“Hidden gem, great accomodation”
Reviewed 9 September 2010

We stayed at The Park Sumai in August for 5 nights as a fmaily of four with 2 young children aged 4 and 6.

We were picked up from the airport via the arranged transfer with the Park, the transfer was a lovely big car with a friendly driver. The transfer is less than 10 minutes, although when staying at the park you never heear the planes.

The welcome was very nice and friendly we were greeted with juice and cold flannels and was dealt with efficiently and quickly for the check in. By the time we got to ourr oom our luggage was waiting and all taken care of.

The rooms are fabulous, I say room however it was really a spacious two bedroom house with a terrace on the ground floor and a balcony from the master bedroom.

The house was very spacious, white modern and trendy, yet was comfortable and well equipped. As you walk through teh main patio doors you enter the large lounge with comfy sofas, TV and satelite, there are a few steps that lead down to a back door which leads to a refuse area and driveway, there are also a few steps that go up to the kitchen and dining area which overlook the lounge in a mezzanine style, there is a toilet on this level, there is then a proper staircase that leads up to the top floor where there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, again well equipped and very comfortable.

There are two pools one for adults and one for children which both have sunbeds, the gardens are well maintained and generally the place is very clean. There is also a gym which my husband used although he did find it a little hot, there is aircon in there but only comes on when you enter the room.

The reception are also has a restaurant area where you can pay extra to have breakfast and other meals, we had breakfast here everyday we found it to be very nice well cooked food, I think if staying longer than a week the breakfast menu would be very boring however it was very nice and well priced, we ate at the park other time too for lunch and as room service again the food was very good and there is a good selection to chose from, it is one of the few places whereby the hotel food was comparable to the local restaurants.

The Park is a little out the way and is very difficult to wlak to anything if you are a person who likes everything on your doorstep then this isn't the place for you, however the hotel run a free service down to one of the local beaches which is very nice, we used taxis alot to go into the fishermans village and Chaweng, people moan about the taxi prices in Ko Samui which is expensive compared to other parts of Thailand and Malaysia but still not bad compared to UK prices and seeing as everything else was so cheap we didn't mind.

The Park is well worth a visit as accomodation is fab and well priced. The people that run the place are really nice and helpful, it was my husbands birthday when we were there and they organised a lovely cake to be delivered to our room with candles, all this was done completely free of charge and we were made to feel very welcome with our children.

We had a good stay thank you to all at the Park.

Absolutely amazing place. The apartments are HUGE, with every possible convenience you would ever need included. They are actually houses split over 3 floors and absolutely immaculate. A real home away from home. The restaurant is fab and serves the best Mai Tai on the island. Been 3 times now and can't wait to go back.

I second this Thor Strand. We where two pairs travelling togheter and our plan was to visit Koh Samui for one week and were there for two weeks. One of the reasons we would like to extend our stay was because of the appartment, what a hidden paradise!

Before we went to Thailand i talked with one of the owners @ The Park Samui (Anders Kjær) which was very helpful booking for us.

LOCATION
Park Samui is a little hidden in the hillside, just 10 minutes (driving with scooter) from Chaweng city. We had no problems with this since we rented scooters. The place is really quiet after dark, hence the location in the hills.

SERVICE
Housekeeping everyday and they did the dishes.
When we got there, the staff quickly realised that we diden't want any of the minibar stuff in the refregiator so they put them aside without any problem (best thing is to drive to Tesco Lotus and buy cheap food and beverages so you can fill up the kitchen)

The reception was very quick to order a Taxi when we called them from the room.
The 24/7 security guard is a great thing, and maybe he should have key sets to the appartments incase someone forgot them (we actually did, when the reception had closed so we had to wait one hour before the other pair we lived with came back).
Reception and other staff is VERY polite and always smiling and caring.

ROOMS
Very spacious and clean. Big, big windows, and a nice garage. The curtains is easy to use and after you use them probperly its very dark inside the room (love that). Just look at my pictuers, they don't lie. Nothing to complain about here.

FOOD
We did not eat at the resturant, but it's very easy and fun to bring back food to the apartment and make dinner, since it's more beautiful then many resturants :D

VALUE
Cheap, cheap, cheap! Seriously, you get alot more service, luxury and space for the money then any hotel on this island.

OTHER
When you get there, get a Park Samui card with the adress and information in Thai. Not many taxies or tuk tuks know about this paradise hence it's so new. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend, absolutely.
There is two different pools (the pools really look amazing, perfect temperature and depth) one for children and one for adults. Im so glad i found this, thank you!

We've been around Phuket are for a week, and planned 1 week in Koh Samui at The Park, but it became 2 weeks instead - because we loved it at The Park!
The location would seem its a little off, because you can't see the beach, but this is actually a benefit, because its always some noise around the beaches, since the single main road are built directly besides them all around the island. Renting a scooter or a car is a big plus, and its cheap, and the left hand driving isn't hard to get adjusted to. If you think about it, its cheaper to rent then to take a taxi everytime you're going somewhere, and the Park's location is perfect, either if you wan't to taste the nightlift, go shopping, or just take a roundtrip and visist the cultural part of Koh Samui

You get a free transfer to the beach with a pickup at any time, eventhough we didn't do this while we were here, we know it's a good deal, since we used it alot at our previous hotel.

This time we decided to stay by the pool in the garden and whenever we needed to go somewere, there was a taxi 5-10 minutes away. After a few days we decided to rent a scooter/bike, and we got the biggest for 300baht a day, which is the cheapest you'll get it, if you don't rent them for 2-3 weeks or so. With these parked in there garage you'll get anywhere you want in just a 5 minutes, wether its to the beach, a 5-star restaurant or shopping. We mainly used our baht for shopping in chaweng, which was about 10 minutes away from the apartments. We went to the Tesco Lotus to do the grocery and food shopping, since the FamilyMarts, 7Eleven etc is overpriced deluxe. We shopped for 4000baht and had food for 4 adults for about 4 days, thats 800 NOK which is really cheap.
We all just loved the apartments, the open and relaxing feeling of the living room and the modern kitched made everything perfect for our vacation. There is no oven to make a pizza in, but we didn't miss it at all.

The bedrooms are all ensuit, witch means they all have a bathroom w/toilet and shower/tub which is very good if someone were to experience foodpoisoning, like we did, or just for the girls to have their makeup-mirrors:P As well as ensuit, the rooms had a separate aircondition, as well as in the livingroom/kitchen.
People may complain about bugs and insects, but we bought a "bug-killer-spray" and sprayed a little around the entrances and there was only a grasshopper who come in one night and died right beside our shoes. So, I would say there wasn't much of a problem:)

The personnel was quite helpful whether it was table reservations, or late pickups for tours we were going on etc. Even on my birthday ( I didn't tell them ) they came up with a birthdaycake to me, which tasted gooood:) So kudos to The Park Samui, I've never felt this at home on vacation:)

Relaxing, modern, social, friendly, pleasent, I can't come up with enough words to describe how fantastic our stay here was!

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Park Samui for a week in February.

The apartments were huge--very modern and finished nicely--just as they appeared on the hotel's website. Two large bedrooms and two 1/2 bathrooms. The kitchen was very well appointed with high standard dishes, cutlery and cookware, allowing guests to cook full meals easily. We also ate breakfast at the hotel a couple of days--it was good but highly priced compared to what we could make ourselves. We definitely recommend the amazing fresh fruit on the island.

The free wi-fi worked great. I thought the gym was just ok.

We hired a car which I would definitely recommend as the location is a little remote, and it will make sightseeing and supermarket trips much easier (there are several big Tescos on the island). The hotel offeers free tuk-tuk rides to the beach, but they can only take you to one beach (which is a little small, although I highly recommend the restaurant at The Sala) and we definitely wanted to explore beyond that.

The staff was limited but very friendly. They helped arrange a day trip to Ko Tao which I would highly recommend. We were definitely more comfortable arranging via the hotel as there are so many questionable tour operators around. Make sure you have cash for the tour.

We paid the extra supplement to have a Garden-facing room which I wouldn't recommend, as all of the apartments face the garden and pool areas.

Our only complaints were that the apartment was so modern, it seemed a little sterile and wasn't conducive to a romantic beach holiday. The location is a little remote but a good base for exploring the island, very peaceful, quiet and safe. It would be ideal for a group of friends or a small family and I would definitely recommend for those travellers. It was good value (especially for the size and age) and seemed a much better bet than some of the beach hotels which seemed to vary dramatically in quality.
