“Great hotel with amazing service!!”
Reviewed 18 September 2012

My friend and I stayed at the Banana Fan Sea Resort for 10 days in early September 2012. I had read some great reviews already so felt very comfortable coming to this resort. Let me first say the thing that really stands out is the service amongst other highlights. The staff went out of their way to make my friend and I feel very at home. Even the head of reservations Mr Choo-In was extremely accommodating when I had to leave the hotel early. He went out of his way to call Expedia and ensure that I was refunded for the days that I was not able to stay. I dont know any other hotel that would do this for a customer who has already pre paid! Thanks again!

The facilities of the hotel are very well kept including a great pool, plenty of deck chairs, well maintained rooms, beautiful tropical gardens and the restaurant is to die for! We ate here for breakfast most days which was great but their lunch and dinner menu takes the cake.

The location of the hotel is about a 10 minute walk into town but for someone who wants a little peace and quiet this was perfect. In addition it is located on the best beach in Chaweng which is quite isolated and very clean. The water is sublime!

The only small issues I would say if I had to would be the internet which is quite slow and the mattresses which are a little hard for my liking. However, during the slow period, I was allowed into the managers office to use his computer which was really nice of him.

Other than that, would definitely come back and certainly recommend to my friend looking to come to Samui,

If you want great value for money, peace and quiet and great service you cannot look past Banana Fan Sea!

Thank you very much for your hospitality Banana Fan Sea!

Marc

Room Tip: Get a room closer the beach as the ones that face the road are a little noisy.

The Banana Fan Sea resort is one of those places that makes you relax the minute you arrive. We arrived really early (7am) and they did their best to accommodate us and our children. we immediately were given a temporary room and they had our rooms ready by about 10:45am! We had rooms 206 & 207. Looking out onto the pool then onto the ocean. Lovely spot. Our friends had room 326 which is also a cracker of a room. This villa style hotel is not the newest of resorts, but is maintained perfectly. The gardens are lovely and ensure privacy between villas. It is in such a great spot that you can walk to the action and come back to the quiet. Perfect! Each day it had a nice cool breeze which was very good considering the heat! Its not too big so you can always find a spot at breakfast and there was always heaps of food. Speaking of food, it was the best I ate on the island. We had a romantic dinner on the beach one night, which I loved, the in-house entertainer, Edgar did his best to create the mood, he's a bit of a character. The only thing I would do differently is have dinner a little earlier than 7:30pm so we could get more of the beautiful sunset! Overall, the staff were very helpful, from the reception to the tour booking desk and housekeeping, all wanting to make sure we were happy. The wait staff are on the beach to take your drink orders - fantastic, and the massage station is set up a few steps away. I will say however, that wasn't the best massage I have ever had, wouldn't go back there again - because there is so much choice on the island, but everything else was so great, and I thank you, Supit, the GM of the Resort for creating an atmosphere that made me feel so comfortable and relaxed and had me checking to see if we could extend our stay. We will be back! They have a Facebook page you can check out!

Room Tip: Book rooms 206, 207 or 326 - they have the best view and breeze! Dinner on the beach - book for app...

Don't be put off by the name! (the resort quite literally has a lot of banana trees in the garden). Banana Fan Sea Resort (BFS) is an absolutely fantastic holiday spot and I have already started recommending that friends stay there if travelling to Samui. The resort is made up of individual bungalow style cabins set amongst some lovely gardens right on a beautiful part of Chaweng beach. We stayed in a pool view room (#326) and highly recommend it as the room looks on both the pool and has views down to the beach. If you have kids this room is perfect for watching them in the pool from your balcony. The beach view rooms would also be fantastic as they just about open out onto the beach. The rooms are comfortable, clean and modern decorated in Thai style.
The resort is not a large one but it has a pool and spa and most people seem to divide their time between the sun lounges by the pool and the resort's sun lounges on the beach. The resort has a beach massage spot which was great.
Baitong Restaurant on site is great. A beautiful position and some of the nicest food we had while on the island. We could have happily had all of our meals there.
What we loved about BFS was it's location. It is situated close enough to the restaurants, shops/markets, clubs, etc. but not so close that they were a bother. Although Chaweng beach is one of the busier ones on the island it is quiet around BFS and the resort keeps it's stretch of the beach clean. I had read on Trip Advisor that the fireworks were a problem. They went off a couple of nights but only a couple and it was no problem (we had young kids and it was still no bother really - we were on holidays and it's not like we had to get up and go to work). The resort has a sign out the front noting that the fireworks are illegal.
For us the staff were a stand out. Normally that would not be enough to make me stay at a particular hotel but everyone from the GM Supit to the restaurant and pool staff were friendly and helpful. Supit seemed to know all of the guests and would come by each morning to say hello at breakfast. Other hotel GMs could learn something from him. I must also mention Edgar the resident musician. He's a great character and make sure you have a night in the restaurant when he is playing.
So lot's of pros for staying at BFS. The only cons would be the mosquitos. Bring insect repellant and you will be fine (plus the staff put mosquito coils and things on at night). Also we stayed with children and were made very welcome. However, there were not a lot of other guests with children but this could have just been that we stayed off peak (30 Aug - 9 Sept).
Overall a top spot and I doubt anyone could be disappointed with it.

Room Tip: #326 good for families Beach rooms would have fantastic views

7 of us travelled together to koh samui, 3 couples and one single woman, our booking was confirmed very quickly after we paid our deposit, we arrived on a stinking hot afternoon and were greeted with friendly staff bearing scented cold face towels and juice two my wife and I and another couple stayed in the pool front villa another couple and the single had the two rooms in the next building keeping us all close together just as we had asked. The bar and restaurant staff were faultless in providing us with fantastic food and ice cold drinks, always with a friendly smile. The rooms and surrounding gardens were immaculate as was the pool area, being on the southern end of chaweng rd it's lovely and quite but still only a short walk to shopping and restaurants. All seven of us have vowed that we will stay here again when we return to koh samui. Thanks again to all the staff for a fantastic holiday!! Cheers

we came here on our honeymoon, and loved it! the service is amazing, the resort is gorgeous and right on the beach. even though Chaweng Beach is can be very loud, Banana Fan Sea is on a very nice and quiet part of the beach which was very enjoyable. Food at their restaurant is AMAZING and very reasonably priced. highly recommended!!

We spent 5 nights at Banana Fan Sea Resort as a family of four, utilising two rooms. Our rooms had everything necessary including bar fridges, air-conditioning, flat screen tv and free wifi although we did stay in the more expensive suites (rooms 416 & 326). Room 416 has its own lounge with separate TV and A/C, beach views and large verandah complete with king sized daybed. Its at the top end of the hotels price range but if privacy and space is required, this is the room to stay! It is difficult to compare resorts, not having stayed at the multitude of other venues on offer, but if we returned to the Chaweng area on Koh Samui, we would without question come back here. In our opinion BFS offers the best combination of pool, restaurant and beach on the Chaweng strip. The hotel staff puts out beach and pool loungers with umbrellas daily as well as fresh beach towels. It is centrally situated, far enough away from the more party orientated resorts futher north up the beach to escape the noise, but close enough if you want to walk to join in! The resort is more old school, offering stand alone garden, pool or beach villa's at a variety of prices. Baitong Restaurant is great too, and not only for a hearty breakfast, but for lunch and dinner too. The staff were always courteous and helpful. Great weather always helps and although not of the hotels doing, we had fantastic sun filled days which added significantly to a great holiday.

Our group of 6 had an amazing time, and we intend to return next year.
At the airport they found us with cold towels and colder bottles of water, exactly what you need in 36 degree heat. While checking in we were given lais and juice, a nice touch.
In all the service was excellent and we found 99 percent of the staff extremely friendly, and amazing to our 3 children.
Bring musquito repellant if you're going to be sitting on your porch alot at night, the shrubbery is beautiful, but buggy.
Great breakfast, great beach, great area of chaweng.
People have mentioned fireworks. They happened twice, didnt wake our children but I can see some people getting annoyed. That said, it happens all over the beach in Chaweng so thats probably not particular to this resort.
All in all amazing holiday.

Room Tip: We saw three rooms. room 327 is right on the beach, best location in the hotel and beautifully appoi...
