“Quiet hotel close to the town centre”
Reviewed 28 August 2012

Stayed for 4 nights at the end of July.

Room was very pleasant, although I'm not keen on metal framed beds we slept well enough. It was air conditioned which was terrific as the daytime temperatures got up to the mid-high 30's, although a reasonably quiet unit we turned it off at night.
Furniture was in keeping with the building and typically French.
The bathroom was large and a little dated but everything worked. No hairdryer and toiletries consisted of shampoo and a liquid soap dispenser.
The room (No 3 I think) window looked out over the lovely terrace.
Breakfast was served at table and was the same every morning, bread, cheese, jam, croissant and tea/coffee. We much prefer buffet style with choices and fresh fruit.
Evening meals were very good with good flavours and the menu changed each day. The chef seems to think that sticking a twig of rosemary in the main course makes it 'gastonomique'. It was good but not that good. We enjoyed the house Rosé wine with the hotel's label.

We asked about canoeing on the Ardeche and was given a recommendation that resulted in a 10% discount from Arch de Noe. We requested a packed lunch, which was good value and included a big bottle of water.

Car parking is on the road in front of the hotel on a first come first served basis, but we always got a space on our return. Watch out if it is market day/evening as it makes access difficult.

This is a 'typical' french hotel that needs to modernise its service and provide it's customers with that little bit extra. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay, and would stay here again if we were in the vicinity. Although we do prefer the Drome to the Ardeche as it is far less busy.

Room Tip: If you are there in the height of summer, pay the extra for a room with air-con.

Room was clean and comfortable. A typical french restoration. So lovely furnishings but the finish could be better, bathroom basic but functional little in the way of toiletries no iron hairdryer etc. Hotel courtyard is stunning food was lovely service was good.

Arrived late and didn't check Trip Advisor - wish we had. The reviews are accurate. The food is fine, the hotel is pretty and is a pleasant location but we had room 4 and the mattress was absolutely terrible and the pillows wafer thin bits of nothing. The room is a little damp which doesn't help and I am sat typing this at 1.30 in the morning because it's so bad I can't sleep. The reception is now closed, understandable, so there is nothing to do but sit here and type this and hope I get tired enough to sleep. Don't bother unless you can sleep on anything.

Excellent little hotel, with helpful,; friendly personnel. The restaurant was also very fine. Room was air conditioned (contrary to experience of a French member; reviezing the hotel). Room for two, full dinner, and breakfast was 150€.
