“Great time at Amari”
Reviewed 9 August 2010

Still getting over our excellent holiday to Koh Samui had just the best time ever. This hotel is in an excellent location and offers great service in a stylish setting. We go allocated superior rooms by the 2nd pool over the road and they were stunning as was the location with all amenities being close to hand. Breakfasts were excellent with loads of choice that even after 12 days we could still find someting new to try, so too is Prego both food and service are first class.

But in our opinion the best part about this hotel was its location enjoy lunch in one of the beach bars (our favourites were Op Bungalows & Aqua which serves great Thai and Italian food and the staff are super friendly) also loads of places to enjoy dinner both on the beach and in the town plus you have to try the night market for some great local food (head towards town and when the road forks take a right, the market is about 200 metres on left we at at Ploy Restaurant the fish was excellent)

On a couple of nights we also took a cab to Fishermans Village which is a great place with some excellent bars and restaurants and a bit more laid back than Chewang. We ate at the Shack which does the best steaks! and also Krua Thai which serves delicious traditional food. Our final reccommendation is a little place called "Peak Kitchen" its situated about a 10 min taxi drive from the hotel near a hotel called the boat house, we read a review in the local paper and have to say its a simple place but the food is amazing and the chef/owner is a right character!

Finally have to mention "Your Place Bar" its along the beach to the left its just a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail OR THREE!!! Oh and the fire show is well worth staying around for.

It was our second time to Koh Samui and I cant wait to go back again real soon!

The hotel was just excellent and if this is only ranked 20th the top 19 must be out of this world.
The room was excellent and very spacious. The only minor negative thing, was a slight shortage of wardrobe space. The room was cleaned thoroughly everyday and a complimentary newspaper. we were across the road with a room overlooking the pool and it was like being in paradise. Previous reports about this road being a problem are just so wrong. The road is the equivalent of a normal residential street here and there are security guards at each side of the road who stop the traffic.
We were B & B and the breakfast was out of this world with so many choices and I did succumb towards the end of the holiday and had Tandori Chicken, Roast Potatoes and Potato Salad, When in Rome.
The pool on this side of the Hotel was excellent also and then just down 5 Steps and we were on the beach. Very clean and easy to get a sunbed. The beach is full of sellers from food to clothing but they had a boundary which they did not cross and to be honest were very friendly and had a laugh with them. Also very cheap , a can of coke 20 THB = 40p.
All in all a fantastic experience with everything being just the best and the staff could not have been anymore helpful or friendly.
Highly Recommend

Stayed at the Palm Reef to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with friends and got to say they were 1st class. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and a complimentary drink as our room was not quite ready, this might be down to the time spent in decorating our room with flowers, fresh fruit , Anniversary cake and wine. Every member of staff greeted you with a smile and the customary "khob khan"
Good location just outside the hustle and bustle of the main strip and the only bad point I can think of was the closure of one of the pools for five days to sort out its filtter problem, this left the remaining pool a bit overcrowded.A great experiance and a special thank you to "Thanya" who made our stay such a special one.

Me and my partner did spend 11 wonderful days there in Amari..I would say - one of the best hotels in Coh Samui..
Rooms were just amazing, booked delux room which was very clean as spacuos..Haf all waht u need there: huge lovely beds, slippers, shopping bag, ironing board and so on:)Was surprized to see a nice tv set on the wall in the bathroom (had huge shower and a bath)Had lovely balcony where we did relax having drinks and tropical fruit in d evening:)
Food was lovely,great choice!!Pools magnificent,gounds just fabulous!!
In the evening hotel looks just amazing, especially sea side dinning evenings: fab blue lighted tables rght on the beach...Food there in the restaurants is a bit more expensive then downtown, but is really great..
Wd really reccomend to rent motorbike as we did dor 5 days, had great fun:)
Stuff was perfect, always smiling and so on..
We holidayed there in June so restaurant had great offer for drinks in d evening: fro, 6 to 9 by one get one free:)which was lovely i thnk:)
The only minuses: wrong side of the beach in ow season - water was getting very very very shallow,so had to go cayaking if we wanted to swim really as shallow water there was just boiling got (trully!!!like very very hot bath with a lot of salt). So our friends stayed in ,,First House Hotel'' so fiew days went to the beach there which was just fab!!!!!!!!
Very little intertaiment in d evening and none at daytime,no animation at all, but it was no harm really and driving over the island on d bike at night was gr8 fun and it was more then enough:)
Massage - just amazing:)Had xomplimentary 10-15 min amazing thai massage beside the poole on the day we were living which was really nice..
and so on and so on..So Thailand - wd never be forgotten!!!!!

We stayed ocean side, the rooms are quite small, but the view and service makes up for it. The Banquet breakfast in the Merante restraunt was amazing, their was something for everyone and the hotel staff are very courteous. Their Italian restraunt Prego across the road was to Die for, and the service once again + the food were excellent.
You could hire kayaks from the beach, the water is not too deep and is quite calm so any age could do this. Pool area is quite large with lots of lounges around to use.

We booked the Amari as part of their 50% promotion which was great value, and i think the rest of the world did too as the hotel was full to bursting. This did cause some issues with getting sunloungers in the morning as over the 2 pools there were just not enough to go around. Also beware that in one of the pools all our costumes turned yellow and there seemed to be a lot of chemicals in that one, so we went over to the pool by the beach which was better.

The hotel is split into 2 parts across a road, but there are always hotel staff to help you get across and the road and it's not that busy anyway, this is in no way an issue.

We booked a superior room which was on the lobby side of the hotel, when we entered the room it really was very small for the 3 of us. The front desk were very helpful and the next day they offered us a deluxe room for the same price which was very good of them, We must say throughout our stay the front desk were wonderful and so helpful and friendly. We did however find some of the other restuarant staff were not helpful at all and we must say that at lunchtime the service in the poolside restaurant was unbelieveably slow so we only ate there twice.

The hotel's location is great, out front it is a 2 minute stroll and you are at the start of the strip, and beachside there is a fair bit of seaweed in the water which workers were trying to remove, with success at the end of our stay. Walk 5 mins however either side and you have clear blue beautiful warm water.

The deluxe rooms are big and well appointed with large bathrooms with separate bath/shower.

Overall this is a solid 4star plus hotel and i would certainly go back.

Felt so welcome at this hotel. The staff are truly wonderful. Had a couple of small problems in the room which were fixed very quickly. Had a quiet room with a view of the pool and slept very well. We had room 3120 but 3106 and 3108 would be good too.Buffet breakfast was good but cook did not know how to make omelets properly, they were more like scrambled eggs with extra flavours added.
