“Had 3 great weeks here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

First I think a lot of the revues here are really unfair, and that some guests have strange thoughts about this hotel.

We started our vacation as a party of 15 persons. We had two, two bedroom pool villas and three hotel rooms.

Many have complained that it is not by the seaside, they have never said so either... They drove us down to the beach every time we wanted to go to the breathtaking Chaweng Noi beach (for free). The city centre was 5-10 min. away with a taxi. The prices were cheap and do not pay more than 200 baht.

Our villa was really big and very nice and clean. One problem was that the air condition in the master bedroom made so much noise that it was impossible to have it on through the night. We had the door open to the kids room so we got some cold air in our room. There were two very nice bathrooms with both showers and one huge bathtub. The cleaning personnel came every day and changed the beds and made the most lovely figures with towels on the master bedroom bed. They also gave us flowers (We gave the a few baht on the pillow every morning, they were so sweet and great full for the little extra we gave them).

We had two times need for doctor and the reception helped us both times quickly and we're very helpfull.

The food was good, we ate breakfast every day and the cook made any kind of eggs that you wanted with a smile. Otherwise the breakfast was good with all the "normal" things you need. There was also a lot of fresh fruit every morning. Dinner/Lunch was also good, although my family usually ate in Chaweng. There is only one thing that irritated me in the restaurant. My sons glass with soda broke, and not only did we have to pay for a new soda-we also had to pay 200 baht for the glass......

All in all, we had three great weeks in Chaweng Noi pool villas.

Room Tip: Rent a villa instead of hotel room.

We had a private villa for more than a week and it was absolutely marvellous. The rooms are new, perfectly clean and very spacious. The facilities are top and the Wifi was fast and stable. And we all loved our small private pool in front of our living room: pure luxury!
Breakfast was a rich buffet (with real coffee!) and all the staff was so kind and attentive. My daughter wished a softer bed, I just mentioned it at the reception and whithin 15 minutes she had a soft extra mattress. Perfect.
Sure, the place is not directly at the beach but it's only a 5 min walk or we took the free shuttle bus to Chaweng beach. No problem.
All in all we had a phantastic stay and would highly recommend this place to everyone.

We didn't have:

wifi
tv ( just one thai channel)
door didnt work at all, every night we had to wait 30 until they could open it

The receptionist were so rude , they acting like they don't understand when you have problem.
Breakfast is horrible, bees are inside the fruit salad , and the kitcheners didn't even care.

The view from the hotel room is a land with lot of rubbish, we think they put everything there what left from the construction.

The hotel is cheap but if you choose this one you can not enjoy your holiday.

We stayed 6 nights in two connecting rooms, two adults and two children. First we were given the ground floor rooms but changed to second floor later in order to have a proper balcony and less rattling air conditioning - the damage in the A/C unit was probably vandalism as its fan was missing some blades. Staff at reception was helpful and we had no communication issues with them.

Rooms look modern and have nice flat screen TVs but no useful channels at least in my opinion. Beds were hard and they say in the room info folder that you can ask for extra mattress but we slept fine without them. WiFi was constantly being altered so there was some downtime but most of the time it worked fine. There are no computers or recreational facilities other than swimming pool provided by the hotel.

The pool is fairly small and had plenty of chlorine but otherwise good. Breakfast was ok with omelettes made to order, our main complaint about their little outdoor restaurant is that there was lots of flies buzzing around and landing on your food.

As Chaweng center is couple of kilometres away the hotel has complimentary transfer on weekdays 11am to their other hotel in the south end of Chaweng beach. At other times do not bother ordering taxi from reception just stand in the driveway and a bypassing taxi will pick you up in no time. Cost of taxi to Chaweng was 200-300 baht for family. You can walk up the road there are some restaurants and small shops there but the road next to hotel is very busy and with Thai traffic you may not feel comfortable walking there. The lots on both sides of the hotel are not a pretty sight but otherwise you mainly see tropical forest which is not what you would get just a kilometer or two closer to the city.

Walk to the nearest beach Chaweng Noi takes only couple of minutes, a bit down the main road and left. We however chose to go to main Chaweng beach most of the time as there is much more things to see and do.

Nice hotel, new, clean, boutique style . When being lead to our room by bellman we found our room to be occupied already. Bellman excused the mistake and brought us to lobby where we were apologized to and offered an upgrade to a private villa. A very nice way to make up to the guest quickly and showed us they are happy to have us as their guests!!! Well done!

Pros - clean; new rooms; good breakfast; nice clean pool area.

Cons - (i) no beach - although this looks close to a beach if you look on the map, the nearest public access beach is a taxi ride away; (ii) friendly but useless staff - staff barely spoke any English and could not provide any useful information; (iii) poor maintenance - toilet wouldn't flush, light not working was not repaired during our entire stay, no hot water in the sink (had to shave in the shower); (iv) far from everything - there is practically nothing you can walk to from the hotel.

Upon checking out we were informed that 2 towels were missing from the room. We were given the choice of paying 900 Baht or having the maid pay this fee. We most certainly didn't take or lose the towels, and even though this may have been a scam we didn't want the maid to pay the fee. We angrily paid 900 Baht before leaving. This left a bad taste in our mouth.

I recommend you look for a hotel on the beach and avoid this place.

This hotel, would better suit people being named a budget 1 star motel. The list of bad aspects is so extensive, it is infuriating even listing them but here is a few to ensure this hotel is not even worth contemplating...

The beds are so rock hard they are impossible to sleep on, they have also left myself and my three friends with severe back pains
The hotel has a view over an empty lot in which the hotel dumps all of it's trash (we witnessed this multiple times, although they try to do it when nobody is looking)
The showers will constantly flick between scolding hot and an icebath, which was not pleasant to say the least for me, who suffered from severe food poisoning including hot and cold sweats, only encouraged by the varying shower temperature.
The toilet overflowed all over the bathroom, leaving faeces all over the floor.
The rooms were overbooked, putting our group of in a studio room instead of the private pool villa we booked and paid for with no refund, or even sincere apology.
The breakfast is worthy of a 2 star at best, it is a dull variety of dry stale bacon, hard fruit, the eggs are really the only thing worth getting up for, and they are even a little on the dry side.

I have no doubt by the end of your stay at this "luxury" hotel you will feel no less battered and worse for wear than my friends and myself did.

With a small insight into our truly tedious trip, I will finish off on a positive note, the rooms are very lovely, modern, and incredibly spacious, however the resort is definitely nowhere short of a hike to the beach.
