“Just right for us...”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We traded a time-share week to stay here, and it was an excellent choice. The 2-bedroom unit was large with lots of open space and excellent furniture. The kitchen had almost everything we needed except salt & pepper, but someone at the front desk was nice enough to find some for us. The bathrooms are a nice size, but I wish there was more space to put my stuff. There are TVs in the living room and master bedroom, good closet space, and really comfy bed. We had to wait for a few turns to do our laundry, but the machines are very efficient and not too expensive. Our ground floor unit had no private patio, but we could step right out onto the large deck that's shared. Our large picture window offered a great view toward the harbour. The beach across the street is small and rocky; water shoes help. A cleaning service was offered to us (and accepted!) for mid-week. It was excellent and free to RCI members. Excellent grocery store and restaurants nearby, so don't plan on cooking all your meals! Be sure to pick up pamphlets and brochures when you check in. There is lots to do in the area, but no tourist material in the unit. We took many drives and enjoyed the architecture, gardens, and, especially, the waterfalls. There is a great brochure that describes all the falls in the general area along with directions and other nearby things to do. We also enjoyed the Tom Thomson gallery in Owen Sound, and a little shopping in Collingwood. There is so much to do in the area, and the weather was so good while we were there, that we never even used the pool, exercise equipment, or sauna. Everyone on staff was very nice and interested in making our stay a great one. Much appreciated!

Room Tip: Rooms above the ground have their own balcony.

We stayed in a studio unit - it was huge! The unit was minimalistic in style, the furniture was nice (leather pull out couch), the bed was super comfy and the kitchen was large and well appointed. The hallways have new carpet and have a warm homey feel. Basic no nonsense kind of place but very clean. I only have one minor issue with the unit. We had the air-con on max and you barely knew it was on. This is only June with fairly mild temperatures - mid summer it will be unbearable in this unit (heat wise). Bobi of the front desk staff was great, very friendly and helpful.

We stay at Royal Harbour almost every spring.
Service is always friendly and efficient.
One call to maintenance and problem was fixed within the hour.
Great location. Lot's to do in the area. Good restaurants.
We happened to visit Owen Sound and came across Moreland Place, part of Open Doors Ontario.

Room Tip: Choice of 2 bedroom or efficiency units.

We have owned here for over 20 years. Right on the harbour. Best location overlooking the marina and yacht club.
The 2 bedroom units are very large. Plenty of seating for 6. Very clean and staff most helpful.

The area is fun to explore.

Room Tip: There are a few units that can at times be rented.

We stayed at RHR for 5 days and enjoyed ourselves. It was our 3rd visit. Our accommodation was clean, quite and relaxing.our bed was very comfortable We were disappointed with our 1st floor view of the bay which was obstructed. We also could of used better lighting to read in the evening. However I'm sure they would of given us another lamp if we had requested it. The resort is older but they continue to update as needed. The friendly staff was well appreciated.

Stayed with friends for a few days leading up to and including New Years. It's a timeshare resort, we stayed in room 309. While the place is definitely on the tired side, the wonderful view of the harbour made up for it. And I think no matter which room you get, you are going to have this view. Lovely gas fireplace to warm up the living/dining/kitchen area, which was so nice to curl up in front of, given the snow that was coming down outside. Nice kitchen, although a little on the small side. Main bedroom only had a queen, the second bedroom had two twin beds side-by-side. Having two in there must have been an afterthought, because we couldn't close the bedroom door (!!) without turning the far night table to gain some space. Bathrooms were okay, and despite other comments about problems with hot water, we never experienced anything like that. No comments about the gym or pool, we never took advantage of either of them.

Room Tip: If you're on the 3rd floor, your view of the harbour will be the best. You can't go wrong.

The front desk staff were friendly, the area is quiet and the view of Georgian Bay spectacular, but it went downhill from there. We usually do B & Bs but landed here because everything else was booked up for Thanksgiving weekend. We were given a Studio and it was definitely not worth the $150 they charged. Maybe we just had bad luck but the mattresss was dirty, the walls and ceilings had major water stains. The vinyl curtains at the windows were ripped and there was black dust on the soap and shampoo bars in the bathroom. I had a beautiful view of the sunrise but only because I slept in the car. Thornbury is quaint - eat breakfast at Wild Orchids - that was decent for the money.
