We travelled from Australia to meet up with family travelling from the UK to this hotel. We'd read reviews previously and were prepared for the quirky decor. We stayed in a villa and this was by far the best way to go. If you're looking for five star flash don't stay here. If you're looking for clean, as close to the beach as you can possibly get, friendly staff and a hearty breakfast then this is the place for you. It's easy walking along the beach to good restaurants and bars and for a few dollars you can get a tuk-tuk to central Chaweng if you need a bit more noise and excitement. We took a taxi for about AUD10 for six adults to the Fisherman's Village in Bophut, definitely worth a visit. We didn't use the hotel's spa, we did however ustilise the services of the massage/nail ladies right by the side of the pool in a cabana. A one hour very good oil massage is around THB200.

Room tip: Pay extra and get a villa. Alternately ask for one of the hotel rooms closer to the villas.

Well, I was a little concerned about the resort before arriving as I read a couple of these reviews and a few things were worrying to us!
BUT, what a gem of a place to be!
Yes the decor is a little aged and the bathrooms too small and the wifi not free.........this is seriously outweighed by the friendliest of smiles, happy and helpfull staff, the awesome pool, the cocktails, resorts overall cleanliness.
The view over Chaweng Bay is the most beautifull and peacefull you will get on the island at these rates! The swimming in the bay from Chaba side is also the best as the beach is clean and free of sea weed and marine growth!
And the FOOD is the best in the area at the most insane pricing! It worked out cheaper for us to eat at the C Side restaurant everyday than it would cost us purchasing groceries and cooking our own food back home!
Chaba beach side massages are also the best we experienced throughout the island and are so cheap compared to the main Spa up at the resort! The ladies are professional masseurs, and you can feel the difference when you get someone less experienced elsewhere!
Chaweng beach and main road I would comfortable say is the best and busiest place and the centre of attraction for day and night entertainment! A very short and pleasurable ride on our scoot from Chaba! Anything and everything Is available!
There is a reputable motorcycle scooter hire place on the main road corner as you get to Chaba, hire the scoot through the hotel reception, this is safer as you will not be required to leave your passport with the hire place, it is a little more expensive but well worth the exercise! It is very safe to ride around the whole island and we got so much sight seeing in, in the first few days and then spent the rest of the time visiting places in more depth that we saw in the first days riding!
The shopping is crazy, barter barter barter! Some very good deals are to be had!

I seriously recommend this resort for family, couples and solo travels!

Well that's it for now! Off to Phuket we go! I'll do the Kata Palms resort review next week!

Room tip: Hire the jets kids and scooters, they will make your stay more pleasurable and build better memories! Just be careful and look after the equipment like it was yours and you won't have any problems!

This hotel was absolutely the worst hotel I ever stayed. When entering the site we were so dissapointed about safety and the dirt everywhere that we wanted to move out. The hotel did not match at all with the information on the website. It was disgusting. Food of days old was rotting in the hallway. The floor of the children swimmingpool was yellow to brown. We did not see any kids in there the whole week. Fire extinguishers were not quality approved for years, Stairs and ballustrades were rotten and airco was totally rosted and old making lots of noise!! High voltage wires were hanging out the wall in the room and sportspots from previous guests on the bed. Little creatures were living in the fridge.. has not been cleaned for a long time. There was a lot of ASBEST in and around the hotel.. Not good !! Not safe in many aspects. The Staff did not listen to our complaints. Absolutely the worst hotel on planet Earth.

Room tip: Don't even think about it. Take any hotel nextdoor they are all much better and clean.

Lovely resort though old but still decently kept. We had one of the ground floor rooms, traditionally decorated and very basic that we can just walk to the beach nearby. The pool and the sea is lovely.

We spend the full moon night here, just chilling by the beach having our own party and dipping in the sea at night. It was lovely. Breakfast here is great and have a huge variety of choices.

Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Overall very decent

Very nice resort with excellent situation at the South end of Chawang Beach. Short walk to some good restaurants, especially the ones on the beach. Friendly staff who tried their hardest although their English was occasionally a problem. The bed was a little too firm.
