“The only one hotel that opened its doors after midnight”

Very pleased to have stayed in this small and very warmfull hotel. Thanks to the owner - a very kind and attentive lady - we could check-in after midnight without booking it in advance. The landscapes around are marvelous! And the breakfast truly french.

We found Le Moulin du Birat by chance, just walking through the village of Saint Vincent du Cosse. What a charming and beautiful place. We extended our stay because our room ( the Lavendar Room) with terrace overlooking Dordogne valley and the Chateau Milandes was so comfortable and relaxed.
Madame Francoise is very friendly and made us feel at home. Breakfast on the terrace was so romantic.Every morning fresh croissants and great coffee whilst looking across the valley framed by petunias and geraniums!
We agree wholeheartedly with the review from Ros. This is a very special place and great value.
Best for travelers with a car so you can explore all the sights close by. Beynac castle is a must and even though we are 50 years plus, we had a ball canoeing down the Dordogne. We will return.

Room Tip: The Lavendar room has a beautiful view and terrace.

Lovely room with separate private entrance as if it were a whole house, with balcony to enjoy a bottle of wine overlooking the beautiful 5 castles landscape in the Dordogne Valley. The River Dordogne is to be enjoyed later with a Gabarre Boat Ride. Lovely gardens with terraces and waterfalls to enjoy breakfast and Francoise provided fresh fruits and conserves from the garden with fresh croissants and breads from the local superb patisserie in Beynac The owner, Francoise, respects your privacy, and it actually feels as if you have the whole manor to yourself. Fancy being on an original Roman Road!!! Enjoy seeing and understanding the Walnut farmers who are delightful; corn and sunflowers at your fingertips. On our last day the hot air balloons suddenly rose in front of us whilst we were having our dinner on the higher terrace which has a commanding view over the valley. I thought I had the best accommodation in a small hamlet nearby last time, but this is value, particularly when you have the comfie bed and lovely breakfasts. This has got to be the best kept secret ever!! Value for $. Beynac Castle is the best castle I have ever entered - it has been restored as if it was back to 15th Century where Richard the Lionheart was locked up - your eyes take five minutes to adjust to the pigfat burning lanterns; it is as if you are living in 15th C. Excellent preservation in private hands - views are outstanding and you can understand history of wars from one side of Dordogne Valley to the other. This is the best position to explore the Perigord /Lot Departments from; Don't miss Roque Gagenac, Domme, Perigord de Villefranche, Montpazier, Belves, Brantome, St. Genies (eat at 4th generation La Vielle Auberge), Rocquemadour, Roque St Christophe, Roufrrinac Cave. Ask Francoise to see over Le Moulin if you can't stay there - great kitchen outfit. Eat only at La Petite Tonnelle in Beynac - amazing French food. Beynac was the site for film "Chocolat", which I saw en route home to Australia, which was the added bonus. Enjoy the best of France and I feel very lucky.

Room Tip: Tangerine room, or the Mill Le Moulin value for $
