The villa is situated on the outskirts of Competa a lovely village on a hillside that has plentiful excellent restaurants and shops. The good views from the villa are across a valley and the pool is full of sun by 9am which then stays all day. The facilities in the villa are good and plentiful, they make good use of Ikea ! One big issue for me was no air conditioning as it was a warm 30c during the day and hot at night. Fans are supplied in every room but noisy during the still of night. The bedrooms are sparse but of a reasonable size, the beds were firm but comfortable, pure cotton sheets etc would have been nicer than the poly/cotton supplied. The main bathroom has a shower over the bath with a long shower curtain, the bathroom needs a small table or locker to place wash bag etc. Very good water pressure and constant hot water. The patio areas are not overlooked and well equipped with 6 sunbeds and 2 sets of outside table/chairs. The driveway down to the villa is very, very steep but concreted. Overall a lovely villa
Just returned from an excellent two weeks in Casa Mari Carmen with my wife and two grown up children. We have stayed in a number of villas in the Competa area in recent years and this one is certainly one of the best yet.
The villa is situated in a " suburb " on the edge of Competa with nice views across the valley and to the sea in the distance. Thereare a number of surrounding villas but the outside areas are not overlooked and it is very private and quiet. Access is by a concrete road - no tracks . The approach road is steep but not difficult - just need to keep your foot down on the way back up ! It is possible to walk into Competa but you do need to be relatively fit - you could always stop half way at the local spanish bar which does good beer and tapas.
The villa itself is clean and well equipped with everything you might need both inside and out. The pool and terrace is south facing and gets the sun all day long while the covered terrace is perfect for lunch or a nice glass of wine in the evening. My biggest problem was persuading my family to leave the villa to go anywhere!
Competa itself is a pretty " white village "with a good range of restaurants and cafes to eat or just sip a drink and watch the world go by. Worth a trip to the market on Saturday and then a beer on the terrace of Hotel Balcon to enjoy the view to the sea .
One recommendation if you have never driven in this part of Spain before - the road from Torrox to Competa ( JNCT 272 ) of the motorway slightly less scary than the one through Algorrobbo and Sayalonga!
As I said we have stayed in villas around Competa before and this is the first that we all have said we will come back. I would thoroughly recommend it for a pleasant relaxing holiday
