“Somewhere to catch your breath”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2012

Koh Samui was our forth stop over a 10 day period and Chaweng Regent a delightful place to stop and relax. Good location on the main 'drag', on site restaurant Red Snapper delicious with very good service, staff friendly and helpful, pool areas very nice as was breakfast each morning - excellent selection and variety of food. My only negative would be that the staff told us an outrageous price for a cab fare to one of the cliff restaurants and not having caught many taxis there, we took their word for in. In hindsight - get the cabbie to turn the meter on and pay the metered fare - much more sensible - and a lesson learnt. Other than that I would highly recommend.

We are now back from our Thailand trip. Chaweng regent was our main stop and it was fantastic! Friendly staff, great stay, heavenly gardens and pools, best service.
What can I say really? You can lose yourself in this resort having cocktails on the beach front every night followed by delicious Thai food and massive selection of seafood. There are a list of tours available which we reccomend going scuba diving it was spectacular. We really hope we return to koh samui and chaweng regent made our trip as amazing as it was

We stayed at the chaweng regent for our honey moon in Jan. The location is fantastic and the staff are very very friendly. We stayed in a Spa Villa, it was ok but not really worth the $200 odd a night that we payed. The breakfast is very very ordinary I mean there is a bit to choose from but compared to most hotels we have stayed at in Thailand its very very poor.

Over all I think if the Hotel didn’t charge so much it would be worth it just for the location.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers

Room Tip: Spa villas are not really worth the $$ so try and find a room facing the Pool Bar Pool area on the g...

Dear Gaz077,

Thank you for staying with us and I am sorry you feel you did not find value in our Spa Villa at $200 AUD per night.

Considering the room is more than 60 square meters, new, comes with an in room open-air jacuzzi, private terrace, premium amenity, vip arrival and other, I am shocked to hear this. Also our breakfast buffet has more than 60 items wtih a display egg to order station as well as other daily changing demonstration area - what would you suggest we do to improve?

Please do let me know what you personally feel would create value for you at this price by dropping me an email as our guest satisfaction is first and foremost paramount.

This resort certainly lives up to its publicity. On arrival at the hotel, we were met with a warm welcome by the reception staff who offered a cool towel and refreshing drink. Our check in procedure was swiftly dealt with and our friendly receptionist walked us through the resort grounds to our room and, at the same time, provided us with useful information with regard to the facilities provided by the hotel. Our room overlooked one of the garden pools, it was spacious with sufficient hanging space and the bed was super-sized (approximately two three-quarter beds combined). The bathroom and toilet overlooked an attractive atrium and the usual toiletries were provided. Tea and coffee provisions were updated daily together with bottled water. Housekeeping staff were obviously highly efficient, and we had no need to make any requests for unfulfilled services.
The restaurant provided the usual full range of buffet breakfast and this was served in the Chom Talay Restaurant overlooking the beach and pool area. The catering staff provide an extensive variety of foods to meet all tastes and unlike me, my husband usually takes the opportunity to taste something different at each breakfast. The fruits and yogurt provided, together with the bread and croissants, were completely sufficient for my taste and needs. Unfortunately, the coffee was too strong for our Australian taste, but possibly this was directed more for the northern European guests who appear to be in the majority.
The resort gardens were outstanding and it was a pleasure walking through the grounds and coming across restful seating areas in attractive settings. The beach fronting the hotel was immaculate and congratulations to the hotel staff for keeping the beach area free from rubbish and always being ready to help with shifting sun umbrellas, etc.
Although we didn’t make use of the pools, they appeared to be very popular with guests and I must admit were an attractive feature of the resort.
The lunch menu provided by the beach bar was very popular, and we made full use of their services throughout our visit.
Check out was a smooth affair and we were grateful to the front desk staff for booking a taxi to take us to the airport.
During our visit to Koh Samui, we took the opportunity to look at some of the other hotels in the area, and I’m pleased to say that the Chaweng Regent is far superior to any that we saw.

First time stay at Chaweng Regent and it was fantastic. Found staff to be very friendly and accommodating and they we great with the kids. If you have a family would highly recommend to stay there very central to shopping district and a great resort for the kids. Would recommend the Royal spa villa room for families as has that little extra room. We had a fantastic holiday here and would go back.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the end of a trip visiting Krabi and Koh Lanta. We have been to Samui before and as this was a special occasion decided to go for a hotel that was in the middle of Chaweng, but away from all of the noise. We booked a spa villa room but when we arrived we were upgraded to a Royal Suite...wow!!
A stunning bungalow type room right by the beach...absolutely fantastic. The room was spacious, beautiful and very intiimate

As other reviews have stated this hotel is right in the middle of busy Chaweng, but once inside the hotel grounds you would never know this...total peace and relaxation.

The breakfasts were lovely with a wide variety of choice and all of the amenties offered by the hotel were excellent. The pool by the beach was fantastic and although most of the sun loungers were taken everyday, the pool never seemed overcrowded.

I would say that the prices of food and drinks were standard hotel prices, what you would expect to pay in a 4 star hotel anywhere.

All in all I wished that we had booked more time at this hotel as we had such a fantastic time. we have friends who live on Samui and we will definitely stay here again!!

We have just returned from our third stay in Thailand, this time celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We decided to stay here after reviewing many hotels. We booked last year, before the really negative reviews started to appear and it wasn't cheap. We had booked a premier room again after reading the reviews, what a big mistake.
We arrived at 7pm, to find our room was not ready, this was not good enough. We were taken to the beach to wait, given a free cocktail and nearly 45m later, eventually taken to our room. The room itself was ok, not what i expected in terms of position, the very first one, with a completely enclosed terrace with very little day light able to filter through and right next to the pathway, although screened by bamboo it is hardly private.
After travelling for 20 hours, we ran the water for the jacuzzi bath, after 30m we had filled it about halfway, when by mistake i hit the jet button and was appalled to see the most disgusting black debris coming out of the jets. We showered instead !!
We informed the front desk on our way out, having left the water for them to see and asked them to clean it properly.
We asked to change rooms the following morning, couldn't face another bath in that room, were told we could move the following day. Asked why we wanted to move I explained that along with the bathroom, we wanted a room with more light and some sort of view. The following day told it would be the next day, at this point I realised we would not be moving and as we had paid up front we were stuck.
The standard of cleaning was poor, in the 6 days we stayed our terrace was not swept once, hairs on the couch were not ours, and the general feel of the room and bathroom especially, was not clean
As stated in other reviews the food and drinks are very expensive. Breakfast is adequate if you do not want eggs, two staff cooking when we were there but neither one was able to cook anything beyond the usual omelette.
The charge for wifi was very high compared to the free service we had in both Bangkok and Phuket.
I am really disappointed that we stayed here, a room not ready just after 2pm is ok, but to arrive at 7pm and still have to wait is unacceptable, and to make matters worse we were charged full price for drinks just 2 mins after happy hour finished, on our anniversary!!!
I agree with other reviews there is a lot of penny pinching here, a lot of staff, especially reception staff are unable to "understand" when you have any problem but when it comes to money they are able to understand completely.
Finally, I appreciate that many men visit for more than the usual tourist reasons, what i did not expect was a hotel of this standard would allow the "guests" certain men met onto the premises where they would then proceed to be fawned over in full view of other guests including young families. This happened on two afternoons, when we were there. This is fine on the public beach, there I have no problem, but not on the hotel beach front.
