Most importantly, the staff was very friendly, and after two days, the front desk ladies all remembered my name and room number. Second, the room was decent sized and the bed was totally comfortable, invariably sleeping well every night. Location is perfect as I never needed a taxi: restaurants, bars, shopping, and night clubs abound within a half mile... easy walking distance. I recommend unwinding by the pool after dark after a long day in the sun as there is a noticeable temperature drop at night along with a sustained, substantial breeze. There is no fitness center or spa, but you can easily jog along the beach in the morning and find countless spas on every block just outside the hotel lobby.

Room Tip: It's a hike from the lobby back to the pool. If you plan on heading out to the street most days...

The hotel has a private beach, but the beach this time of year is very shallow. The hotel stuff keep it very clean, with a very good sun bad.
The rooms are Very big and has a big bath. the bad is very comfortable. The hotel looks as new, and so are all furnitures at the room.
Overall the rooms are very good!!!

We stayed at the hotel a family with 3 children's ages 9,6,2. It was the best hotel we were during our vacation, and we tried 6.
Recommend it very much

Room Tip: The corn on the beach is right next on the beach, so are drinks and massage, just go to the left and...

My husband and I arrived at Dara Samui after traveling 2 weeks in Thailand and the best hotel on our stay. We we welcomed with warm friendly people are reception and given nice cold wet towels and refreshing iced cold drinks.

Our room was ready within minutes and we were whisked away to our beautiful room. Sure, as others say, there are signs of wear and tear, but this is Southeast Asia. Unless you are paying top notch, that's the norm around here. The room was lovely and the decorations was nice. The bed was comfortable and I slept the best at Dara compared to the other places we stayed on rock hard beds.

The decorations throughout the hotel is beautiful. I love the koi ponds with real fishes and the little statues of Thai girls and boys throughout the hallways.

The bathroom is spacious with a tub, separate shower area, sink area and toilet area. The sink in tub was a great way relax with my husband after a long day walking. We appreciated the bamboo tray to hold our wine and beer as we soaked in the tub.

The pool and beach loungers are lovely. It's great to not have to pay 100 THB for lounger on a beach (patong etc.) Between 3-4 PM, the pool bar offers Happy Hour cocktail specials, buy one get one free. Prices are around 200 THB so its a good deal. There is also another happy hour between 6-8 PM.

Both restaurants on site were lively while we were there. The restaurant at the front of the hotel featured acoustic live music by a duo whereas the beach restaurant in the back offered a romantic and serene vibe. The "teepee" tent set up looked amazing. Both restaurants offered the freshly grilled seafood. While we were there, there was a promotion for 15% off coupon for dinner.

The hotel is located in a great area and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We frequented the new "Central Festival" shopping plaza and dined there many times at some of the new restaurants since they were offering 15-20% discount promotions.

I would recommend this place for couples and families. The people are friendly, the rooms are comfortable and spacious and the location is great.

The hotel located right at Chaweng Beach very Close to all the restaurants, bars and attractions.
The hotel has a private beach, and it's very clean.
The rooms are Spacious and so is the bath. the bad is king size and very comfortable.
Furniture and cabinets look a bit old But properly maintained. The water pressure in the pipes is not high. the room is very clean and the stay is very pleasant and comfortable.
Good breakfast with eggs, baked goods, vegetables, fruits, meat, etc.
We stayed at the hotel only one night but we'll sure love to stay their again when we'll back to ko-samoi.

Room Tip: guests who wants to be close to the pool and beach chooses Rooms starting numbers 100

We love Thailand and the people as we have travelled there many times but this was a sad experience. Dirty rooms, smelling of urine and mould, lacklustre hospitality and 'Garden View Rooms' of dilapidated resorts next door. Our Air-Con didn't work for the first 24 hours and breakfast was a non-event in terms of offerings. The one good thing about this place was the location, its right in the heart of Chaweng, and close to everything. BUT, the hotel is old and while it appears there have been renovations the overall feeling is one of tired and weathered. The staff are luke warm and generally the warmth you get in most Thai resorts was not there. Perhaps it was our bad luck this trip but given the amount of competition in the area and other parts of Thailand, we would never consider this resort again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

The hotel is located in the Chawen beach road. The hotel is decorated in Thai style. The front office is helpful. But the room is a bit old with no sunshine. The pillows are high . I used to have low pillows. The room amenities are not that enough. The restaurant is good. The servers are nice.

As a 4+ hotel you have high expectations and Dara is up there. Nice room with a balcony overlooking the garden. Aircondisioning and wifi in the room is good. Very nice staff that will attend to your need with a smile. Nice breakfast buffet next to the original poolarea. They have a nice beacharea just down from the pool so you have access to the poolbar from both. On the beach there is sun beds and Parasoll for the guests, and there is a nice massagearea with skilled people that take care of you for a modest fee. I miss warm water in the shower in the room. It's not that it is cold but when having a sunburn it really feel that way. And there is not a comfortable chair neither in the room or on the balcony. Lot's of stairs will be a problem for handicapped so don't come here.
So that is my 2 cent on this hotel, i would probably come back if i go to Samui again.
