“Great Hotel/Resort, Excellent Villas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2013

We stayed for 5 nights at The Sarann during September. We had originally booked the Jacuzzi Villa but decided to upgrade to a Oceanfront Pool Villa after asking to have a look at one when checking in. We were wowed from the moment we walked in the door. The view from the villas is just breathtaking, from the minute you wake up and open the blinds in the morning. Villa was very clean, spacious (although the separated living room seems pointless!)

The hotel staff were also magnificent throughout, everyone stops to say hello etc. breakfast was good with an ample selection (other than poor coffee, but that seems to be the case everywhere in Thailand)

The hotel is relatively small so never felt busy or crowded. The only downside as most other people have mentioned is the fact that the pool is tiny and is basically in the lobby, and the hotel is not directly on a beachfront, but it is only literally about a two minute walk to the Chaweng Noi beach

Room Tip: If you budget allows, definitely upgrade to the Oceanfront Pool Villa. Also don't be afraid to h...

Arriving at Sarann, it impressed us with the lobby, the infinity pool and the ocean view. Upon getting in our room, we immediately smelled a musty odor. Upon sleeping and waking up, the odor was even stronger and was unbearable. I noticed an opening outside the structure and found six inches of water directly under the room which smelled like sewage. We asked for a new room and were moved five hours later to an identical room. There was a similar smell, not as strong in the new room. The hotel is directly next to a busy road and we could hear the traffic racing by, thus reducing the peaceful atmosphere that should be here but is missed. The menu is more expensive than the beach restaurants, almost 50-100% higher. The food is decent but not worth the price increase. Drinks are also around 250-300 baht ($7-$8) which is far higher than beach bars we visited. The breakfast is very good.

Stayed in the Oceanfront Villa for 3 nights during my stay.
Perhaps it was my lack of knowledge of the geographic position of Chaweng Noi, or perhaps it was genuinely cunning marketing on The Sarann's part, but the Oceanfront Villa wasn't all sand and beach, as I'd expected. In fact, there is barely any "beach" at The Sarann; the coast in front of the hotel premises was mostly just rocks. To get any decent sand and beach, one would have to walk to the stretch next to The Sarann.

That said, however, the Oceanfront Villa was fairly pleasant to stay in. That is, once you get past the main door at the patio, which can be tricky to bolt, and the very-limited maneuveuring space of the bedroom itself. While I have no major grouses about it, it would also definitely have been more convenient if I didn't have to go through, ie. open and close 2 sets of doors everytime I wanted to go from the bedroom to the living room, or vice versa.
The private plunge pool is great. I loved that the most.

The staff were mostly friendly and willing to help, even if sometimes their knowledge of certain things were limited (eg. they couldn't figure out why the wifi wasn't working for me, until the problem fixed itself).
I was also pleasantly surprised that the staff knew immediately that I would want my usual morning coffee in the form of a cappuccino, by the 3rd morning.

All in all, an okay stay with The Sarann.

Room Tip: Oceanfront Villa is definitely the best choice of the lot. The other rooms, from what I observed, ar...

Truly wonderful experience.

Just back from an amazing 4 night stay at The Sarann hotel in Koh Samui. After trolling many websites and search engines we chose this hotel because of location and price. We were absolutely right on both accounts. The hotel is situated at the southern most tip of Chaeweng Beach with an excellent view, also it is far enough away from the busy centre of Chaweng but very easy to access via taxi or the public transport that takes you to most of the parts of the island you need to visit.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from the best view point on the island, albeit uphill. Many tourists come here to see the spectacular view.

Upon arrival we were meet at the airport as pre booked with the hotel. Our driver was very courteous and pleasant. At the hotel the reception staff gave us a very warm greeting, welcome drink and some discount vouchers for the spa. We had booked a Jacuzzi villa for the four nights. The villa was truly spacious, spotlessy clean and had everything that we needed for our stay.

The main pool at the hotel was truly amazing, We spent most of our days there as we loved the view and size of the pool. At times we were the only people at the pool. It has the best view on the island.

On our last night we traded up to the pool villa, we are so glad we did this. Truly wonderful private villa with great infinity pool. Now we really felt we were even more in heaven. The villa had a lovely deck area as well as an outdoor covered space to relax. It also has its own lounge.

Everything about our stay was excellent, I really must comment again about the great rooms, view, pleasant helpful staff and cleanliness.

Room Tip: This hotel is excellent value for money. Great situation and truly amazing for the price. Love it!

This place is absolute paradise. The sea is the clearest blue I have ever seen. We stayed in a Sea Front Pool Villa on the quiet side of Chaweng Noi Beach in Koh Samui. It was absolutely fantastic, the views from our bedroom were stunning. We had our own private pool with terrace, which over looked the amazing Chaweng Beach. The room was lovely and clean and we were given a bottle of wine and some tropical fruit. Some advice I would give, everything is quite impressive and their beachfront restaurant is good with reasonable price. A set dinner for 2 person at the beachfront restaurant, which is truly unbelievable is just THB 1,900 for a five course dinner. I must say the food is good and very fresh, the service great and it is worth visiting once in Samui. If staying in the quiet zone make sure you get to the pool early as there are only 8 sun loungers and they go quick. Once a week they have a Thai Night Dinner or BBQ Seafood Dinner, that is really lovely, they serve rock lobster and other fish and all the food we ate was brilliant. If you can pack some snacks to have during the day, it will save you some money as there are some local small convenient shops nearby (just opposite). The small spa is also not too bad and the treatments are cheap. Anyway, Book early as the slots get taken quickly. Don't miss the outdoor nightlife at Chaweng Centre and Fisherman Village, great fun and the hotel provide a free shuttle van everyday. I really can't wait to visit this place again next summer.

Stayed for a week in February as a couple, had a sea front pool villa room and it was fantastic, we arrived late at night after a long day of flying and were checked in very quickly and taken to our room that we were impressed with. Breakfast was good and some of the dishes were mixed up daily so you didn't have the same thing everyday.
There was a shuttle bus to chaweng that was free, it was walking distance too if needed. there is also a general store over the road for some chang's, coke, water and so on.
Room was cleaned daily but the only problem we had with the hotel was the cleaning time as we tried to be away when came to clean but the time was different every day some days 11am others 4pm...other than that almost perfect. A little expensive to eat at the hotel but there are plenty of options at chaweng not too far away and it was nice to be far enough away from the hustle and bustle but not too far for when it was wanted.... we did have room service one night and the food was good.
Not right on a beach as such, but one end of the hotel is and only a couple meters down was a safe swimming beach with some beach bars, massage and cafes where most of our days were spent..by the way this was where we got the best massages of our trip to Koh Samui, and we were there daily for our morning massage after we found them.
would go back for sure.

Room Tip: The sea front pool villas are the great, nice and private
