“Best hospitality in Sicily”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2008

We stayed at the Hotel Costazzurra in September for a night and regret to this day that we did not stay longer. Run by a warm, thoughtful, and friendly family, this location exceeded our expectations in almost every way. We would come back here to spend more time exploring the beaches and town.

  • Liked — The family who ran the business, the restaurant
  • Disliked — The refrigerator in our room was not cold enough.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of August. The hotel itself is quite modern and we found the staff excellent - very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean, but the furnishings could have been better - and the views were not exactly inspiring. However, the service and food were good. There is free secure parking just across the road from the hotel and the beach is about a 10 minute walk.
If visiting Agrigento again, we would probably return. to this hotel.

  • Liked — Friendly and helpful staff - good service.
  • Disliked — Room furnishings and views.

This hotel, in San Leone (About 15 minutes drive from Agrigento train station) was very pleasant. Salvatore, his brother, father and wife were all very friendly and helpful, along with Guiseppe in the bar/restaurant. The room was nice, with a fridge and balcony (not a great view mind you)! More than big enough and cleaned every day. My wife and I like to do our own thing and they were never imposing but always available for travel advice, recommending somewhere to visit or eat. We stayed for a week and et in the hotel restaurant 4 times. You can of course eat in a pizzeria for a lot less, but the food was really great. Authentic sicilian. The complimentary Hor dourves were great, along with the wine list. It was about 50 euros for two but great value including wine. With the service you get, this is a 4 star hotel.

We try to find places with the sun, sea and sand along with places to visit and Agrigento was ideal. The beach was large and about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. It was only ten minutes from the Valley of the temples by the regular bus service which are a must see. All the shops and bars were friendly and helpful with tickets etc. The local ice cream is the best we've tried.
In the local bars, the complimentary snacks with your drink s are amazing (try the place with the sofas!).
Finally, Salvatore and his wife gave us a lift to the station in Agrigento to get the train. They wouldn't except payment, and gave us a bottle of wine to take with us. This was a great touch.

From the first step into the Hotel Costazzurra, my wife and I were made to feel like we were in the home of friends. Full of information and advice of places to go and see, the staff were efficient and helpful. We would definitely return to Costazzurra when we are in Sicily again.
A big thanks to the staff of Hotel Costazzurra.

This hotel is in a great location - walking distance to the waterfront with good restaurants and views. And most importantly it is so close to the temples! What an experience to see those beautiful buildings and the wonderful view.
The proprietors of the hotel were excellent. The son who spoke excellent English greeted us with a special Greek wine crafted locally, and he showed us a video of the sights in the area. His father showed us where to park and helped us with our luggage. We drove there with no reservations and stayed two nights in a lovely room with a balcony. We enjoyed the dinner in their dining room as well as the breakfasts. It was an experience we will always remember.

A nice, friendly hotel in the small seaside suburb of San Leone, near Agrigento. We stayed overnight in order to see the fantastic Valley of the Temples. Hotel is friendly and clean, the room was fine, and there is free parking in a secure area. Our main objection is that the hotel is a bit of walk from the seafront, and do NOT go to San Leone expecting a beach resort - the seafront in the town is pretty awful.

Good points: Friendly service with good English, clean, good parking, easy to find, OK breakfast.
Bad points: Noisy, unattractive road in area full of barking dogs. I was also given a tiny single room with no balcony, despite only a few people staying at the hotel. It makes no difference to them, so why do it? It really annoys me and means they get a negative score on Tripadvisor! The hotel website states that ALL rooms have balconies. There was also quite a bit of noise from the corridor (my bed head was right up by the door as the room was so tiny) and I was woken up by a TV upstairs.
San Leone is a run-down, scruffy place with an unattractive seafront, though there are several nice restaurants. I wouldn't want to spend more than a night or two here.
By the way, the hotel shell next door is still just that!
