“Dirty, tired apartments!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Reading the other reviews we must have stayed at a different place!!! First of all they call it a hotel, when clearly it is not as there are no facilities, they are very tired basic apartments!! I know in Greece you get what you pay for, but I do expect a clean tidy apartment. The bedding was only changed once in the 10 days we stayed there, bearing in mind the hot temperatures, towels were changed every three days or so but they only provided one large towel and no hand towel, and these were dirty looking towels with too many stains anyway!! The apartments where obviously cleaned with a dirty mop as every day when we returned after the beach the room absolutely stank, even though the balcony door was left open, The apartments are really tired looking and need gutting, the taps and shower are all rusty and as for the hot water, well it was a pleasure to have a hot shower after the beach each day, but didn't appreciate the third degree burns as the water was so hot!! There was a hot water tank in the bathroom and managed to turn the water down to a sort of reasonable temperature!!! The tank sits above the loo and again this looks a rusty old thing and I dread to think what would happen if it leaked whilst someone was sitting on the loo!! The water was also so salty there and was vile to clean your teeth with. Kassiopi is a lovely place and I would return but no way would I stay here again!!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here stay somewhere else!!!

I have visited this hotel for a few years now and feel it is time that I write a review. Flora the owner is very helpful and does everything with a smile and is always on hand to help with any problems the fridge was not working properly and within a short time a new one was in place. The cleaners work very hard to maintain standards and towels and bedding are changed on a regular basis. There are many returning guest which goes to show what a good hotel this is. Although this is only a two star hotel one receives a five star service at all times. Also as mentioned by other reviewers if you do stay here you must try the Mythos taverna across the road where one also receives outstanding service and good food.

Just got back this morning from a wonderful holiday to beautiful Kassiopi. It is our 5th time in the resort over a 10 year period and there have been many changes over the years but I really hope that things are on the up again. This little hotel is a lovely walk out of the village and we booked it after seeing previous good reviews and we weren't disappointed. The owner Flora is such a wonderful lady who was very helpful to us after a mix up with our shuttle back to the airport . In fact all the staff were really lovely, the two maids Gabriella and Maria we're excellent. The rooms were cleaned very well daily and always smelled lovely and fresh after they cleaned. Typical accommodation but isn't that the charm of Greece. I would go back again but perhaps not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

I had the good fortune to pick The hotel St Spiridon for a 10 day break in Corfu Greece at the start of June 14. It more than met my expectations. I was treated with great respect and found the apartment and hotel just the tonic for relaxing and soaking in the spirit of Corfu and its laid back lifestyle. The Staff were amazing (Flora and Gabriella etc ).

Flora at the reception will phone if there is any difficulty in translation or communication for return flights or transfers. Her help proved invaluable when I needed it!!

Even though the Hotel is 2 star the staff should have a 5 star rating for quality of service. The rooms were basic but cleaned every day by polite maids who attended to any request . The setting was just as described, set back from the main centre of Kassiopi up on a gently sloping hill. There are 2 Supermarkets nearby, Niko's is probably the cheapest and served as a reference point for Trips or Taxis. There are also 2 bars on St Spiridon's doorstep, so no need to go down to the main area if you just want to relax. There is the Mythos and The Ganesha bar which was my favourite as Brad the Barman was really friendly and made everyone feel welcome.

Kassiopi is a beautiful spot with a natural harbour with small fishing boats, 3 larger boats for trips and small power boats for private hire. It has a byzantine fortress/castle which offers great views of the town and surrounding countryside. there are footpaths to secluded beaches if you want privacy. There are also plenty of bars, shops and restaurants for all tastes and the best thing is the owners are never pushy towards the tourists. I really don't think they feel the need because it's such a lovely place.

Please visit Kassiopi if you want to free your stress and wind down. You would need to go back at least thirty years to find anything like this at home. Corfu is a green and lush island with many jewels for you to discover. I could not have found a better place to go and find its treasures.

With gratitude,

Doug xx

We booked here based on the price and reviews and this lovely little hotel lived up to our expectations. We had a room with a double bed on the second floor overlooking trees and chickens - it was wonderfully peaceful. The room itself was a studio and quite small but the balcony was large and we even had a little airer at one end for our damp towels etc. The bathroom needed some attention and the loo had a sticking ballcock which meant the cistern wouldn't always fill up after flushing but luckily my husband knew how to quickly rectify this so we didn't need to keep asking for the handyman.

Flora the owner was lovely as were here cleaning staff (of two) and kept our room spotless.

When we first arrived we didn't need the air con but the temperatures rose rapidly in the 10 days that we were there and by day 6 we had to ask for it to be put on and it worked fine.

The pool is lovely with enough sunbeds although this may change in school holidays. The pool area was always clean.

The hotel is situated about a 10 - 15 minute walk to town and a little further if you're heading for the main beaches. There are a couple of beaches that are a bit nearer but there are no sunbeds. However they are so pretty and quiet it's definitely worth having a slow walk down there to explore them. Avlaki beach is a bit further down the same track and worth a stroll down there but there are no sunbeds or water sports at the moment sadly. A regular visitor to Kassiopi that we were chatting to said it was because there is some sort of tax related dispute going on.

We also spent an afternoon at Kalamaki beach which for 4 euros each return you can visit using the shuttle bus service from the Michael Angelo supermarket next door. You have to buy the bus tickets first form their reception. Kalamaki beach is completely different in that it's all sand and very shallow. There are sunbeds, umbrellas and tavernas there too.

All the beaches that my husband and I visited were different and he enjoyed the the snorkelling.

Across the little road that the St Spiridon is situated on there is a wonderful taverna called Mythos. I know it has been mentioned on here before but I wanted to add my comments about the lovely couple Tianna & Thanasis that run it. They are the friendliest taverna owners that I have ever met will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued.

Hubby and I had a wonderful holiday in Corfu and staying at the St Spiridon and becoming friendly with Tianna & Thanasis really made it extra special for us, so much so that we plan to go back again next year.

We booked this hotel in May this year as we had read mostly good reviews and wanted somewhere quiet that was self catering , we were not disappointed .Two reviewers had previously complained about the standard of the accommodation and perhaps the facilities are below British standards but if we'd wanted British standards we'd have stayed at home
.We cannot however praise Flora and her staff (of one it seemed) highly enough , we asked to change our twin room to a double , this was done immediately , the apartment was cleaned by the whirlwind Gabriella every day except on the day before we left as we told her not to bother. Mention must also be made of the Mythos bar across the road ,what a lovely couple and their pizzas are to die for again nothing was too much trouble , they even put on the football for my husband to watch and the measures of Drambuie were very generous to put it mildly , all in all a very enjoyable stay with nothing to do but soak up the sun which is exactly what we came to Greece to do .

Room Tip: We transferred to a room at the front as it had the sun for longer in the day

My Trip Advisor profile says it is OK to review this hotel although I have done it twice before and I am pleased because each time I holiday here with my husband the hotel gets better! We have just returned from our 2nd visit this year and did not want to come home (thinking of 3 weeks next year!) You will be well looked after by Flora her family and staff and will want to return-I overheard 2 first time couples saying they will be back again.
