Having arrived early evening we took a short drive to Riberac and decided to eat at the
Restaurant Le Vietnam where the service was superb and the food was sooo tasty!
We chilled the following day; able to enjoy the pool even though it was last week in October. Third day we decided to drive to Perigueux and spent a good couple of hours wandering around medieval lanes, shops and squares followed by a fantastic dinner in a small Indian restaurant called Chez Manija. As we walked back to the car the cathedral was all lit up as it was now night time - what a sight to behold it looked absolutely stunning. When we got back we lay on the sun loungers and did some star gazing as it was a clear night, amazing!
Day four was spent chilling in the side garden with a bottle of locally bought wine and enjoying a barbecue which my husband and sons took control of.
Day five we drove to Bordeilles with its gorgeous river setting with chateau and cafes/ restaurants, then a further five minute drive on to Brantome. This place just took my breath away with its beautiful river setting and Abbey. We walked around with shops, restaurants and bakery with artisan breads. Fabulous place to picnic on the river bank while watching the kayaking, something we hope to do this year as we've already booked a return visit again!
Day six and my son enjoyed some archery with the owner Alex who has got my son into this fab sport.

I had a great week out here, the place itself is clean, tastefully decorated with amazing views of the French countryside.
There are plenty of places to visit and the owners have great local knowledge making great suggestions dependent on what we wanted to do that day.
I particularly appreciated the welcome basket , bikes available to go off and explore and the secluded garden the gite has to itself with table and chairs. I felt very chilled out after only few hours of being there just perfect.
