i stayed here with friends and was very happy with the stay, greated by cocktail bearing smiling watresses and the rooms where lovely, it was like the location of the hotel as it was a way from the main strip to sleep but close enough to walk

I booked into the Beachcomber on Nov. 21st for three nights but was so pleased with the hotel that I stayed for eleven nights. And another friend took a beachside bungalow for the same period. The rooms have been recently upgraded - very large, clean, balconies. good A/C, good clean bathrooms. No fault. Excellent staff. Very helpful who all spoke perfectly adequate English. The breakfast - included - was probably too much !! Large juice, plate of fruit, full fry freakfast - eggs, ham, bacon, good coffee, toast, butter and jam, with top ups offered. Free beach loungers. The perfect location right in the center of Chaweng beach and far enough away from the noisy bars of North Chaweng. Beach in front of Beachcomber also probably best swimming location on Chaweng. So good, I have rebooked to return to Beachcomber in the New Year for another week. My only gripe is that the beachside bar and restaurant close at 6pm, exactly when I like to have my beers. But loads of local nearby choices.

Room Tip: If you can afford the little extra the beachside bungalows are excellent. Otherwise the garden rooms...

Beachcomber, Chewang is very special. My boyfriend and I spent 10 nights at this hotel and our experience was fantastic, we immediately felt at home and were extremely happy with the helpful service and friendliness of the staff. Everything was perfect. Accommodation was extremely cheap as we travelled during low season and the location was perfect, close to all amenities and shops, the beach directly infront is the cleanest patch of all Chewang in my opinion, not too close to all the noisey nightclubs, but close enough to walk down during the evening. The staff were very sweet and we became friends with the young gentleman who served our breakfast each morning. I look forward to returning to Beachcomber in the near future and hope our friends are still working there.

Room Tip: Stay closer to the north side on Chewang. Accommodation doesn't have to be amazing but I'd r...

On the 2nd night of our stay on my girlfriend's birthday of all evenings, we were robbed. There was no forced entry to the hotel room. However, the room safe's front panel had been levered off (luckily as a safe they didn't get in so my laptop and our passports were saved). They took a rucksack and filled it with my clothes, my girlfriend's jewellery, perfume, iPod and a few other items. In itself this was bad enough but even more appalling was the way we were treated by the hotel. Firstly the staff sneered and laughed at us when we told them what happened and lied when they said they called the police. So we had to call the police ourselves who did nothing when they arrived. After a few hours’ sleep the next day the managing director Peter Bader showed up and seemed polite and offered us an upgraded room initially. He explained that the security guard had a night off and it is likely they got in via the back patio doors. However, after he left the receptionist came to me and said that we would have to pay 3200THB to get Elsafe out to open the safe. I called Peter and asked what was going on and his tone had completely changed and suggested that we had staged the robbery and actually said that he thought we had levered the panel off the front of the safe! I asked him for what possible purpose we would do this, we were not insured and it was preposterous that we would do such a thing. It seems for the sake of 3200THB (around 100USD) he would rather accuse us of the crime than take responsibility and pay for the safe.
To be honest this made us feel more appalled and disgusted than the robbery itself. Once we got the safe open we checked out and left. They even tried to get us to pay for the missing hair dryer that was stolen! Asking around at the very friendly and helpful local Irish pub (Tropical Murphys) we found out that there were several other robberies in the area that night. We strongly advise you steer well away from this horrible place with horrible people.

This is a very poor hotel. It is of budget quality which is fine, except they don't charge budget prices! when we arrived, they did not have our booking, despite booking through their website. When we came back after being out, our key card wouldn't work. We went to reception and were given a replacement, without even being asked our room number - that didn't work either. Eventually the guy at reception came down and opened the door for us. The next day we had the same problem after coming back from breakfast. On checking out we were finally told we should have had 2 cards - 1 for the door and 1 for electricity but we were only given 1.

There was no mini-bar in the room - not that we would have used it, but if it is stated in their information booklet in the room then it should be there. Also, the swimming pool was empty at the time. While they were charging promotional prices at the time, even these were far too expensive for what it was. I dread to think what the full price would be!

All in all, it's not great. The room smelled a bit musty, I don't think it had been stayed in for a while. Brown water came out of the taps for the first 10 seconds and then ran clear. Cold shower. The pool is terrible, brown and full of rubbish. Good location for the beach but not worth the price. The staff were helpful and friendly. I wouldn't stay again.

This is a nice hotel with a great location. Management were exceptionally helpful and I would thoroughly recommend especially to those who want to be close to Chaweng nightlife but still on the beach.
