Very good hotel for an overnight stop on your journey.
Don't bother with the restaurant, very disappointing.
Don't know why reviews need to be a minimum of two hundred characters as I have said all I wanted to say.

stayed here and and it was clean and comfortable for one night. there is no parking at the back of the hotel, so we had to leave the car on the street.
the room was fine, comfortable bed and clean bathroom.
was at the top of the town so we had to walk down the street to the centre for cafe and supper, not a problem going down but might be a bit of a hike for some people coming back.
but all in all a good stay.
the town is lovely and definitely worth a visit is the church and the old buildings surrounding it.

Room Tip: ask for one round the back of the hotel otherwise you are overlooking the main road going into the town

It takes smart people who can make a very simple hotel look interesting. In the rooms, glue book pages to the bed's head, stools, table etc. Varnish them. Write writer's sayings on your walls, according to the towns' committment to literature.
Make some nice pictures of the refurbished rooms, publish them on booking, and customers are due to arrive?

So, it's really a simple old hotel. We felt somewhat mislead, but on the other hand enchanted also.
And it helped us to arrive in a charming little old town on the Loire river ....

Since the other restaurants in town seemed so traditional we decided to eat there, although fish with wasabi coconut sauce? I didn't dare and wasabi isn't my thing anyway.
We took the lentils on currycream with a few slithers of smoked duckbreast, veals cheeks in blackberry and wine reduction, followed by a selection of cheeses. So what to say about the kitchen? To me, simple but tasty. Was this "creative"? In any case it was not expensive.
Ah, well, when you have set your mind to not expect too much, it ends up ok, doesn't it?

The bed was hard, so I slept badly, woke up with a sour back.

Nice little breakfast, with an extra of some fresh cheese. In France you better be thankfull for that.

The owner is really very courtious and told us an interesting anecdote: our king Albert II once slept in his hotel. At that time he was still prince and he rode his big motorcycle discovering the Pouilly and Sancerre region. See, even kings don't do more than we ordinary people!
And if a prince was content sleeping in an ordinary little hotel, why not we? ;-)

Not many options in this pretty small French village. This small hotel is beautiful in an old fashioned way. High ceilings and lots of wood. Reasonable price. But skip the breakfast. Coffee and bread and jam with cottage cheese. Not worth the 10e. Try the restaurant across the street-amazing dinner.!

Not part of a chain, this is an authentic French hotel. Nothing very luxurious but it has character and very friendly staff. Easy parking outside in a quiet part of town and a 10 minute walk down through very pretty and characterful streets to the Loire river. Excellent stopover on your way through France. Dinner was good and a room for the night plus dinner with wine very good value especially at today's pound/euro rate. The service in the dining room from the young man running the whole restaurant was excellent.

Only slight gripe is that traditional French puddings are not as good as elsewhere. Had far better Creme Brulee in London. But that is typically French too!

The room was on the small side and the window was either open or shut. Use of waste basket with books for ballast achieved quarter open to let some air in. Ceiling fan to stir stale air! En suite fine with electric flush system which sounded like some monster in the bowels of the loo happy to - well, I won't go there. It worked. Shower fine.
