We spent three days here in July and had a wonderful time. We stayed in one of the Nora villas overlooking the central green area. It was lovely and serene. The pool area is nice, though there were several families when we were there so it became a bit loud. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the waiters were very attentive. We happened upon a free happy hour with appetizers and life music (which they apparently do once a week), which was lovely until it began raining. We also ordered room service one night and were very happy with the food.

We both got massages at the spa, which has open air rooms right next to the ocean. The prices were reasonable and the massages were excellent. In order to get into the heart of the city, you either had to take a transfer or a taxi, which was one of the only limitations of the location. One advantage of this, however, was that is was located away from the crazy beach crowds. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to friends.

Nora beach hotel was our honeymoon destination and after reading reviews on tripadvisor know it was the one.
on arrival we were greeting with a cooling drink and intro to the complex. i was half expecting an upgrade but was not given one. however to be honest the room was fantastic, even if it was a steep climb to the top!
the bed had petals in the shape of a heart and the bath too was filled with beautiful petals.
as we arrived late we simply went to the beach bar and restaurant. we quickly discovered it wasnt cheap in the bar/restaurant.
getting into town is easy enough but it is quite fun to walk it the first time- took about 25 minutes.
restaurants i would advise: red snapper with live music in the lounge bar, poppies, the cliff but dont expect it to be cheap! you will be paying pretty much what you would pay in london for a good meal with wine.
some of the local places are just a good in terms of food and service just without the table setting and surroundings. also try the night market near the lake- great food and cocktails at 'real thai prices!'
the weather was great for the first 4 days of our fortnight but the remainder was unfortunately terrible as a monsoon hit the island.
the staff were amazing and very lovely, as we were there over christmas we had the festive works! they tried very hard to make it a special time and they succeeded!
just a bit of advice, we went to am thang waterfall and half way up were greeted by a little thai man waving us up. up and up and up.... an hour later sweating like the preverbials we were in the most fantastic fresh water lake, an oasis! it was glorious and he was a great guide- helping me when it got a bit tricky. i would strongly reccommend the journey BUT perhaps not in flip flops which is what my husband and myself were wearing! the trek down was even funnier- we ached for days after!
oh and the gym is great! no extra cost and a fab treadmill and bike.
i did induldge in a spa treatment which was very relaxing and professionally done but at £50 for 2 and a half hours ( of course in london this is a bargain) you can get the same treatment much cheaper elsewhere.

This was an excellent resort. The service was exceptional, the rooms were fantastic and the food was great (best breakfast buffet and Friday night seafood dinner). We stayed for 4 nights and it was not long enough. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We were not sure where to stay and what to expect, but after getting there I can tell you we made the best choice. Thanks Nora beach , we will be back!

Stayed a wonderful 9 nights at the Nora Beach and cannot wait to visit again.

A group of 10 of us stayed at the hotel for our wedding which was arranged by the wedding planner at the Nora Beach, Lloyd.

The hotel was wonderful. From the time we arrived we were made welcome from the very friendly staff and management. The reception area is a wonderful entrance to the hotel giving a real tropical feel to the hotel.

The rooms were all excellent, very well set out and furnished with all the facilities you would expect. If you needed something extra, like an iron and ironing board, they would quickly bring one to your room.

The grounds were very welcoming with trees and plant life everywhere with butterflies and birds regular visitors around the rooms and dragonflies around the pool.

Can honestly not think of any negatives about the hotel and would visit again in a second.

The wedding was all arranged by the wedding planner Mr Lloyd who made the arrangements for the legal paperwork to be done in Bangkok and then all the arrangements for the ceremony, flowers, food and photographer.

On our first day a wedding was taking place and we saw the care and attention that was put into the setting up of the area, where management made sure that everything was just right.

The day of our wedding came and everything was superb. We had gone for a thai style wedding that started with a long drum parade, then three monks blessing us, followed by the exchange of rings and vows with the celebrant, then planting the love tree followed by th elegal ceremony with the local official. We then had a private lunch and onjoyed our afternoon in the pool prior to a private bbq on the beach on the evening.

Everything went really smoothly and I cant imagine a better, or more relaxed wedding with so little stress.

The only thing that may stop us visiting the Nora Beach again is the new hotel just down the beach, the Nora Buri. Mr Lloyd saw us looking at it from the beach and gave us a tour of the hotel and it looks superb. Will certainly be looking for the rates when it opens - I think later this year

When i first walked into the lobby after spending a few days in Bangkok i knew my holiday had just begun.

The staff greeted me with a cold towel and coconut juice and a friendly smile. The lobby itself was a piece of art and the adjacent waterfall to the lobby was very calming after the plane ride. The lobby also has free internet access for guests to use.

I had a wedding booked at Nora Beach Resort and as soon as i had checked in my wedding planner came to greet me and make sure everything was OK. Lloyd did such a great job with the wedding from my first e-mail enquiry to the day i departed. I had my reservations about an overseas wedding, but i assure you a wedding at this hotel will be the wedding of your dreams!

Lloyd was able to book me an elephant to arrive on with my dad and a Harley Davidson for my husband to arrive on, which will be a moment of the wedding that i will remember forever. Other touches like planting a love tree, the gorgeoug ceremny and reception set-up, the beautiful words in the ceremony, the Thai dancers and, of course, Abel, and his showband really made the day and night one i will always cherish.

Besides from my wedding though, the hotel has fantastic service, large rooms...i was fortunate enough to stay in a Nora Ocean Pool Villa (free upgrade) for the last few days of the stay and a Nora Pool Villa (free triple upgrade) for the first few days of the stay.

The pool villas are basically a one bedroom house that i would love to live in forever. Spacious bathrooms, bedroom and living room with access to your pool from the living room. These rooms come complete with waterfall outside shower and outdoor sala which is fantastic for relaxing in with a drink and a magazine.

The Nora Pool Villas are exactly the same as the Nora Ocean Pool Villas in layout but the Nora Pool Villas are more private and the Ocean Pool Villas are basically set on the sand with the blue water as your front yard.

I checked out the other rooms too (my friends and family had different type rooms) and all seem to be very spacious with wooden decor.

I stayed at the Sala Samui for my honeymoon in a Garden Pool Room and if i was to go back i would definately come to Nora Beach Resort. The Sala was a bit too quiet and away from Chaweng although it is a fantastic 5 star hotel in its own right.

The Nora Beach Resort and Spa has a very friendly/outgoing vibe to it but the the tropical feel of the resort with its lush trees also makes this hotel quite romantic.

Chaweng South i found had the best beach, Chaweng has the best shopping and Nightlife but for restaurants i definately recommend going to the Fisherman's Village at Bophut...very trendy mediteranian looking small restaurants and bars with amazing views and not busy and smelly like Chaweng.

Stayed at the Nora for two weeks in Aug 08. Nice room, shame about the linen service. Was told by the manager that bed sheets were changed daily showed the manager this was not the case as dirty sheets had simply been turned over. No apology from the manager at all. Food at breakfast was ok; the rest was overpriced motorway food.
As we were staying for our honeymoon we received a complementary upgrade from a villa to a suite, which was a nice touch. Room service food outclassed the restaurant food, how that was achieved I have no idea!
Hotel grounds were kept well and had no complaints there, staff were friendly, manager was not very responsive.
Chaweng was a real tatty let down but cabs were reasonable to other bays on the island.
