We stayed here 28th July until 11th August 2014. There are two sides of the hotel, hillside and the beach side. We stayed in the hillside and had to cross the road to get to the main side of the hotel and beach. This was no issue at all, as you have a man to help you across even when there is no traffic. The hillside pool area is very quiet and in regards to both pools there is no issue in getting a sun bed! The hotel is located in the quieter end of Chaweng and was the perfect location for us. It is also the nicer end of Chaweng beach, less busy and beautiful water. It will take you 15 minutes to walk to busy Chaweng centre either by beach or road. The hotel provides a free shuttle 3 times a day, one way. If like us, you like to stay out late you can get a tuk tuk back to the hotel for around 100-150 baht (£2-3).
Breakfast is good with a wide selection on offer. We liked the omelettes and pastries. Food in the hotel is a bit pricey, we preferred to get food in local restaurants or from the beach people - very tasty and super cheap! Also hotel over charges on soft drinks, prices should be brought down. Happy hour on the cocktails are a treat though. We particularly loved a pool side bar worker named Sakdawad (Wad for short). He was absolutely lovely!
The room was large with a great, large bathroom. The shower was really good and the hair dryer worked really well so no need to take your own. Room was cleaned daily if requested and spotlessly clean. There are two bottles of drinking water provided daily in your room, for free, which is a really nice touch. Pool and bath towels also provided daily. There is free wi-fi around pool and bar areas but you have to pay to use in rooms. The rooms are a bit dark - brighter light bulbs would help.
You can easily book all trips via reception, who are very helpful. Just take the leaflet to the reception and they call up and book on your behalf - very stress free. Reception will also book you taxis to the airport etc. All reception staff are very helpful and the manager is very kind too.
Overall, we loved our stay at Kanda Buri and would definitely recommend. If we returned to Chaweng we would stay here again as we loved it.
