Total surprise best Eggs Benedict I've had for a long time with proper hollandaise sauce. Fabulous coffee and the macaroni cheese super tasty.

We called into Jan's Cafe to have a hot drink and a bite to eat on a Sunday morning. Apart from the lovely artwork done by the owner there is not a lot to attract customers inside. The coffee wasn't bad but we ate sausage rolls (terrible, dry and looked like they'd been in the cabinet for as long as the decor - we're talking fishing rods in the corner, dirty mirrors, last years calendar on the hook, aged wear of all furnishings). My daughters had sweets from the cabinet which they declared yummy. The owners were friendly and the service was great, however the quality of food and value for money means we won't be calling into Jan's again.

My partner and I ate here on a public holiday so it was very busy. Service was surprisingly quick but they forgot to add friendly in the rush to serve. The cafe is a bit dated and very functional, no fancy trappings here, but the food is good wholesome home cooked food, and plenty of it. We had eggs on toast and a full breakfast. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and there was no sign of grease or oil on the plate. The only thing was that under the full breakfast the toast was really soggy which was not nice but it came with extra toast and that was fine.
Jan paints and exhibits her artwork on the walls. She's very talented and it was lovely to view while waiting for the food.
This cafe won't get any prizes for glamour or creativity, but it does the basics well. It was fairly standard pricing, and yes the coffee was excellent.

Of the many restaurant choices offered on the waterfront street, my husband and I opted for Jan's cafe as it was showing home made food. we were not disappointed, the meal was delicious, the pastry and pies were fabulous. Plus the service was really friendly.

What a great brunch. Great food and friendly staff, a nice relaxed atmosphere. Nothing pretentious, nice and homely. This is the second visit and Jan maintains a very high standard.
