“pool area best part of hotel, very overpriced”
Reviewed 9 October 2012

we stayed here august 2012,me my daughter and my dad.I never usually write reviews but i wanted to let people know that i found this hotel expensive for what it was compared to some of the other hotels on samui. We paid £40 per night per room and we stayed for 5 nights, basically the hotel is charging for location(right on chaweng beach) and you get little else apart from the lovely pool area to make up for the expense. The hotel is outdated by about 10 years, you can tell that when this hotel was new it was probably a good choice as looking around the restaurant/reception/rooms etc,the whole place is being neglected, which is a shame to see as it has such great potential.Breakfast was quite a poor affair,1 egg,1 hotdog sausage,1 toast and a slice of bacon with tea, juice or coffee, there are other items which you can pay extra for and the was no refills on the coffee,im no big eater on a morning but somebody who is would be starving after the palm island breakfast.Rooms are spotless and i couldnt fault them at all but they did feel like something i would only pay £15 a night for in thailand.Staff are nice though ,very helpful .All in all its mainly the fact we felt felt a little ripped off in the pricing of this hotel that made me review this hotel on here, dont mean to sound negative because there are good points too,ie the pool area is lovely, the location and rooms are really clean .

Firstly, I would say don't be put off by the other reviews. We found the service at Palm Island to be friendly, helpful and honest. There is a secure safety deposit box system in operation which we used, so we were never worried about our valuable items.
The location of Palm Island is towards the Northern end of Chaweng Beach. This means that it is a quiet peaceful spot in both the day and night, and yet you are only a short walk either down the beach or road to the main nightlife in Chaweng- perfect.
The pool is really lovely, surrounded by trees and gardens and was peaceful. Our 2 year old loved it as there are pools of different depths. There is also a beachside restaurant and bar and we found the food to be good Thai food at reasonable prices.
The rooms, although basic, were extremely clean, the air con was very effective and we enjoyed having a balcony. Nothing to complain about at all.
For the price we paid we thought it to be very good value for money.
Finally, what really made our stay special was the friendliness of the staff. They couldn't have been more welcoming and we were sad to leave.

Room Tip: We had a sea view room and thought it was definitely worth the extra money as it had a great view.

We stayed here for a couple of weeks, and turns out that they stole a watch, money, visa card, a ring... Tried talking to the management but no help, not even an apology. Anyways, i stayed here when i was a kid, much better memories than staying here now.. Not coming back.

Room Tip: Watch out for drunk russians, they attend to make a lot of noice and hell... specially when you ask...

Now it depends what kind of traveller you are for me this place was way to expensive for me. Im more of a partier so this place would not be a great location if you came to party on this island because its on the quiet part of the beach, if you are bringing your family then yes its definitely a good place for you. The rooms are clean, the food was great and the prices were great. Overall if you came to party and booze up then you definitly want to go to the busier part, if you bring your family and looking for a quit time then yes definitely stay here.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Palm Island for 2 nights only a few weeks ago. We had a lovely time in Ko Samui, however we were horrified and shocked to discover that we had money robbed from us by our bags been thourghly checked and carefully put back in the same position. We are quite upset and disappointed that this has happened as we are always very careful. We would just like to warn anyone who is considering to stay there that your bags will be searched for anything valuable and especially money as we have learned.

Stayed at Palm Island Hotel in February and the experience was pretty good. The rooms and pool area was kind of dated but it fine for the price. The staff were helpful and organised transfer and boat to Koh Tao for us. Location was good as it was close to the main action in Chaweng but still quite when you wanted to go to sleep. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I wouldn't recommend the eating in the restaurant. All in all it was a comfortable stay though not luxurious

Stayed here for a month in August. I had stayed at this hotel about six years ago when it was reasonable. Now the owner (lease holder) wants shot of it and does not want to spend a penny putting anything right.
It would take too long to list everything that doesn't work in this place,
The only thing the owner seems to have maintained is the prices he charges, not by any stretch of the imagination. reasonable for the condition of this hotel.
Plenty of cheaper cleaner
