When entering the heathercliffe hotel we were pleasantly greated by staff who helped us book in and make dinner arrangements. The room was extremely well equipped and the bathroom was immaculate. Dinner was served promptly and the quality was to an excellent standard, as was breakfast in the morning.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and if I am in the vicinity will certainly be staying at the Heathercliffe again!!!

The room was gloomy and poorly-furnished although the bathroom was large and modern. There was a dreadful plastic mattress protector which made us feel we were sleeping on bubble-wrap and we had to get up at 3 am to remove it.
Our meal was fine. The lounge and stairs had a slight nursing home odour which wasn't too welcoming. There was no hairdryer although we got one when we asked.
The proprietor whilst very jolly had not the slightest interest in our comments and told us these mattress covers were mandatory .
Not what I would could call a country house hotel and certainly not 4 star

Looked at previous reviews on here, and had to go to Frodsham from a trip to Manchester. Not my idea of an area to stay, but this hotel was fine. A bit 1930's, but that is in keeping with the house, and the owner has not spoilt its features. Room was fine ( a four poster), and in particular the very good bathroom. Very clean and warm throutghout. Food was Ok and interesting if some rather strange combinations ( anchovies in the ceaser salad is new to me !). However the welcome was superb, and the ownwer and staff could not do enough to assist us and meet our neets. Full points for customer service, as this is how it should be. We would return.

A large and very comfortable room. Nice food and very helpful staff. Recommended!

A bit off the beaten track, but it has the benefits of being very quiet and in beautiful surroundings.

We came across this lovely hotel when we visited the UK last year - night had fallen and we were tired and desperate for a place to stay and had gone off the main road and went back and forth finally following signs to the hotel which looked far too posh for our price range, but inquired anyway - and to our surprise they had a double room for 45 pounds (for the 2 of us - cheaper than a B&B). The room - though small was furnished beautifully and quite luxurious - I had a most relaxing bath and felt like a Queen. We had breakfast the next morning, all included in the price, and had a stroll around the beautiful grounds. Altogether a wonderful experience.

My Husband and I have spent numerous wonderful evenings at The Heathercliffe hotel. We first visited the hotel annually for their lovely Valentine's Day evening meals. We always enjoyed these evenings, and were well looked after and we enjoyed the romantic ambience. Then we stayed over a few times, twice for Valentine's day and once for a birthday surprise. On these occassions we stayed in the Queens suite twice and another double room once. The last time we stayed there was in Feb 2004. We really enjoyed our stays there, and really cannot fault the service which is always fantastic. The gentleman who runs the place always goes out of his way to help and so do the rest of the staff.

In March 2006 we organised a weekend in the Queens suite as a surprise for my in-laws ruby wedding anniversary. The staff were really helpful with everything that needed organising before hand, and they really looked after the two of them while they were there too, as they knew it was a special anniversary. My in-laws were so impressed with the place that they regularly go there now to enjoy the lunchtime menu that is available. So it has become a great favourite with all the family!

I would definitely recommend The Heathercliffe to anybody wanting quality food, good company in wonderful country surroundings. Its a gem!
