“The Perfect Family Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2010

We stayed here with our daughters, aged 8 and 9, for two weeks in August - and it was the perfect holiday. There are three gites on site and we stayed in the excellent Vestry which was superb - clean, bright and with superb kitchen facilities.
The owners, Phil and Penny, live on site and were superb throughout our stay. The pool, just ten feet from our front door, was fantastic for the girls who are competent swimmers. What made the stay extra special however were the surroundings. Set on a site of more than an acre, the girls could explore the area safely, playing on the swings or collecting eggs from the hens - or picking tomatoes from the fantastic gardens for lunch. Many evenings were spent walking through the local countryside, which is dotted with sunflower fields. Or just watching the gliders overhead which had taken off from the nearby airfield. The gites are easy to find - a nice 40 minute drive north of Toulouse. Le Jardin Du Cure is set in a pretty hamlet just outside Graulhet which has lots of great supermarkets, bakeries and markets a couple of days per week. We enjoyed the happy relaxed atmosphere of the place and when we did want to explore further, the stunning Cathedral town of Albi is a short drive away with its superb shops, restaurants and museums - and of course its incredible medieval catherdral. There is a fantastic open air waterpark at nearby Lautrec (15 mins drive and 14 euro for a family day pass). Castres is a bit further away but definitely worth a visit and if you are lucky enough to be there on the first weekend of August you shouldn't miss the Galliac wine festival which finishes with an open air concert and an amazing fireworks display. This is a beautiful part of south west France and the Tarn region (in the area known as the Land of Plenty) is a great place to get away from it all, whatever the time of year. Great for families or for people of all ages, Le Jardin du Cure is the perfect base - whether you want to relax and get away from it all, or whether you want to tour the amazing historic towns and villages of the region. We had the perfect family holiday.
