“Lovely chateau, should have eaten somewhere else”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We stayed at Chateau d'Augerville for one night during a week-long driving trip across France. It was a lovely facility and our room was very nice and well-appointed. It met our expectations at 4 stars, the grounds were beautiful and in our room (which was in the castle), our view from the back of the castle was spectacular and the renovated bathroom was very nice.

What wasn't so great... I found the chateau to be touristy; I'm sure this is due to the close proximity to Paris, as well as the golf course. When we visited, there were a lot of souvenirs prominently for sale, which I felt diminished the authenticity of the castle a bit.
We also had mixed feelings about the restaurant. The service was very good and we sat outside by candlelight, which was so elegant. I feel awful to say, though, that it was the worst meal we had during the 8 days in France, due to the way the main course was cooked. I was quite disappointed and the servers didn't inquire why I hadn't touched my food. I am not a picky eater and I found that many other meals on the trip were some of the best I've ever had.
Overall, I happily recommend the hotel if you are staying outside Paris to the south. I'd recommend scouting other restaurants, though.

This is a very well preserved & tastefully developed 17th century chateau. Hidden away in the little hamlet of Augerville-la-Riviere it oozes tranquility and luxury. My wife and I were motoring through France so only stayed one night, but I wish we could have stayed longer.
There are bedrooms in the main chateau building, but our room was in one of the buildings creating the courtyard. This was fine,it was a very comfortable and modern room inside the old stone walls, and it was no problem to walk across the courtyard to the main hotel building for dinner and breakfast. We ordered dinner in the splendid bar and enjoyed dinner in the even more splendid dining room. The quality of service and food was what you would expect from a hotel of this type and was actually good value for money, especially compared to other chateau hotels we stayed in - see my review of Chateau De Cocove.
It was a most relaxing stay in what genuinely is an atmospheric building. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights returning from southern France. It is a lovely hotel, with an excellent golf course. Drink prices were very expensive (e.g. 10euro gin & tonic, 12euro cognac, 5euro water), and very little choice on half board menu. The chef's speciality of the day was repeated for both nights of our stay, and the remaining 2 choices were also the same, this should not be the case for a hotel of this standard.

Some 25 minutes from the A6 Autoroute du Soleil, one hour south of Paris, this really beautiful 17th century chateau lies hidden in a small village.
Once you drive through te gate onto the cobbled courtyard you are surrounded by historical buildings. Everything is very well kept and oozes style, luxury and tranquility.
You are welcomed by an efficient and friendly receptionist, luggage is taken care of.
Rooms are tastefully decorated, all in the same style. There are some 12 rooms in the main building, all different in size and layout. And 24 more rooms in the buildings around the courtyard.
The bar and restaurant are in atmospheric rooms with ancient wood paneled walls and ceilings.
Service is good and personal, and local people have diner there, which always is a good sign.
Adjacent to the chateau is a magnificent 18 holes golfcourse that could be the very reason to stay in the hotel. You can arrange your tee off time through the hotel reception.
Rooms and restaurant prices are in line with the standard offered. This is obviously not your cheap stopover an your way to the South, but a place to really enjoy. Best stay at least two nights.

Room Tip: Rooms in the chateau offer great views on the golfcourse.

On our way back we found this 5-star accomodation, which indeed was offering best room, excellent restaurant as regards cooking. But as often personnel is downsized in quality and overview. yes it was a saturday and France was still in EC Football.
But the strangest of things happened with the bill after one night: the reseding personnel had no interest in printing a bill which is OK with me.

After hours they realized the forgot to bill us for the excellent dinner: I was allright they phoned me while is was driving 130 km per hour on the French A1: It is risking to get your customer involved in a heavy car accident. But this person's language level of English was lousy. I will check my credit card to see what has happened.

The stay was nice and the service was very good and warm. However we felt the rooms were not up to the expectation for such place. It is also a pity that the park is exclusively for golfers.
Restaurant is just ok. Good food, knowlegeable staff but lack wine variety.

The castle is located in the countryside to the South of Paris. To get there takes a bit of time if you don't have a car, but it's doable (RER then taxi).
The park of the castle is very enjoyable. There is not much to do right next to the castle, but it's a great place to rest away from the city.
The room we stayed in wasn't in the castle itself, which is the most negative point of this review.
The room was very clean and classy. We slept very well there, with a view of the castle and the park.
Staff was very helpful, even though maybe a bit too affected (fake).
Dinner was great, don't skip it.
We got offered a night in this hotel by friends, so we are not sure about the value of this hotel.
