A wonderfully comfortable stay away from home in a newly built motel. The bed was amazing, the shower plentifl and plunger coffee an added bonus. All this at an extremely reasonable price. Great value for money.

A real gem, great location, close to town (very easy walk, 10 minutes max) but with the country feel.
Very clean and tidy, great beds for a good night's sleep, awesome shower with loads of pressure with multi adjustments for the rose.
Hosts couldn't be better.

Room Tip: Sounds a bit naff saying everything is excellent but it was. If I said anything thing else I wouldn...

I travel with business, and stay in many motels around provincial NZ. For me, Matariki Lodge was ideal:
- very comfortable bed with a great underlay and quality sheets, plenty of pillows
- very good shower with great pressure
- perfectly adequate and appointed kitchenette
- wireless provided was free, and was also much quicker than many others
- table/desk was large enough for me to lay out my papers and laptop, with room to spare.
- I often cook myself while away and the pots are cleanable!! Nice change from the norm.
- hosts were polite, efficient, but left me to myself. Perfect.
- Not the biggest of rooms, but clean, quiet and comfortable.

What a lovely, clean and well appointed Motor Loge this place is. Surgically clean rooms and bathrooms make a wonderful change from the "Close enough is good enough policies" that reign supreme in most places these days. The Sky decoders in lounge and another in the bedroom were a first for us as was the crystal clear picture from their quality TVs. The beds were again high quality and comfortable and the pillows were many and nowhere near the wafer thin norm.

we spent a night here recently, comfortable king sized beds, quiet unit with a good shower and easy walking distance to town. We had dinner at Lemongrass just down the road, we would recommend that too.

Thank you for your comments, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the room quiet. We often get questioned about street noise, being located on SH3, and our guests have been happily surprised to find that they are not disturbed by road noise at all.
We plan to take up your suggestion of Lemongrass for dinner soon, its one we haven't tried yet. Thanks again kind regards Karl & Deborah
