“Great service, great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

Banana Fan was amazing... Great location right on the ocean. The pool and restaurant overlook the sea. You can sit on the beach (comfortable, cushioned lawn chairs) and then rinse off in the outside shower or pool. The massage on the beach was the best I had in Thailand (300 baht for 60 min). Try to strawberry mojito during happy hour (there are two - one from 12-2 and another from 5-7). Service was amazing - a staff member even took our picture at breakfast (which is included and delicious) and hen emailed it to me later. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Monday nights they host an all you can eat BBQ with entertainment for 750 baht ( worth it, for sure). No complaints!!

Hotel area is lovely with well kept garden. Friendly staff and nice pool area. Close to shops and services. Good location on the beach. Room was clean and good, enjoyed the stay here. I can recommend this hotel. Liked Chaweng beach over Lamai.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here from 5/3/2014 to 13/3/2014. We were amazed that on the beach literally means you are right on the beach. We could eat our lovely breakfast and hear the sound of the sea and see the white sand of the beach. Virtually every member of staff was friendly and had a smile on their face. One of the pool men was particularly lovely and looked after my friend Adele and I really well, especially at happy hour. Only downside was the bed which was a bit too firm. The hotel is very clean and the grounds and pool are beautiful.

All staff working at Banana Fan Sea is doing so with a big smile on his/her face. That makes the whole experience for all the guests so very home pleasant and we always felt very very welcome at all time. The location of the hotel is as close as perfect you can get. Away from all the noisy bars and restaurants at Chaweng street, but still close enough to take a fast walk of 5-10 minutes to get into the heart of Chaweng. And the beach area is probably one of the better in chaweng, with free sunbeds and free towels. Although a couple of more sunbeds would have been nice to see.
We had a Deluxe Room room which were very good with everything you need with a good standard. A plus for the flat screen TV which you could easily connect any laptop with hdmi. Rooms are kept clean, and there are free WIFI with good connection about everywhere, even on the beach! And the speed was actually pretty good.
The Baitong hotel restaurant is wonderful with good food for a reasonable price. But what makes the restaurant so special is the amazing view of the Chaweng beach from the restaurant balcony, and the extraordinary service and friendliness from all the staff working there. We ended up eating lunch almost every day there, and many dinners as well. We also enjoyed the entertainment from the singer Edgar during the evenings. It was a nice bonus.
I would like to name every single staff of this hotel as everyone was so nice, but that's not possible. So a big thanks to Yut for genuinely care about everyone having a very good time. And thanks also for picking us up and leaving us at the airport. And a big thanks to On for serving us most of the time in the Baitong Restaurant, and always doing so with a smile and being very attentive and effective. And I also want to give a big thanks to the two gentlemen serving everybody refreshments at the pool and at the beach every single day! Thank you.
To sum it all up, this is a super nice hotel which we enjoyed very much for our 15 nights in March 2014. Maybe it's in the top range pricewise, but if you think about the location and the service I'll have to say this is very good value for money.
Thank you Banana Fan for making me and my friends holiday to a pleasure!

Recently come back from a 6 nights stay in this hotel and i can honestly say it was great, the staff were very friendly and rooms clean. We stayed at Koh Phangnan first then needed find our own way back to Samui i messaged Banana Fan via Facebook for advice on transport to Ko Samui. Supit replied back from the hotel he was very helpful and told us which ferry crossing to get. Upon our arrival he recognised my husband and and asked where i was. He made our stay feel very personal and not just another visitor to the hotel. We were first given a room right by the lobby and not facing the beautiful gardens and asked for a change of room which we did with no problems at all. The pool is lovely and clean and the beach is very beautiful, but the only thing we saw that we didn't like was another guest found a used needle just by her sunbed that anybody could've stepped on, but this was not the hotels fault.

The only thing we can moan about was if you wanted a sunbed get up early and place your towel down (free from the hotel) other wise it was hard to get a spot on the beach, the other holiday makers not sure if russian or czech always had towels out by 7 - 7.30. On our last day we left the sunbed for approx an hour to get some lunch and we came back to find they had been taken, but as it was our last day we left them to it, i do however find they are very rude and abrupt. But don't let this put you off such a lovely hotel. Whilst we were there the sea was quite rough and our hotel had a red flag flying with a lifeguard, we did see some people ignore the flag and even saw 2 girls dragged back to shore as they got into difficulty and were very lucky, so do not ignore the red flag!

The airport at Samui has to be the best I've seen its beautiful. We ate out a lot an our favourite place to eat was the Indian on the opposite side of banana fan (turn right as you come out) and its right next door to the italian think it was called the tandoori hut.

a must have is ice cream from Johnny from the beach, and corn on the cob, fresh melon and coconut on the beach, the corn on the cob is vert salty but tasty too.

a big thank you to Supit and the staff

Recently spent 4 nights here and was so glad we chose this hotel. The location is without a doubt the best part of Chaweng beach white soft sand and the beach is wonderful, a few waves and so clean. We stayed in a bungalow behind the pool, you could see the ocean from our verandah. The room was lovely, very comfortable and clean and the bathroom was fine. The gardens are tropical and well maintained. Loved the breakfast, and we ate there at lunch a few times and had dinner on the beach which was so pleasant.loved the entertainment, an older phillipino guy singing he was so good. The staff are so helpful and friendly, they go out of their way to assist you and ensure your comfort.I enjoyed the pool there were plenty of sun beds and also on the beach as well. Booked a few tours at the front desk she was so helpful and efficient. We stayed at 3 different places in Thailand and this was our favourite.Had a few massages and the girls were fantastic! Cant wait to come back one day.

We recently stayed at the Banana Fan Sea Resort for 2 nights. I was a bit apprehensive as we hadn't been to Chaweng before so just picked it from viewing it online. I thought the name sounded a little...dinky, but soon discovered it's named after the beautiful banana fan palm trees that are dotted around the hotel grounds.

The resort itself is situated on what has to be the best part of Chaweng's beach. We walked from one end of this beach to the other, and it was only this mid-section that had sand as soft as powder. The beach here was also super shallow, had the most beautifully clear water and was a delight to swim in (other than the sunburn). We'll be staying here again one day for the beach alone.

The resort itself was very pleasant. The staff were all friendly, the breakfast delicious and in a good spot. The pool was nice but odd-shaped - where it had a shallow rim, but the middle was actually quite deep, that made it a bit uncomfortable for just bobbing in. There were two raised shallow spa type areas though which i suppose would be perfect if you had kids here.

The pool area itself was clean, though some of the towels were a bit on the manky side and could use replacing with new ones.

The room was a raised hut of sorts and set amongst the beautiful tropical gardens of the hotel. Everywhere you go you hear running water, and are shaded by the magnificent palms. The room itself was fine - our room had a queen sized bed and another slightly larger than single. As we were just a couple, I'm not sure how we ended up with this room. Basic facilities were provided in the room, including moisturizer which was great for the sunburn!

If I had any room complaints it would be that the bed was actually very hard - i slept quite well in it, but it was rock hard. It was also difficult to cover the windows completely with the curtains, so the room was a lot lighter than I like.

Each night the hotel sets up a restaurant on the beach, which considering how awesome the sand is (it's seriously so soft!), it was great to sit down there. On Monday nights they do an all you can eat BBQ buffet - which was fairly average i thought. It seemed light on actual barbeque, with many standard buffet fare food there instead. I was hoping for some seriously delicious spit-roast meat, or skewers etc - but there was really not much to be found.

The BBQ entertainment was a couple singing - initially just a guy, and then a pacific islander dancing show.... I can honestly say this was terrible. The guy...Banana Friend, has an awful voice, and his female companion was likewise awful. The dancing show was accompanied by the most cheesiest voice over dialogue i've ever heard...think like early 80's american voice over guy......how about some traditional thai dancing? Thailand has such an amazing culture - including dancing, and we get this...crap! Likewise, lose the singers.....either some relaxing music, or someone with a decent voice. While we thoroughly enjoyed eating on the beach, having that guy crooning in the background was a real detraction. It did crack me up when he wanders through the diners though, like some kind of super minor celebrity!

Anyway all in all, this hotel is too be recommended. Great location, mostly comfortable room, good food, and on what has to be the best portion of beach i've found on Samui to date.
