Lovely resort though old but still decently kept. We had one of the ground floor rooms, traditionally decorated and very basic that we can just walk to the beach nearby. The pool and the sea is lovely.

We spend the full moon night here, just chilling by the beach having our own party and dipping in the sea at night. It was lovely. Breakfast here is great and have a huge variety of choices.

Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Overall very decent

Very nice resort with excellent situation at the South end of Chawang Beach. Short walk to some good restaurants, especially the ones on the beach. Friendly staff who tried their hardest although their English was occasionally a problem. The bed was a little too firm.

set on the beach about 2 mile from the centre of chaweng , the dining area overlooks the sea, it has beautiful views without a doubt.
unfortunately the hotel itself is very disapointing, we were a family of 2 adults and 1 child, we were put in a twin room; with an extra bed stuck in the corner, leaving very little room to walk between the beds, the wardrobe space was a joke, a huge safe was stuck in the middle of the wardrobe so you were left with only half the hanging space, there were no drawers whatsoever in the room. The bedding was changed twice in the 2 weeks we were there, and bedding which they put on was soiled with blood.Getting back to the safe , it was freestanding, not attatched to anything so you could lift it out if you wanted to.
tThe restaurant staff were slow and unfriendly , at breakfast you had to chase them around the room for a top up for coffee, we were half board but only ate twice in the restaurant having food poisoning after eating there, i was wiped out for 2 days. We chose instead to go into chaweng to eat. The staff spoke very little english.
the price of the drinks at the bar were overinlfated, a beer costing 4 x for a bottle what you could pay at the supermarket 400 yards away.I read reviews but ignored them , PLEASE be cautious, we were refunded by our travel agent because of our experience, dont let your holiday be spoilt by a badly run sub standard hotel.

Room Tip: try a different hotel

We came as a party of four and stayed two nights. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was healthy and adequate for our tastes - and I must commend the lady egg station chef who consistently made the BEST eggs. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and we did not lack for anything. And the beach ! Super clear waters and shallow, too - one would have to walk miles to reach to hip-level. We spent two evenings just chilling at the beach in our own makeshift "bar" (consisting of beach loungers and two tables!) and the staff were helpful in coming over to replenish our ice buckets and sending over pizzas well into midnight. Coming now to a serious dent to our staying pleasure - on the 3rd September 2012 at 7.45am, when we were supposed to be picked up by IN SEA SPEEDBOAT company for a snorkeling trip to Koh Tao and Koh Nangyuan that we had booked a week ago via TOURS KOH SAMUI (we did not know that our trip would be subbed to IN SEA SPEEDBOAT by the company we booked with). We were on time and in good spirits but the driver of the pickup van clearly wasn't, and informed us that we were late thus forced others to wait on us (we were certainly not - we were right on time according to the instructions in the online voucher, a hotel message and a reminder email). The driver of IN SEA then actually shouted and fetched a covered machete/big knife from the front passenger seat in an attempt to threaten my boyfriend. This occurred right in front of me. We were horrified and immediately cancelled the trip, the van sped off with more threats from the driver to come back and so we proceeded to ask the Front Office staff (who heard the shouting and was also told off by the driver) to assist. Front Office Manager Ms Tania/Tanya was helpful and did everything she could - she called the police and the matter was sorted out an hour later with everyone involved present. My concern is that the General Manager of Chaba Cabana did not make an appearance to speak to us. Again, I must reiterate that the staff members did all they could to help us but where was the General Manager? Why did he/she leave the hotel front liners by themselves to handle a serious issue that occurred on the property? A point to ponder upon for other happy travelers to Koh Samui who are considering Chaba Cabana, and who may possibly encounter such an unhappy and unsought-for situation like we did.

We stayed at this hotel in august and final impression after is a big dissapointment.

The biggest dissapointment is staff, they hardly speak English and dont understand almost NOTHING.
Room wasnt very clean, i think floor wasnt washed even once...
Shampoos, lotions, gels etc - the worst i ever saw in my life. And i saw a lot... We were family of 3 people and all we got was all this in quantity of 1 piece for all of us. Is this normal? Dont think so... Shampoo had very bad quality, it wasnt enought 1 bottle for one time and as i said we had one bottle for three of us....
Breakfast..... Bad quality, same very small choice every day, nothing new in all 12 days... Fruits are tasteless.... Staff is rude, very slow, absolutelly not helpfull, cant understand nothing except: coffee/tea please.... Frozen if u ask them smth more.... Where were all famous thai smiles???? Not in this hotel for sure...
Hotel restaurant was empty all the time, never saw people there.. Ok, this i understand, how to see them there?! Probably its enought for them to try chaba cabana breakfast...
But the biggest dissapointment for us was the check-out. First day we took two beers from mini bar by misstake, cause confused beer we bought with the one that was in mini bar. After that to avoid this situation again we removed all the stuff from mini bar on the top of the fridge and NEVER touched it again. When we were leaving our room the last day we puted all back into the fridge and went to the reception to check-out. When they checked mini bar it were two beers missing and they said us to pay it (plus same beers we drunk first day, that we of course we going to pay). But we never again took nothing from their minibar, it was all on the top WARM, how to drink it. They just didnt refill it after the first day... I wasnt going to pay these two beers, but we had car waiting for us, and didnt simply had time to talk to them. Plus if u try to explain them smth they r frozen, i was for 10' trying to explain them that we didnt take nothing from there, but its pointless when people dont undertand nothing except ur room number. This was the last drop. This is not the way to treat guests in the hotel of 4* category. In any hotel actually. We payed them this money, but their face was lost forever...
We spoke to another people staying there and all they were dissapointed.

Only good impression was after hotel spa. Was visiting it 4 times, and all the time was satisfied! Staff their is GREAT! Treatment is also great! But unfortunatelly even this positive point cant make my impression from the whole hotel better.

If i ever back to Samui, i would never stay there again! And never would advise it to someone. In the Samui island there are so many nice hotels for same price. Take some time and find smth better to avoid ur vacations to be spoiled.
