Les Jardins d'Epicure

Situated on the fringes of a small village, and set in its own stunning grounds, this really does promise something out of the ordinary. In practice, it is not quite that. Our room in the Villa Florentine was a little on the small side, but pleasantly furnished, the bathroom however was poorly maintained, and the shower refused to stay in place (a fairly basic maintenance item that should have been reported by housekeeping). The main building is smartly furnished, but like other reviewers, we were unconvinced by the restaurant situated around the indoor swimming pool. The food was good, without being outstanding, and the service was neither, being inattentive and unsmiling. Breakfast next morning seemed a bit of an after-thought (a modest help-yourself buffet in the bar) and the service again routine and unsmiling. Wi-Fi was free and worked well. It is handily situated for a trip to Giverny (Monet's Garden), and Paris is not far away.

We did not feel overcharged at 140€ per night, but still thought that there was room for improvement. Worth considering in the future in case they get their act together!

If you like the XIXth century atmosphere, you'll love the "Jardins d'Epicure" hotel, located in a small village at the gate of Normandy. The place is really peaceful; a nice park with old trees will welcome you, crossed by the Epte river.
We stayed for a night at the "Villa florentine", at the top of the house (no elevator, but 3 floors only). The comfort of the room was perfect: a big room, large and comfortable bed; arms-chair to relax and a beautiful bath-room with a shower. The decoration is simple and refined. We found mineral water, tea and coffee in the room. Umbrellas are provided as well.
Since we slept there because we were attending a weeding-party near from Bray-Lu we did not have time to enjoy the pool, or the breakfast. But what we got was really worth the price (120 euros).
We came back late: I confess that may be I am not a great adventurer, but the walk between the parking lot and the Villa Florentine, in a deep dark night was a funny experience... The light of the Iphone helped us to find the bridge and to get back to our room. A torch would have been useful: I regret I forgot mine....
