- GREAT location with a beautiful, clean, almost private beach only a few feet from the pool!
- Definitely on the pricier side (some drinks were as expensive as being in the US!!) but it was our honeymoon so....
- Free shuttle to Chaweng Beach "city" area which is pretty much like other city areas - lots of restaurants, massage shops, vendors, etc.
- Free Wifi
- QUIET and RELAXING! We spent so much time either at the beachside bar enjoying the cocktails/beer and amazing view or relaxing in one of their lounge chairs (available on both the beach and pool area - 2 free towels/day too)
- Spa and treatments were amazing!
- We would highly recommend this place but it is definitely on the more expensive side

We booked this hotel because of the many positive feedbacks on Tripadvisor. After arrival at approx. 10:00 am we were told that the room will be ready not before 2pm what we understood. But then? That was it. We used a public restroom to get rid of the winter clothing and packed this into our handluggage and started to explore the resort ourselves. Dirt all over. The pool area was full with guests and only on request, two small towels were given to us. No beach bed was available so I asked for assistance to get two to rest some hours until the room was ready. Two desinterested guys from the pool staff arranged the beach beds and placed them on the sand. Another guest moved her beach bed closer to the beach and was ragged not to do so. These were our first impressions.

We were hungry and ordered from the restaurant two vegetarian salads. What was brought were two salads with seafood.

After 2pm we asked at the reception for the room again. It was not ready. After insisting that after 24 hours of travelling we needed the room, one person finally accompanied us to the room. Our reservation was for one room ground floor. "Our" room was in the third floor. It was old, dirty, not correctly cleaned, the electrical system was partly damaged, the shower head was so old and dirty that one must be afraid not to receive unknown bacteria infection. We asked for talking to the hotel manager which was ignored several times. As a result, we finally decided not to stay even one night in this terrible environment. We found a very attractive alternative immediately. Better some waste of money than trouble for 2 weeks with ignorant and not helpful staff. We cannot understand why so many positive comments have been written about this place.

Our stay at Nora Beach was amazing. The staff were very friendly and happy to help in any way. The bungalow-type rooms were quite quaint and perfectly sized for the two of us. The pool area was well equipped and the pool staff were easy to talk to. The spa alongside the pool was very nice and offered a great range of treatments. The restaurant staff were very friendly and more than willing to accommodate our requests. Overall a great resort far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of Chaweng Beach but close enough for a 5min taxi ride to get to the fun.

Stayed here over Christmas and it was a wonderful trip. The Nora Beach is a delightful place with a gorgeous pool right on the beach. The hotel has it's own beach so the few traders that come along the beach aren't allowed onto the private area.

We arranged for the hotel to pick us up from the airport and they were waiting and charged 400 Baht for the ride. The hotel is literally just a few minutes drive away so the 400 Baht seemed rather steep and they charged 300 Baht for the return journey. (Be aware that taxi fares are much more expensive in Samui than in Bangkok and taxis do not use their meters - you need to negotiate a price before entering. Example Chaweng to Bo Phut will be 300-400 Baht).

The hotel lobby is beautifully done in Thai style and were welcomed with a drink and refreshing towel then taken down to our villa. The villa itself was fine but showing signs of age, a few rusting bits here and there and things that with a bit more TLC could make it great. The villa was a good size and had an outdoor shower but was oddly designed in that if you were in the bath, unless you pulled the blind, the people form the main building could see in. We had a decent balcony but because it was north facing made the room a little dark at times.

The bathroom was fine though strangely had the wardrobe and safe in there! The beds were firm but not uncomfortable and the TV was rather ancient and in need of updating (especially as I saw into some other rooms who seemed to have something from this century)!

But we weren't there to spend time in the room but to enjoy the beach and pool. Sitting on the beach looking out was so relaxing. The water was a little choppy but clean though it gets deep quickly.

The restaurant is fine and the breakfasts were buffet style and proved adequate but the food standard was acceptable rather than great. Perhaps a bit more quality over quantity would be better! There was a fresh egg station - though occasionally a short wait as only two servers.
We had lunch from the pool menu once which was ok. There are several happy hours at the bars throughout the day - cocktails on the beach from 5-7 at half price was great! The Nora Rama was particularly tasty (and fattening I'm sure along with their sumptuous smoothies).

Didn't try the spa as it seemed expensive compared to the numerous spas in Chaweng.

As for those people saying how far out of town the Nora Beach is...it isn't. We strolled into town in 20-30 minutes and there are plenty of restaurants and spas even before that. Just a small hill on the way into town and there are Jeepney style vehicles passing all the time if you want a ride into town. There is a 7-11 and a few shops very close by and a laundry service.

I'd almost give this place 5 stars but the service occasionally lets it down. The bar staff were often slow, once day the room cleaner tried to come and we told her to come back in 5 minutes but she never returned so we had to call and get them to come later...and then they forgot to leave towels!

There is free Wi-Fi throughout though the signal is weak in the restaurant area. The gym is barely passable - just a few pieces of equipment that could do with updating but sufficed for a few days.

It was a totally relaxing break and I would stay here again.

My family booked this hotel for the Christmas/New Year holidays and we spent 10 nights there.

When we first arrived I was bitterly disappointed. The hotel was so old…you feel like you are stuck in 80s. There was nothing particularly wrong, but the vibe was so tired. It was quite disappointing.

We staid in the superior rooms and my parents stayed at Nora villa. There is really not much difference between the rooms and my parents actually liked our room more because of the balcony and light. Nora villa was quite dark.

The bed in the room was very hard…it was almost worth sleeping on the floor. To be fair when I called the reception and asked if anything can be done about it, they sent a room service for the extra softer mattress to be added to the bed.

The pool in the hotel is large, but dated.

Overall, the hotel is ok, but for the price we paid I was expecting something a bit more modern. The décor and the facilities are VERY BASIC.

Now, the worst thing about this resort is the food. Thailand is the land of amazing and tasty food no matter where you eat it: at the beautiful upmarket restaurant or on the street, but this hotel had the worst food ever.

The breakfast included in the price was very plain. Everything was very greasy and unpleasant. Cheese, yogurt and meats were not kept in the fridge. At the end of the trip we did not even bother going there, 5 minutes from the hotel there was a number amazing places where you can get great thai food for breakky at approx $10 for 2 pp.

As we stayed there during New Year, there was a compulsory GALA. That was a torture! Again the food was terrible. We had 6 ppl at our table and the only food we ate was a little bit of sushi (again in the hot weather we did not feel fully comfortable with it) and some fruits. There were plenty of fish and prawns, but the way they were cooked was just terrible (!!!) Next day we spoke to some hotel guests (from AU and USA) and they found the food to be really bad too. The other thing that everyone was surprised with…no alcohol was included. Considering approx $180 pp paid for this GALA they could have offered at least some basic drinks.

The beach was very dirty and we were not able to swim there. We actually walked along the beach to the other hotels’ beaches (nearby) which were much cleaner. The hotel did not make any attempt to clean the beach and make it a little bit more pleasant.

The good thing about this hotel is the location…it’s not directly in Chaweng, so you don’t have the backpackers’ crowd all the time (not that there is anything wrong with it), but it’s not that far as well. Standard taxi fare is 200BHT.

The bar staff and the room service staff were extremely good and helpful. They basically saved our holidays!
Overall extremely disappointing stay. I will not recommend this place and there are plenty of other places to stay in Koh Samui.

The other thing I would like all travellers to note is that when I tried to book the Airport Transfer from the airport to the hotel (approx 7min) I was advised that the price is 500 BHT. I contacted some other companies and got a quote for 400. I emailed the hotel explaining that I they advised they would be able to match the price.

I was very surprised when upon arrival I saw the hotel’s official price list quoting 300 BHT for the airport transfer. I understand such behavior from the taxi driver you get on the street, but not from the official hotel staff.

Also, the driver requested the payment in cash, which was fine and we gave him agreed 400 BHT. How surprised we were when upon checking out the hotel staff claimed that they don’t have any record of us paying. The whole thing took about 15-20 min to resolve. Very unpleasant ending of a very unpleasant stay!

Again, if you have a choice, stay somewhere else.
