“Great beachfront resort with excellent service staff, best location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2012

My friends and I stayed at this resort based on recommendations from other friends. We had a great time there mainly due to the excellent location, and friendly staff.

The resort is located directly on the best beach on Koh Samui and is right on the main walking strip of Chaweng beach. You can get out of your room and walk right onto the white sand beach or right onto the main drag of all the shopping, restaurants bars and clubs.

The staff, especially the duty manager, Yot, was excellent. They took care of us the whole time, offered us free room upgrades, attended to all of our needs instantly and even looked out for us when it was time to check out and we were late getting up.

They were also excellent for arranging excursions, in our case we rented motor bikes from them for the same price as anywhere else. However if you read reviews most places on the island try to rip you off and charge you for damages that you didn't do etc. The Banana Fan staff took care of all that. We took pictures of the bikes like we were told to but it was unnecessary. They made the whole experience painless and enjoyable.

They were very occomodating in every way possible and we cant thank them enough for the good time we had. They arranged airport pickup and drop off in a big comfortable van and it was the same price if not cheaper than any local taxi service.

We stayed in deluxe rooms since the beachfront villas were all sold out, but these rooms were large, spacious, clean and very comfortable. I heard the beachfront rooms are even nicer than those, and next time we will try and check them out.

I would definitely go back and highly recommend this hotel/resort if you plan to stay on Koh Samui and want to be in the best location possible to enjoy your vacation.

Room Tip: Try for the beachfront rooms. The deluxe rooms are a little farther from the beach but are larger a...

I spent 5 nights with my daughter at the Banana Fan Sea Resort.
For 3.5 Days since our arrival, Samui island suffered from an electricity problem. The whole island was blacked out. We heard tourists from other hotels complaining that that they had neither electricity, nor aircoditioning or hot water. But not Banana Fan Sea Resort. It had a perfect supporting generator, and we didn't even feel the power drop.. Service is excellent, rooms are cosy and welcoming, the hotel , pool and surroundings are well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. I highly recommend.

The good
Excellent location away from the center of cheweng, good breakfast included.

The bad
Some of the bungalows are split into two units... Very poor noise insulation from other side
Beds are rock hard
Pre packaged soap cakes are tiny and poor quality
No gym

The ugly
With no disrespect to banana fan, their location is near the obnoxious jet ski rentals which are completely out of control. Novice riders accelerate very loudly with obnoxious speeds with NO respect to any swimmers. Thus when you are in the water out deeper you must be alert that one of these idiots does not hit you. Their needs to be ropes in the water designating a swimming area just as much as there is a rope barrier in the sand next to the beach chairs not allowing the persistent beach vendors to get too close to you as you attempt to relax.

Stayed only for 3 nights...longer would have been much better!
Wonderful scattered villas & beautifully maintained gardens....far better than any hotel style resort!
Fantastic quiet end of great beach but not too far to walk to shops..bars..restaurants ect.
Staff wonderful... very friendly, helpful...and most of all...happy :)
Food & drinks at resort very very good...and great prices! ....lots of 'happy hours' throughout day made it affordable to just chill at the resort!
Dinner on beach a must!!
Heaps of yummy choices for breakfast.
Pool and beach fantastic with plenty of deck chairs to go around.
Massage on beach great & same prices as on street.

Ticked all our boxes for a great holiday and would stay here again.

My husband and I have just returnd from 10 nights at the Banana Fan Sea Resort. This was a belated honeymoon for us and the BFS was absolutely Fantastic. From the minute we arrived to the evening we left [and I have to say there were tears!] we could not have been looked after better by every single one of the staff and management team. This resort has got it absolutely right when looking after holidaymakers. For the first time in our lives we felt like we were staying with one huge family, that is how welcome they made us feel. We truly feel we made friends here and will definitely coming back again and again - sorry everyone at the BFS - you have not got rid of us. To name but just a few of the staff, Supit the General Manager, who personally greeted us every day of our stay and even joined us at the airport for a drink to say goodbye - what service! Mas and Ta, exceptional ladies! Sak in the restaurant, a perfect gentleman and made us laugh daily. Laey, Kong, Pong, Jan and the lovely Sai - always with smiles and cannot do enough for you. Koh, Tuk and Au the pool/beach guys - could not do enough for us and catered to our every needs - we genuinely felt like a King and Queen throughout our entire stay.

The hotel is not huge, but this is what makes it so special. We had a lovely deluxe room which overlooked the gardens and the pool and beach were literally a 2 min walk. Rooms were cleaned daily, we were treated to our room being decorated with flowers and wine and fruit on our first night of our honeymoon - a lovely touch. In the evenings, your beds were turned down, flowers on the pillows and a candle lit in the bathroom.

The restaurant was equally good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a private dinner on the beach one evening - again the staff went to so much effort to decorate our little section of the beach, the table with flowers etc. etc - it could not have been a more magical evening and with Pong looking after us for the evening - perfect.

Location wise, again BFS is perfect. Quiet, great choice of restaurants, shopping and the beach is fantastic down this part of Chaweng Beach. A 10 minute walk and you can then be in the thick of the bars and clubs and noise if you want it - but not for us. This location was just right.

To sum it up, we had the best holiday of our lives, fantastic location, great hotel, absolutely fantastic staff [now our extended family!], good food - what more could you want. We are recommending BFS to all our family and friends.

Can't wait to see you again Supit and the rest of the team.
Michelle and Peter

BFS is in a wonderful location for eating, drinking, shopping and beaching, but quiet and far enough from bars and clubs to feel you are further away. Dining pavillon is right on the beach, so really lovely, as are the tropical beautifully maintained gardens. Breakfast is very good but didn't dine there otherwise..so many options out in the big wide world (particularly Ninja Crepes which is actually fabulous Thai food..no crepes in sight!) The pool is nice early morning before the crowds descend and the beach is pretty good (not compared to Aussie beaches)...discovered a lovely beach further south on our motor scooter adventure.
The staff are good and the Deluxe room small but pleasant and very clean. The massage was excellent and cheap.
