It is always hard to choose a hotel based on reading previous reviews. There seem to be so many really negative reviews and then some really good ones with this particular hotel. Basically, this hotel offer a "standard" more budget room in the older wing - with no view, but also have the better rooms overlooking the pool and then the ocean view. Naturally, you get what you pay for. We chose the cheaper rooms, as we weren't planning to spend much time in the room and rather spend the money elsewhere. The rooms were clean, we had no problems with leaks, drainage, noise etc. The staff were happy and friendly, although only 1 of the ladies on the front desk spoke English, and although even hers wasn't fantastic, we managed fine.
The location is great .. right on the beach, but about 1.5km walk along the beach to central Chaweng. Maybe a bit too much of a walk for some, but again the location is easy to see on a map, so a bit of thought when booking maybe not for you if you don't like to walk, but the bus/taxi is so cheap anyway if you need. There are also plenty of restaurants and shopping market stalls up that end of the beach and the beach vendors and massage stalls are all along the beach as well.
We also chose a package that included breakfast which we found was most awesome and a great way to start the day. The restaurant staff were friendly, and helpful with local knowledge too. The pool area was quiet and relaxing.
All in all, as far as VALUE goes, I was most satisfied.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, book it from the options.. don't expect to pay for a standard ro...

Recently stayed at this hotel and was disappointed. Our room was literally half a meter from the next building looking out onto their rusty AC units. No balcony. The kind of place where the towels dont absorb water, the soap doesnt completely rinse off your hands and the water eventually drains from the sink and tub...if you're lucky. Also a long trek from the center of town which is another downfall. The restaurant was also excessively expensive and the spa was going to give us thai massages in our jeans (?!).

We had the unfortunate pleasure of checking in to this hotel yesterday. On arrival we were greeted by 2 young girls who were rude, laughing and acting as if they couldn't be bothered to work at all. We checked in to our first room a standard, as purchased through agoda. The toilet seat was broken, the bath completely stained red, there were scum marks and drips all down the bathroom, my feet were black after coming out. We were then changed to another room which was the same standard, the bath was completely cracked all the way round. We then went to ask for a refund and was told by the lovely staff that we would be upgraded. After traipsing about in the rain with all our luggage we were given another room. On agoda this room is listed as £37 - it's not even worth half. It smelt like sick/cats wee, the doors didn't close properly, there was a huge brown stain on the toilet seat and all around the walls. We left, was refused a refund and then was told by agoda that the staff reported we checked out at 12pm (it was 9) and that our room was accept bale. After 3 weeks of travelling around thailand so far this is the worst and most expensive place we have stayed in. We are used to a little bit of dirt, but this place was pure disgusting!

We stayed in the hotel for about 12 nights and I can say that this place is just for those who want to have a nice clean beach, a cosy room, great variety of different cafes and restaurants within easy reach.
I would come back to this place with great pleasure.

My boyfriend and I went to this hotel last summer. The staff was just wonderful! Cheap hotel and great service. Chaw
eng beach is 2 min away.. The only thing I could complain about was the breakfast, it was below average.
