“Good Location for Normandy Beaches”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2013

We stayed one night primarily to visit the American Cemetery, Omaha Beach and Pointe Au Hoc. The upper floor of the "cottage" was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable. We got one of the best sleeps of our trip as there was absolutely no noise during the night. The receptionist was helpful in giving directions to restaurants in Port En Bessin which is about 8 km away. Contrary to a previous review, we were able to get the wifi in our room. Breakfast was very good and substantial. All in all, very good value for what we were expecting.

We travelled by car and ferry Portsmouth- Caen. The hotel is about 40 minutes from the port of Ouistreham. It is not well signposted so head for the road for the American cemetery.
We were given a large newly furnished bedroom, en suite, desk area downstairs room in an area of mini flats.
The breakfast was buffet with a boil your own egg cooker that I managed to use well after a few days.
We did not stay for lunch but the signs outside said " quick lunch" I guess for the many people visiting the American museum.
The hotel served drinks in the evening until 8 pm but no food.
We found a choice of Restaurants in Port En Bessin around the harbour 15 minutes away and L'Omaha at Omaha beach 10 minutes in the other direction.
Wi fi was not possible in our bedroom so I was reduced to sitting outside nearer reception or inside the hotel.
There was a nice uncovered swimming pool in the hotel complex but it was too chilly to use it.
Our beds and basins were cleaned and made up dily but the room was not cleaned during our week.
A useful stop to visit the area but not too cosy .

This was a great find right in the middle of the American Sector. Cemetery is a short walk, new Overlord Museum across the street, evening dining options within 5 minute drive (breakfast is at hotel, lunch on own). Very quiet and nicely appointed place to stay.

Advertised as a "quick lunch" we popped in after visiting the American Cemetary. We waited an age for a table and then what seemed like an eternity for our food. Service whilst friendly enough, was painfully slow. Food was very poor too. Give it a miss

We stayed here for lunch only....thank goodness. We were on a two week tour through Europe - we travelled through 4 countries and 4,400 km and it was the worst meal we had tasted. We both had Croque Monsieur, which you would think was pretty easy to cook. The cheese was not melted and the ham was cold, followed by something that was described as a waffle! The table was dirty and the service was very slow, considering they were advertising quick food. We have the feeling that the owner was taking advantage of the location. It was also expensive and left us with the feeling that we were being ripped off. We came to the conclusion that they were relying on the fact that most people will only make the trip once, so repeat business was not a goal.
Perhaps we went on an "off day" or when the usual chef was on holiday, however, we would not visit again to find out.

Really nice hotel with lovely gardens. Wheelchair accessible and parking is close.
Great base for touring the area as it's just down the road from the American Cemetary, and the new Omaha beach museum will be open soon just across the road. Easy access, great room and wonderful and accommodating staff!

I was visiting Normandy and touring the beaches of Normandy for the first time. This was quite a special trip as I always wanted to visit and I had the added pleasure of the company of an old friend from the USA. We worked our way along the Normandy beaches and he really wanted to see the American Cemetery at Omaha beach. Right on the approach road to this special place we found this hotel. We both assumed it would be for too expensive to stay in given its location.
We were both very surprised with the room rate at 79 euros and they had a double room available. We were here in off season so I would book in advance at busier times of the year. If you are thinking of going during the 70th Anniversary in 2014 then I would book now. Reception, friendly with good English. Room very well appointed and clean with TV and free Wi-Fi. Beds a bit small but clean and comfortable. Restaurant not tried as there was a private function on. We took a short drive to a beautiful fishing village and had home made pizza watching the fishing boats. Very nice.

Room Tip: Restaurant not tried as there was a private function on. We could have had breakfast but it was 11 e...
