“An excellent restaurant and hotel in a very tranquil setting”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Previously we had only eaten at the well managed restaurant but, after looking at the rooms last year, stayed in the hotel in June.

The room was spacious and well appointed and had a balcony overlooking the Mosel.

It was a very peaceful setting yet not deserted.

The meals were very well prepared and served with a good breakfast buffet to start the day.

Overall it is a nice family run hotel with very friendly and efficient staff.

We are returning in September and are already looking forward to the visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Mosel river for a delightful view of the "sleepy" river

We are a married couple in our 60s and well traveled. We generally prefer the smaller hotels and B&Bs for their character.

Location on the Mosel River: excellent. Town of Kroev: very good (between Bernkastel and Zell). Our timing of April 2014: very good with respect to not many tourists but it makes for fewer hotels and restaurants being available. Pricing of Panorama: good = about normal at 90 Euros for bed & breakfast. We ate dinner in the restaurant. It was "OK" but not superb. Breakfast was ample, also "OK" but not superb. Our room on the top floor, northern corner was excellent. (Note: no elevator.) We sat on the balcony overlooking the river (a stone's throw away), sipping Mosel wine and watching the barges pass by. There is only a grassy area between the hotel and the water. This room had a lot of glass which allowed for some noise from the street but not bad, in our opinion. Good beds (important!). We've experienced some bad ones in our travels. Lighting in the bathroom/ WC was weak but that seems pretty normal. There was a small fridge in the room which we un-plugged for the night to avoid the noise. Parking was free and ample. It was a tad odd to leave the building (go outside) and re-enter for the restaurant/breakfast but nothing imposing. The host and hostess (owners?) were very friendly and helpful. She spoke sufficient English to answer our questions and make us feel welcome and comfortable. This was our first stay and we would return again based on our experience. We'd also TRY another restaurant in the village mostly for the variety.

Room Tip: I don't know if there were any rooms on the "street" side but ask (to be sure) if you...

we could see this spacious restaurant from mont royal and went down to have a look . we stopped for a coffee and cake and well to say it was the best we had tasted for a few years was a understatement . clean you could eat off the floors all facilities where brilliant service was fantastic and they looked as clean as the place . why can not all places be this good?

During our recent trip to Krov we ate in the restaurant as we have several times during our many trips to Krov over the years.

As usual we we delighted with the quality and value of the food and particularly enjoyed "taking tea" on the terrace and watching the Mosel slowly flow along with its occasional very long barges and cruise boats.

The staff are delightful, attentive but not intrusive.

We asked to see the rooms and the owners were only too pleased to show us around.

The rooms were spacious and clean and we have already booked for 2014 in a room with a balcony overlooking the river so that we can enjoy the peace and quiet of Krov.

This will not be in festival time when the town becomes, well, festive with cultural groups from all over Europe celebrating Krov's "trachtenfest".

Room Tip: Overlooking the Mosel from a room with a sunny balcony may appeal to many.

We had dinner in this restaurant and everything was perfect. The very friendly lady that served us make you feel happy and welcome and the excellent food they offer will fill you. Parkingspace is huge and off-street. If we would stay in Krov we would choose this B and B!
The menu didn't give that much choice, so eating out here for 5 days will make that you start repeating and eating the same dinners. That is the only thing I can mention that needs some improvement, like bigger choice of vegetables and potatoes. Choice of meat is excellent.

Room Tip: There are no bath tubs, only showers in the rooms.

Restaurant and Pension Panorama Krov in the Moselle Valley

My partner and I move on to here from our stay in St. Goar in the Rhine Valley. Unlike our first destination we had not booked anywhere to stay. When we arrived we had a walk round the town, looked at a few of the Hotels and decided to ask for a room at the Restaurant and Pension Panorama, thank goodness they had a vacancy. The setting was excellent right on the banks of the River Moselle. The family Drosos own and run the Pension and although I do not think they were used to using English very much and with our limited German we were still able to get on very well, with them. Had we been able to stay longer I think our German would have improved. The Pension itself was modern and very clean and had rooms with or without river views as well as with or without balconies. Our room had both a river view and a balcony and was large with a T.V. and fridge. Meals were taken in the restaurant or on the terrace that overlooked the river. Breakfast was continental but buffet style with a good choice of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs fried or boiled, cereals, jams and fruit juice with a choice of beverage. The menu for Lunches and Evening Meals had a wide choice of dishes and was reasonably price. Their cool cabinet of cakes looked very tempting. We would like to thank Lydia and Dimitri, as well as the staff you never see, for looking after us and their Pension is definitely one we will return to in the future.
