“Paradise !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014 via mobile

Stayed at Chalala Samui Resort for 14 nights in April, what a gem of a place it was.
The reception staff (Jazz especially) were really helpful and were always on hand to answer any questions, when it rained one afternoon they delivered us all umbrellas to our bungalows!
The rooms are very large and colourful and have an enormous bed which is very comfy with very nice quality bed linen.
The pool towels along with all the bedding and bathroom towels were changed daily by the lovely ladies who did the cleaning.
Wander down the path to the pool and you'll see how peaceful it is, some days there would only be a handful of people.
So glad we picked this resort over one of the big hotel chains as they just pack people in, row after row of sun beds, not for me!!
The bar and restaurant on the beach is WONDERFUL!!, the food they serve is all so fresh and tasty and very good value for money, some days if you can't be bothered with the hustle and bustle of down town Chaweng it was nice just to chill where you were, the BBQ red snapper and the steamed white snapper with ginger were amazing, the seafood special is also very good value for money and is fresh every day, had some friends come out later in our holiday they were staying at a 4 star down the beach but they came and ate in our restaurant every night. The guys and girls in the restaurant were very attentive and always had a smile on their faces and made the best cocktails. Would recommend the ladies on our beach for a massage they were fantastic and you feel so good after. Go for a 10 mins stroll down the beach and you're at the start of where all the shops and bars are.
A big thank you to all the staff who made this trip unforgettable and hopefully see you next year :)

My favourite place in all the world!

The most friendly, wonderful staff i've ever come across. I arrived and planned to stay 2-3 days...i stayed for 12!..and made genuine, life long Thai and Miyanmar friends i will go back and see there.

Meom one of the excellent waiters, Jazz at reception, Kim (waitress) Pai (Masseuse), the three lovely kind cleaners. The cool old guy who tends to the gardens and plants. They're all brilliant.

I never used the safe in the room. Always leaving money, phone, belongings out in the open. For 12 days. Never once was anything moved or touched. It's the coolest best place ever.

Korp Kun makh makh krap Chalala. Dee.o.pop gan mai :-)

We liked our room. Colourfull, big, with a couch and also chairs on the terrace.
The beach is really beautiful. Because it's rather shallow it's not great for swimming. But you can have a long walk along the beach. The hotel does not have lounge chairs and umbrellas, but we found those at a nearby resort.
The centre of Chaweng is within walking distance. The airport is 15 minutes by car.
On Friday night we went to Bophut to the walking street. It takes about 30 minutes by taxi. We enjoyed the market and there are many good restaurant in Bophut.

The reception (esp. Jazz) is very helpful and supportive! The atmosphere of this resort is nice and direct access to the beach. I stayed in two different types of rooms, and both are comforting and well maintained. In the second, bigger room, I needed to buy mosquito spray in order to sleep properly. Towels and water are supplied on daily basis. For the offered price, the accommodation is well suited and I would recommend it.

First of all the good parts: on the beach, nice garden bungalows, spacious rooms with AC. Unfortunately, the rooms are very moist and humid (so humid that we had a hard time keeping an incense stick burning...) and the bathroom already started to show mold. Keeping the terrace door open was not an option either, as the resort had lots of Mosquitos, but the staff did nothing about it. The AC in the room was placed directly on the wall near the bed, with the cold air blowing directly on it.
On the second day after we arrived, in the evening, we noticed that my girlfriend's phone and a perfume were missing, but at least they were so "nice" to leave the SIM card behind. Both the phone and the perfume were in a cosmetics bag outside the bathroom. We always use the safes in every hotel we stay, as we did here, but who would have thought of putting perfumes and cosmetics in it....Our stuff in the room was searched through and the only people having access to the room was the cleaning staff. I talked to the evening staff at the reception and asked them to solve the problem in a decent manner and I asked to speak to the manager the second day. They both shoved complete disinterest, they declined every responsibility and the manager didn't even care to talk to us. No apology, no "We are sorry...". Communication was anyways difficult, because of their lack of both understanding and speaking English. Even more, during the next days, staff became quite unfriendly, they did not even bother to exchange our towels and supply us the complimentary water bottles. It's a pity that they are only thinking about making money off the tourists while offering little or no service at all!

Room Tip: Stay away....

Subject: Thank you so much

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so apologize for your suffering at Chalala Samui Resort. Story in your comment is truth but it's not whole story.
- I asked you to call to police station but you said '' No, It's okay''
- You inform me that '' House keeping thief your mobile and perfume so don't let them come in to your room anymore'' so I tell house keeping. However, you can contact at reception counter to change towel , beach-towel or bottle of water like the first day you do.
** Please kindly note that House-keeping are 3 persons totally in hotel and they have worked 1 and half year now, guest never complain about stealing in room before.
We will be too pleasure if you do not comeback to Chalala Samui Resort again and would be so kind if you could tell your friend ,family and everybody you know at Romania or Romanian that '' Do not go to stay at Chalala Samui Resort'' .........Thank you so much.

Best regards,

Great place to stay, and it is right on the beach. I've seen some complaints about the water out front being murky, and it is a bit, but it is still quite beautiful when you swim a bit from shore. Oddly, this is one of the few hotels that doesn't put lounge chairs out during the day forcing you to enjoy the sun by the pool or at another resort.

The hotel has great rooms (very comfortable and clean), a nice pool, and very friendly staff. It is located at the northern end of Chaweng, which gets you away from the sounds of the ever present parties. However, it is close enough to the main strip of cheap buys to satisfy that itch.

The restaurant is okay, but nothing special. Your Place, next door, is cheaper and has the same food.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

Stayed here for 4 nights from 15-19th November 2013. Unfortunately the weather let us down so wouldn't recommend visiting Samui in November however this didn't dampen our thoughts on the resort. The bungalows were clean and interesting. It definitely felt like paradise. The pool was warm and clean and it was so nice to be literally a few meters from the beach and sea. The food and drinks served in the on-site restaurant were very tasty with a large selection of good-priced seafood and Thai dishes and an even bigger list of cocktails which went down very well. The only negative was the receptionist knocking on our door at midnight the night before our 5am start to head over to Phi phi to notify us that they had made an error in our bill calculations and we owed another 600THB despite us telling her being aware we were having an early night. I was then awake for the rest of the night. It was nice to walk along the beach and visit the other resorts and the resort is out of the way of the main Chaweng strip where the main nightlife is. Was nice to be tucked away but having the opportunity to party if wanted to. If you want to party I recommend a visit to the Ark bar. Was very good.
