Last August I visited The Hope Town Lodge with my boyfriend and we had a beautiful time! Friendly people and gorgeous surroundings. Planning a trip back later this summer and cannot wait!

My family and I have been regular, returning, repeat guests of The Hopetown Harbour Lodge for over 15 years. Our 3 kids (now all 20-somethings) were practically raised there. My oldest daughter (now 26) taught a napkin fold to one of the lead staff in the Dining Room when she was under the age of 10. Up through our last trip last year, it was still being used. Man-Friday "Luke" is like one of the family and Gary at the Reef Bar knows us by name. Both of them have watched our kids grow up there and Welcome us like returning family. We have stayed at or visited the vast majority of all the top lodging options from Green Turtle Cay to Little Harbour (including Marsh Harbour & Treasure Cay). We have tried some others, but no other property can rival the Hopetown Harbour Lodge in terms of having put together "the whole package" from lodging to food & beverage to a family friendly or romance experience. We know! We are owner/partners in a ski resort, a large golf & conference resort, and have ownership experience in a number of restaurants from casual to fine dining. We don't write trip reviews. At least until now. In our opinion it is extremely rare to find a vacation property like this who has "out-performed" over a period of decades! We are regulars in the Butterfly House, we have stayed in the Horizon Room, and in the Pool Cabanas. The bottom line? You cannot possibly go wrong in choosing The Hopetown Harbour Lodge! We have tried the rest. No one else can compete. Period!

Room Tip: Want a Harbor view on one side AND Ocean view on the other? (And the breezes to go with it?) Try th...

We stayed in the beachfront rooms (Eagle and Flying Fish). The view was excellent, unobstructed, with great ocean breezes. Very good housekeeping! Restaurant was mediocre, for better food, take a free shuttle to either the Firefly or the Abaco Inn. Hope Town Lodge is very well located centrally in town for walking to the ferry, bike rentals and ice cream.

Enjoyed very nice vacation over July 4, 2012 week. It's a very secluded resort with one of the best beaches I've seen anywhere in the world--clean, pinkish sand and warm tides. Don't expect "Club Med" style resort amenities, it's too small and that's not really what this place is about. Friendly smiles, decent food and total peace and quiet can be guaranteed. Explore some of the bars and restaurants scattered throughout the island for a change of menu. If desiring to rent a boat I highly recommend reserving weeks ahead as the few rental places sell out quickly.

Also, if you're picky about your wine, might suggest bringing a few bottles with you as the selection can be slim on the island.

The Hope Town lodge was a good place to stay on the island of Elbow Cay! The room was really nice with a great view of the ocean. Its a good location with-in walking distance to some restaurants & shops. They have a restaurant on the premises that was really good. If we did a return trip back to the island I would think about renting a house instead. Not that we didn't like it at the lodge but for the money & what they offered you can still do/get the same from a rental house. I thought for the money per night the lodge charged a few more amenities would have been nice. The beach had no umbrellas with only a few chairs for you & would be good to have bikes or kayaks to use instead of having to rent them. Ive also been to other lodges that include a small breakfast. If you decide to stay on Elbow Cay renting a golf cart for a few days is a must! Its only a 20 to 30 drive to the southern end of the island. There's good restaurants & beaches to check out. You can also walk on the beach & go to a great beach bar/lunch place called On Da Beach. Its only a 10 minute walk that's well worth it.The snorkeling was really good on the Lodges beach so don't forget your snorkeling gear. if you plan on doing some fishing or renting a boat plan ahead & ask them to help you with this. They have all the info you need & are helpful in getting you what you need.

Very well run lodge. No umbrellas for shade and no beach chairs, but exceptional town and friendly service. Sandy had damaged beach, but fine at lower tide and also a big beach nearby. Excellent for walking. Snorkeling only so so if you do a lot of it. Nice restaurant nearby. Not cheap restaurants, but good.

returned to Hopetown after a 15 year absence, this time staying at Hope Town Lodge which we recalled from previous trips when we rented a cottage. did not disappoint in any way from the moment we arrived. Hopetown is as charming as ever and our third floor room in the lodge was perfect and spotless . Walked on the beach forever without seeing a soul, swam in the pool and watched sunrise from one balcony and sunset from another. Fernande had coffee ready early in the morning at the Reef Bar which is excellent for breakfast and our meals in the dining room were also excellent. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Are planning a longer stay next year.

Room Tip: Room 11 or 12 in lodge highly recommended (most economical)
