“interesting chateau”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

We enjoyed the variety of Chateaux in the Loire and this was another quite different one. Outside it was a very typical chateau on the banks of the Loire.... beautiful! We were greeted by a very friendly young lady. the inside revealed displays of the life on the Loire in the past... hi tech light shows and beautifully mounted display cases of artefacts. Views from the turrets were spectacular.
The village is beautiful and the boulangerie did great sandwiches which we could eat on the banks of the loire.
Well worth a visit

Hi IWard102,
Thanks a lot for your interesting comment.
Indeed, the château has an exceptional location, between the Loire and troglodyte cellars, vineyard and just between the beautiful cities of Saumur and Tours.
Hope that you enjoy your holiday in Anjou area,
Best regards,
Aline

This was another gem on the Loire.
the reception gave us great welcome. the chateau had been well restored and had a wealth of interesting and well presented hi-tec displays of life in the past on the Loire.

Thank you for your visit and the publication on trip advisor. The chateau of Montsoreau is the only one on the Loire, and the best place to discover and take picture of the river
Hope you enjoy your holidays on the Loire Valley.

“Great Views But That's It!”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Lovely chateau on the outside, great service by a very friendly young woman, but pretty sparse interior. It did have this very interesting light show with some mannequins and female medieval dresses being projected onto them (I really liked this). But that was all in the interior. Fab views over the Loire. But for what is in the chateau, it definitely isn't worth €8.90 for a single adult. I paid €11.00 to get into Chenonceau and I was there for 3 hours longer than this place (total visit 40 minutes). If you want to pay for the views, this will more than please you, but expect nothing from the interior.

“River History”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

The Chateau de Montsoreau is a beautiful castle in good repair. Visiters climb from the basement, to the main halls, to the roof terraces, where there is an awesome view of the Loire and town of Montsoreau. The castle is unfurnished and the records of the castle’s history have been lost. Instead of showing what castle life was like, there are wonderful displays that explain the history of the Loire River’s commerce and environmental patterns. I was glad to see this chateau before I saw others that were more developed historically. Visitors are given a pamphlet with explanations of each room written in their native language. There are also short descriptions in English on plaques in each room.

Montsoreau is in a great wine producing area. After touring the castle, visitors get a free wine tasting.
