Located just 2 minutes drive from Matamata town centre, this is the perfect place to spend the night before heading to Hobbiton. The hosts were lovely, even going the extra mile the next day by booking activities for us using their landline. Rooms were large and clean with facilities of a good standard. Free wifi as well for unlimited devices. Fantastic value for money.

Good Morning to the both of you,

Thankyou for reviewing our motel, I hope you enjoyed Waitomo Caves after you left us, and enjoyed the rest of your holiday. It has been really quite mild weather here in the Waikato, so lets hope winter is nearly at a end.
Regards Karen

Great place, great people. We use this motel as a base when travelling and have had the odd weekend away here. Always very clean and tidy. Always very welcoming. Would highly recommend anyone wanting to stay in the area to stay here. :)

We found our unit had had the heater put on to make it cosy for our late afternoon arrival. It was very clean and the hot shower was much appreciated by these weary travellers. The owner gave us good advice about alternatives to do,when the weather made the tour of Hobbitan not an option as planned next day. She lent us an electric frypan to coo
k our steak,as there was no stove in our unit. We enjoyed our stay ,despite the weather, and were delighted by a perfect day for doing the tour on our last day.
Like the rest of the people we met in MataMata, we found the small town friendliness of our hostess refreshing and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit before returning to Auckland. We would recommend this motel if you are looking for a place to stay close to the I Site where the Hobbit tour commences. A cheaper option to travelling by bus from Auckland or Rotorua.
Thank you. Wendy

This is a lovely little motel. Real value for money. We always stay here. We were lucky to get a room as the field days were on and this is a busy time. The rooms are lovely and clean and comfortable. The owner , Karen so friendly and helpful.

Comfortable bed. The room had been heated for our arrival.

They also have two family units for bigger groups.

We highly recommend this motel.

Just outside of town you will find a delightful place to stay if you are planning on visiting Hobbiton.
The proprietors, Terry and Karen made us feel right at home and offered up some fruit from their feijoa tree. Quite delicious if you haven't tried. You might get lucky and be offered a ride in Terry's Enfield motorcyle sidecar. You are just minutes away from the center of Matamata and just down the road from the Historical Museum.

Perfect little hide away for our visit to Hobbiton! The host was extremely gracious and the room was perfect! Even the suggestion for eating at The Redoubt was outstanding! Such a great place to eat! Wouldn't change a thing!

Room Tip: Definitely eat at the Redoubt!

Hello Jenny

Thankyou for your review, Hobbiton has been great for our town and last week they started night tours on a Wednesday night so that I'm sure will be amazing to see, we have had a very wet week here in NZ, which is not so good for the tourists. Regards Karen

As usual a very warm welcome from the proprietor Karen. She is always so flexible and accommodating .The location is right on the cusp where town meets country Matamata township is only a 3 or 4 minute drive literally, so great to get away from suburbia yeti be able to take advantage of shopping fast food and tourist attractions at the same time.
This motel complex is run in such a manner that privacy is observed yet the owners anticipate and are accommodating to your specific needs I would very much recommend
