Kiwarrak Country Retreat
Reviewed 6 September 2013

This glorious little establishment is a few kilometers down dirt road, and all you can hear all night is the lovely peaceful sounds of the bush. We came here by simple chance that it popped up on voucher site, and what a lovely delight it was.
We stayed in the Parisian style Bower cottage, and very much enjoyed the spa. The hosts put lovely chocolates, rose petals, and candles everywhere to make our stay incredibly romantic. A cute little breakfast hamper awaited us in the very well equipped kitchen. The lounge is purpose built for snuggles, and the fire, although not entirely needed when we stayed, was a genuine delight. The SHEETS! OMG The sheets they have on the bed (the mattress itself not that great, but I'm picky there) are very nice and I wish I had asked what brand they were! The entire cottage space has been well used, and is perfect for a couple.
The hosts were extremely helpful, and pointed us in the right direction to take our kayaks out. They also recommended a local restaurant Flow which was delicious.
A fully stocked DVD cabinet was well used by us, so we could stay in during the night and enjoy some down time.
The grounds are spectacular, and were in full blossom when we were there.
Very recommended for a weekend of snuggles, and escape from the hustle of working life.

Room Tip: The Bower has the spa and overlooks the lovely dam.

We stayed 3 nights at Kiwarrak for our honeymoon -it was the perfect escape after the wedding madness- peaceful and secluded. The studio was very clean, with charming decor, and the outdoor spa was heaven. We hope to visit again!

Stayed here two nights, first weekend in August. This is an excellent, value for money and very clean guest house. Attention to detail makes for a pefect stay including fire place and spa ready on arrival which is lovely in the middle of winter. Nothing is too much trouble for owners Meg and Steve. Hope to visit again!

Stayed here for one night in The Bower. Very clean accomodation which could not be faulted. Usually there is at least one negative about accomodation but not for this place. Coming from the city it was good to have a quiet nights sleep with only the animals around to make noise. The breakfast hamper was a good inclusion. Enjoyed the fireplace and having it ready to light on arrival was great. WIll defintitely be back again but for a longer stay next time.

We had a wonderful two nights stay in The Bower...... busy doing nothing. The accommodation was exceptional and the well maintained grounds, the outlook of the dam and the wildlife just added to the experience. A glass or two of wine, the wood fire on a cold night and the amazing spa helped to make it a memorable experience. We will be back!

Room Tip: The Bower is for couple only

We stayed in the bower. Was a nice studio. The 2 bedroom studio looks good also for familys. Big grass area for kids to play, some sports equipment in the carport to use as well.
Sitting in the spa looking out of the dam and bush was perfect.
The extra's like a couples massage is great. A must do if you want to relax and wind down.
Only 3 hrs from Sydney, plenty to explore around the area. Some stunning costal views.
Couldn't falt anything about this place. If your looking for an escape for an romantic weekend, go to this place. Some candles, champane and strawberrys in the spa and your set for a relaxing night.
From the reviews in the guest book, everyone who stays there is happy. The owners have done a good job doing it up in the past 1-2 years.
Either do your shopping before you leave home, or go into taree or old bar (10 mins drive). And you only need to leave the place to go to the beach or go exploring the local area.
The breakfast hamper was good, nice fresh local food. Loved the eco friendly aspect of the place as well. Wonderful hosts, very nice and very helpful.
It feels like you are in the middle of the bush, but the town and beaches are not far away.
Best rural country accomodation we have stayed in ever.

The dirt/gravel roads going into the place were fine, even after the big storm that did alot of damadge around the area. We used the road from the pacfic hwy and into town, few pot holes, but just go slower, its not a highway they are forest roads. But this adds to country feel.

There is no aircon, but jumping in the spa will cool you down, we didn't find it to bad and we had 30 degree days, but if you live in aircon 24/7 this could be an issue for some. In the colder months they have a wood fire.

Room Tip: We went midweek, there was no one next door in the 2 bedroom cotage. It might not be as good with so...

This is one of the cleanest place we've stayed in - gorgeous decor. Spa lovely, BBQ worked well!
No one was next door to us during our 2 night stay, so I'm not sure if it becomes noisier with other guests using the garden (we were in The Bower - the smaller of the 2). Very romantic, loved the fire place.

Room Tip: Check if the other dwelling is booked.
