Little disappointed regarding the kids club which was just an small room with a few old toys. However, didn't really use it because all the kids were playing on the beautiful sandy beach and splashing around the pool. We went in August and there were plenty of school kids for our 7 year-old to make friends with. Breakfast bar was fine and the evening selection varied and interesting. Room was spacious and good enough - didn't need the private pool room for sure. Not cheap but certainly recommend this place for a 10 days or so chill out.

Room Tip: One Bedroom Suite was plenty of space !

This motel is an amazing place. Location is fabulous. On the beach, close to shops. Clean service is great. Been there twice would stay there again. Koh Samui is just beautiful . I would give it 10 out of 10..

Spent 10 nights here lovely hotel with open plan reception also well situated on Chaweng beach.Certainly not a five star maybe 4 star just.
Like so many others who have reported, it depends on what room you get. We booked a "Superior Delux" & very disappointed (room234) small room with grubby shower & you can hear the music till late into the night from across the road. Spoke with one of the managers at reception about the room size etc & got nowhere with him. (Not a good start)
Joined the Club lounge i know not everybody can afford it but it was was worth every penny made FULL use of the drinks at 17.30 the girls that worked in there were terrific the service was second to none.
Hotel is pricey if you drink in there made that mistake the first night so ventured out every night & sampled the great range of food & drinks along the road.

Room Tip: Higher rooms you get a good view stay away from block 2/3 but the manager said i paid extra for this...

Stayed here early Nov 2012...arrived around 11:30pm their time which was around 3:30am our time so we were extremely happy with the quick check-in so we could dump our bags and get some sleep for the start of our holiday. We then woke up to rain the next morning, overcast all day and then more rain most of the afternoon...great start to a holiday I thought! But from then on it was clear sunny HOT days the rest of the trip. We stayed here 8 nights in a delixe room in building 8 on the top floor...definately the best views from our room I thought! The room was clean and well maintained although the shower did spill out onto the bathroom floor everytime we showered but nothing to put a dampen on the trip. The location of the hotel is brilliant, everything is at your doorstep and the further up you walk the busier it gets. Their are plenty of restaurants to choose from both thai and other cuisines. We only ever ate breakfast in the hotel and around the pool as the prices were double the price. In saying that though the breakfast buffet was amazing! The beach is fabulous, warm and clear and the pool is just as good. It may have just been the time of year we chose to go but the hotel was quiet and there were never any problems with getting a chair by the pool or on the beach at any time of the day. If you get a chair by the pool though then you avoid trying to get anything sold to you on the beach as they don't come onto the hotel grounds. I would easily reccommend this hotel to anyone and I would easily come back to this hotel again!

Room Tip: Don't at all hesitate to upgrade to a Deluxe room on the top floor....it only cost us an extra...

Stayed here for 6 nights in a Pool Deluxe Club room. Hotel is beautiful and the staff are very friendly, they couldnt do enough for us. Fantastic room with a private pool which came in handy with the awsome weather. Food great. Club room staff the best.. Close to shops and restaurants.

Just returned from a 10 day stay at the centara Grand Beach Resort, when we first arrived we were shown to our room number 127 which was a disappointment, I had emailed the hotel and requested a room in blocks 7 or 8 but was told these were being refurished. The only good thing about room 127 was the view from the balcony, the room needed a total refurb, there was rust around the air con until, which also leaked onto the tiled floor which was dangerous and the shower unit was very scruffy. We had no sleep all night as the noise from the road went on until 4am. We agreed to stay in this room for the first night as it was late but the next day after speaking with the Manager we were moved to room 327. Much nicer room, had recently been refurbed and further away from the road so no night noise.
This hotel is 17 years old, the reception area and outside areas are all lovely. The pool and beach area is great and the staff really friendly. The breakfasts cannot be faulted amazing choice.
The hotel is in a quieter part of Cheweng but still close enough to walk to all the night life.
The price of the drinks in the hotel are expensive but they dont mind you buying beers from the local 7 11 which is just across the road and putting them in your fridge. We did this and just went and got them to drink around the pool when we wanted. Some people bought beers from the local teller on the beach which again they did not seem to mind. I think they are missing a trick as if they reduced their prices people would simply buy from them, having said that we did used to try some of the frozen cocktails which were very nice.
The food around the pool is not badly priced.
I had a massage on the beach just to the right of the hotel which was very relaxing.
Overall this hotel is in a good location, has very nice amenities and friendly staff, just make sure you have a refurbished room and you,ll have a great time as we did.

Room Tip: Book a room on the 2nd floor, avoid block 1 as a lot of road noise.

Room:
Initially wanted to stay in next level up from Basic, but were none available for our selected dates, so had to settle for basic anyway.
I was a little nervous about the rooms, having read tripadvisor reviews. My fears were founded in the 1st room we were allocated. The smell was musty, the A/C was noisy, and shower drain and overflow outlet drain were blocked. We had it "unblocked" after our 1st complaint, but it did nothing to improve it on next use. When we informed reception in person, we were immediately upgraded to a top floor (next price level up) room, which had a bath. This room was cleaner, bigger, and AC more quiet, and no mouldy musty smell, and a drain that worked. The view from top floor is awesome...
I was pleased to see there are renovations going on, to upgrade the rooms. It's the end of wet season, so a good quiet time to do it.
Reception: Not pushy, but not informative either. Found out from a fellow Aussie traveller that we could have purchased value for money "hotel dollars" for use in the in house facilities, ie Bars and snacky stuff around pool, but alas we didn't know... She was having a massage in the spa, with her left over dollars.
Facilities:
Used the gym, was simple without having top of the line equipment, but did the job.
Pool is one of the stand outs, well designed, you don't feel like you know what everyone else is doing around you. Lounges easy to get. Lunch service buzzer system a little haphazard at times, easier to get up to get your own. Swim up bar awesome, cocktails great - depending on who makes them, Vivienne (swiss work experience girl) was welcoming and genuine.
Only had one buffet, which was the "street food" buffet - save time, eat in restaurants nearby for flavour and taste - but I guess they cater to the less adventurous.
Breakfast Buffet good, without being great (I had to stop comparing to the Padma Bali Breakfast Buffet {best ever}).
I loved the friendly cats on the property, but non cat lovers may not.
I looked forward to 07.15 AM Yoga - on the lawn overlooking the sea.
The beach out the front of the hotel, is the standout for the hotel, white sands, clear waters, warm water. You can hire kayaks for 100Baht/hr.
The hotel is not cheap, but not super expensive.
I would return, especially if the prices don't go up, with the renovations happening... I think it was a bit too overpriced for it's current state of repair, especially the state of the first room we were allocated.

Room Tip: Not 219, and yes, we were transferred to a higher room, after flooding (from poor shower drainage) i...
