At the northern, more quiet, part of Chaweng is this lovely, well-maintained resort with very friendly staff. Everything from checking in to delivering a baby cot and ordering meals worked out very smoothly. The massage at the beach was wonderful and the pool was nice (most of the sunbeds are in the shade in the afternoon though).
Our family room was huge, somewhat outdated but still charming and with all the basic amenities you could wish for (wifi also worked well).
My only little complaint is about the room being next to the restaurant kitchen and the patio where the staff hanged out. Putting a family room (expected to have little kids staying there) right next to the that was a little bit disturbing. I had to ask the waiters not to yell to each other so loudly when our little one was trying to sleep. Because it was literally like they were shouting in our room. And it's not just the noise from the restaurant, the music from the beah was quite loud too. It wouldn't bother me, but if you are a very light sleeper or if your baby is.
Anyway, Chalala is a very cute resort and the staff will definitely put a smile on your face with theirs!

We stayed for three nights.
The room was pretty big but unfortunately we had to deal with many bugs inside the room and the room wasn't cleaned perfectly.
The staff, the restaurant and bike rental were great.
Also the pool was very nice and the staff is really welcoming.

The hotel is quite small, but very cosy and nice, with lovely bungalow style rooms disposed around a lush tropical garden.
The stuff is extremely friendly and helpful, and will do anything they can in order to meet your needs.
The beachside restaurant is simply fantastic, and you should definitely try it even if you're not staying at the hotel

It is budget hotel, rooms are quite simple and basic, but the price is very reasonable due to location - first line with direct access to the beach, good pool and restaurant. It is some 10-15 walking distance from the center, but this might be an advantage - calm and secure place at night.
