“Plaza Almijara”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

A beautiful Spanish Plaza which is over shadowed by a beautiful Church which is well worth a look round, In the Plaza there are three Cafe/Restaurants. each one providing service of the highest standard. As a Competa resident I can think of no nicer place to sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.If you could award 6 Stars this place would deserve them all

“The real meaning of `town centre'!”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

As others have said, great tapas and several cafe/bars to choose from. Great for a coffee mid morning and to listen to the church bells at noon. Most walk here, some brave souls drive (no parking in the actual Plaza - it's far too small with room for 3 taxi's) and while we were sipping three horsemen came in for beer and crisps in the saddle. Fantastic place to people watch.

“Relaxing and enjoying life in Competa”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Still there is little places that the world has not discovered yet. After a visit in Frigiliana with lots of people and much caos it was really nice to visit in Competa. It was very nice to sit at Plaza Almijara. Peopple are so friendly here and the food and service is good. Not expensive at all. It felt good to stop here first for a cold beer at the bar R La Vendimia and looking at the hanging terrace house just outside where we sat, Amazing to see. Walking around and see all the narrow streets with all the lovely flowers blooming and the wonderful colours they have on their houses.

“Plaza Almijara for Chillaxin!”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

The Village of Competa is Lovely... And if you want somewhere to sit down and chillax for a while the Plaza Almijara is great. The Bars aren't that expensive, the Tapas is cheap and the pace is slow :O)

“Picture Perfect”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

This is the main square in Competa; there are others dotted around. Super little place to chill out with a drink or a plate of tapas. The church is here, as are a few restaurants and shops. This must be one of the most photographed spots around. It is the hub of the town during the evenings, and you can pick up a taxi from here if you need to. When it is Noches del Vinos the square is taken over by chairs in anticipation of the evening's concerts on the temporary stage just in front of the church. There are often locals of advanced age dancing to Andalucian music provided by the various musicians who perform in the square. Like I said, a very interesting place to sit and watch the world go by.
