“Perfect Venue for a family break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

When you hear the saying you get what you pay for, a loot of times that is exactly the case, however after getting a cracking deal on the room, I found out that I had booked the wrong date. I telephoned the hotel and they changed the date for me to the correct one (daydreaming at booking point). If you have not been to this hotel before, pulling up to the entrance of the hotel, the views were stunning looking and they got better the further you got in to the hotel with a wonderful view across the Mersey. The room was well suited for our family group. The hotel had a lovely pool with kiddies section which our little boy loved. Our breakfast was included in the room rate and was hot and tasty. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. they made us feel that we were the only ones in the hotel (which we weren't).

Dear MarkPJoy

Thank you for posting your recent review on Trip Advisor

I was delighted to read that you found us to be a Perfect Venue for a family break, and that you believe that you got a cracking deal including breakfast for your stay.

We are so very lucky with our location sat on top of Frodsham Hill, yet close to all that the North West has to offer, the Views over the Mersey Estuary really are quite breath taking we ourselves never tire of them.

I'm pleased that your little boy enjoyed the pool and that you found the bedroom well suited for your family.

It will be my pleasure to pass on your kind comments to all the team here at the Best Western Forest Hills Hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future, keep an eye on our website for the cracking deals that we have planned for the rest of the year.

Kind Regards
Kieran McCabe

We booked a wedding meal for 50 people. There was a choice of 3 dishes for each of 3 courses (pre-booked). The meals and the hotel performance were mediocre at best.
My pasta and chorizo started was only just warm. Mt sole main dish was serves with the sole I little rolls - very decorative, but so dry as to be almost edible. My Belgian waffle was hard, and was missing the chocolate sauce it should have had. Many of our friends and family has similar poor food. We had wanted a special meal for our friends and family to help us celebrate, but it was very far from special.

We had to ask for our wedding cake to be brought out. When it arrived, they cut it, but did not provide side plates for the cake. We had to ask for those.

I had printed a list of who ordered what (by table) so that I could remind people what they had ordered, and guide the waiters. The Maitre d' took the list, so that he could organise this. He then disappeared somewhere with the list, so that neither I nor the staff knew who ordered what. Forest Hills has been given this list 2 weeks beforehand, but it seems they did nothing with it. They should not have relied on my list.

Attempts were made to charge some of our guests at the bar, despite our putting over £300 behind the bar. It had not run out.

The list goes on. This hotel is fine to eat at if you just book a meal for 2 or 3 people (and we have). But for large parties, they do not cope. I know that they had another wedding party going on. Let's hope they had better treatment than we had.

Room Tip: We didn't stay overnight. Meal only.

Dear Roger H

Firstly I would like to offer you our most sincere apologies for the problems you encountered during your recent visit to the Best Western Forest Hills Hotel.

I have spoken to Chris who was the Duty Manger for your wedding; he was not aware of any problems with the food on the day and is very disappointed to hear that you had issues.

We have many wedding and banqueting events and one of the main comments we receive are about how lovely the food is; it is very rare that we receive poor comments about the standard of our food or the levels of service we offer especially to our wedding guests.

With regards to guests paying for drinks, Chris has been through the till and no money had been taken for drinks, all drinks had been charged to the main account, Chris has mentioned that the bar was also open to residents therefore you may have seen the bar man taking money for residents drinks but not for your wedding guests.

I am sorry to hear that you would not come to the hotel in the future, however if you change your mind and you would like to come back I can assure you that you would receive our full attention.

Yours Sincerely
Kieran McCabe

Chose this hotel due to it allowing pets and its close proximity to Manley Mere Adventure Trail where we were planning to visit. What a lovely dog friendly hotel. From the moment we walked in, nothing was too much trouble. Gift of sweets for the kids, treats and a new ball for the dog, spacious room with proper beds for both kids, fantastic swimming pool and gym, delicious food for both dinner and breakfast and the whole package value for money. Will definitely be returning when visiting the area again.

No lift very far from the Village no AC in any rooms rude staff doors banging all night cob webs on all the garden furniture . I would never stay there again or recommend anyone to stay The Holiday Inn Runcorn much better and superior staff. I was totally dissatisfied with our stay. The hotel is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as it is on a very steep hill with no other way to access without a car. . not good for older couples. .They have a lot of land but no golf course which seems a bit ridiculous

Dear Mr Kimuli S

Thank you for posting your review on Trip Advisor.

I take on board your comments but do not agree with them we are a bit off the beaten track but we believe that is one of our unique selling points as the views are really incredible, guests with walking difficulties can request a room on the reception level of the hotel where everything can be easily reached, and if necessary assistance, help and support is offered if requested or needed.

No we don't have air conditioning in the hotel bedrooms, the hotel was built many years ago although we do offer fans to guests who require or request them but we do have air conditioning in all our public function rooms and Restaurant.

The noise from banging doors would of been guests returning to their rooms after a function I would like to apologise for that, if we had of been informed we would of asked guests to be quite and respectful of other guests on the premises.

Yes we do have a lot of land in and around the building but not enough for a golf course! Frodsham Golf Club is adjacent to us less than five minutes from our main door.

It was a shame that we were not given the opportunity to address certain details concerning your stay before checkout. We may not of been to your liking but we are to many visiting guests and clients that over the years have returned time and time again the positive reviews reflect that that future guests and clients can read for themselves.

Sincerely
Kieran McCabe
