“Fine enough to the family trip with child aged under 5”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

Just back from Samui for our family trip which is 6 adults (3 couples) , 1 child under 4. We booked the Deluxe Villa of each for 4 nights (March 9 to 13). Somehow, being upgraded to 2 Pool Villa Rooms, #V07 & #V12 for first 3 nights and back to Deluxe Villa on the last, 1 Exe. Suite (#501) for whole booking. Villa room is huge, that's!

Here is our findings during the stay:

Like : Quiet and large for the villa #V07 & #V12 only! Watching the moon and stars is cool if you don't mind mosquito.
Unlike : #501 just next to the kitchen that noise & smell to be around (6:00am to 11:00pm). The main window is faced closely to the mainpool, that we can see other guests' back from the day-bed. No privacy at all and the curtain should be closed definitely. Air-conditioner is needed to check, please. No iron and iron-board, but just provided the free service for 2 pcs of clothes every day per room.

By the way, not really like our last experiences from different boutique resorts. (please see my other comments). Only a few staff can speak English, you need to be patient if called after 11:00pm for something necessary. As the '0' picked up your call and did not understanding very well, then hangup the phone. So strange about such boutique hotel service. Ooopsss.... not my expectation. Be honest, I won't stay in the room 24 hrs/day for the whole vacation. As long as it is clean, inroom equipment, facilities in good condition is enough. Whatsoever is deluxe villa, pool villa, executive villa....etc.

I do not agree with others, just 10 mins walk to the Chewang......not true. That is 10 mins. drive to the Khun Chewang Complex (The Pizza Company, MacDonald's). There is a few shops outside left down to the slope from the main entrance, a bit darky.

Please be sure to check the transfer fee each way from bill when departure, as different staff provided the different information. I don't mind paying more a bit, but need to be cleared for each way! Be honest, 200B to 300B more is not a big deal but a clear transaction is a must. Anyway, some area of the customer service in this hotel should be improved, especially in Olivia, breakfast is just like the 3 stars' hotel standard in Phuket, good enough in the morning with coffee and tea, if you are not care too much about the first meal of the day. Just feel free to email me for details, please.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to offer a review of your stay. It was our pleasure to have you and your family stay with us, as we know there are many choices in Chaweng Beach. Your kind words for us are well received and greatly appreciated.

By the way, we're terribly sorry for what seems to have caused you misunderstand with your transfer bill. The reason was that the bill has been summarized from all of your family usage of the transfers. Where, on many occasions the managements have discount for you and mismatched of what has been previously informed. Our intention is to never cause any confusion and for that, we are sincerely sorry.

As per the in-room iron and iron board, we have never offered one and it is never stated that we do, this is also including the free service on the laundry, In your case it was what we do to go extra miles which we hope you’d appreciate.

The distant of Baan Haad Ngam to Chaweng Complex, you are quite right it took longer than 10 minutes. This is because it is further away towards the other end of Chaweng Beach Road not where the shopping and entertainment area starts. It is no wonder that it’ll take more than 10 minutes’ walk and that is not other guest’ false estimate.

Further, our American buffet breakfast in - Olivio - restaurant features many options include an assortment of pastries from our bakery including selection of breads that are made fresh daily, cereals, yogurts, fresh sliced fruits, salad, assortment of cold cuts, oatmeal, made-to-order egg station, Thai hot dish and an assortment of exotic fruit jam, juice, milk, high quality tea selection and coffee beans. We work diligently to ensure that we offer more than many other 3 stars hotel has. As a matter of fact, this is one of the most complimented from our guests. If we were not mistaken you seemed to have enjoyed them since early morning until the breakfast line is almost finish.

All in all, it is our goal to exceed expectations and we are sorry that you feel like that courtesy was not extended to you. Thank you very much for your feedback and taking the time to write a review.

Yours Sincerely,
The Management

Firstly I have to say we did stay at one of the pool villas. I believe it made all the difference and well worth it.

Best thing about the hotel was the location. Not far from chaweng (10 min walk) but far enough from the chaos. The beach outside the hotel is very nice to walk on and sunbathe but not the best for swimming as it is too shallow. Also at certain times of day the tide comes up all the way to the hotel entrance so that there is essentially no beach. But a 2 min walk Long the bay and the tide effect is not as bad with plenty of beach and good to swim.

But the hotel pool and pool area are magnificent. Most of the time was spent there.

At night the beachfront around the hotel is scattered with relaxed bars.

Service was at all times excellent. Everybody very friendly and keen to assist with anything.

Breakfast was more than adequate (dont expect huge lavish buffets but still more than enough variety). Also we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the restaurant at night. I probably had the best single dish of my thailand stay there (fish with garlic thai style).

All in all very highly recommended. Id go there again, no second thought

my wife an i stayed there from the 13/02/12 to the 22/02/12. and from the 25/02/12 - 29/02/12 the hotel ia in a great location. the staff and the mamager were fantistic and very helpful. the rooms are nice and big. free wifi. the food was great the breakfast had lots of choises every morning. eating breakfeast looking over the sea was graat. however the hotel is in need of modernisation. but dont let that put you off, we would atay there again when we go back to koh samui. because we went back there after staying somwhere else for a wedding we got an upgrade to a villa free of charge. if you are going to koh samui.stay there.

Room Tip: all rooms are ok

We stayed at baan haad ngam resort in feb 2012! Our stay was fantastic! We stayed in a delux room with a spa. The room was always clean and the room itself was very spacious. The staff are always friendly and the buffet breakfast was always good! I would definantly stay here again! The location is a little bit out the way but if you hire a scooter the main area is only 5 minutes away. We hired a scooter from across the road at sangtip2 laundry for 200 baht per day! I would highly recommend renting one from there as we locked our keys in our seat and the lady went and got it for us ready to use the next day free of charge!!!

Baan Haad Ngam is beautiful. We stayed in a room with a pool and loved every minute of it. I felt instantly relaxed when i walked in to our room. The rooms are very private and well thought out with a real feeling of luxury. I particularly liked how the the glass doors from the bedroom open out straight into the pool... great for a midnight swim!!! The rooms, service, facilities were all top notch. We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. I'd find it hard to fault this place. Thank you Baan Haad Ngam

Room Tip: the pool villas are amazing

We are a 30-year old couple from London, spent 4 days here. Initially we hated the place though it did begin to grow on us after a few days.

Good stuff:
Olivio restaurant is really nice, Thai chefs making genuinely good Italian food, reasonably priced too and good service. They serve an amazing complimentary bread basket too ;-)
They do a sensible afternoon snack menu too eg. spring rolls for 90baht - good if you don't want a massive lunch. Happy hour 4-7 - some good cocktails, not amazing though.
Breakfast was good but there was a bit of a shove in and grab what you can culture ;-/
They do make good coffee though
Villa's were genuinely gorgeous, lush setting, great decor, lovely jacuzzi bath.
Housekeeping staff are amazingly talented at towel origami - we had a family of towel cows on our bed one day- fantastic!
Free canoes - brilliant!
Free wi-fi ;-)
They have a pet turtle!

Bad stuff:
Chaweng is simply a hideous area - not the hotel's fault but it is a major negative.
The sea looks beautiful and clean but the further you go you see rubbish and oil from jet ski's floating around.
Serious problem - the pool area is small and crowded, not enough chairs and there is a culture of reserving a spot early (by 8am) to ensure you can sunbathe by the pool. I hated the fact that we got sucked into this - it massively ruined the relaxing aspect of our stay. Due to tides it was not possible to lie on the beach either.
They are really close to the airport - free transfer would have been a nice touch.
My husband needed an iron - the hotel does not possess one, not great for a 4*
Air con is really noisy.

If I was visiting Koh Samui again I would not stay here but rather choose a bigger resort far away from Chaweng.

After many hours of googling, I'm glad I chose this hotel. Our rooms was upgraded from superior and deluxe to pool villas which was superb cos the 2 units were next to one another connected through an opening, so my kids were within easy reach. Enjoyed our stay tremendously. Nice location, takes 20mins to walk to town centre along the road, but one could also walk along the beach in shorter time and its nice. Breakfast spread was good too. Hotel staffs are ever so helpful and friendly. Pool villa rooms are really spacious, comfy with best facilities and fully recommended cos you dont need to worry about booking lounge chairs (which I observed) by the small main pool.
