a pleasant experience. Rooms are fantastic. Especially like the 'Mezzanine Rooms' in the Pavilion Block, which are great if you have small childen travelling with you. Location is extremely convenient for Calais. We've used it a lot as a staging post for trips to Switzerland, South of France and Italy. Get a late channel crossing, crash into bed at Chateau Tilques, and be fresh as a daisy for your drive south next morning, allowing yourself to avoid the early morning madness on the channel crossings. Also good in reverse.... Have a restful night at Chateau Tilques after a long drive from the South/East, and give yourself chance to have a relaxed morning crossing from Calais/Boulogne next morning after a lovely typically french leisurely breakfast, or a walk in the grounds of Chateau Tilques amidst the colourful and beautiful peacocks!
