I think what says most about Alex and Joanna's Katia Aparthotel is how many of your fellow guests will be repeat visitors. Just ask a couple of people around the pool - nearly all the people there at the same time as us had been there before - and now come back every year.

It's not hard to see why - Katia is in a great spot with a nice pool and a stone's throw from a beautiful beach. The rooms are simple but spotless, the service is friendly and the food is so reasonable, it takes a lot of effort to get out to one of the many great restaurants in the area.

It gets busy in peak months but it's still peaceful enough to relax - and you'll always get a good night's sleep.

Basically - go!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top level of the larger block - the room on the end corner has a double balcon...

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week trip to Kassiopi, staying at the Katia appartments just on the outskirts of the town. The accommodation yes is basic, but it is kept very clean and meets your requirements. The overall stay was fantastic, the apartments are managed by Alex and Joanna and you could not get a couple more helpful, nothing is a problem and Alex is always up for a laugh. The pool area is just the right size and is also kept very clean, there's plenty of sun beds to go round. Appartments are set out in a spacious garden with a lovely little beach at the bottom of the gardens, it is large pebbles/stones rather than sand so take shoes.
The food at the appartments was also of a good standard and prices were reasonable too, would suggest booking B&B.
The walk into Kassiopi is around 15 to 20 minutes but taxi is only 5 euro and its well worth going into town. There are 2 super markets within 500m so you don't have far to go for the basic shop. There are lots of small resteraunts to choose from in Kassiopi, all the ones we tried were great (Janis is a must), no complaints at all. There is a small harbour where boats can be rented and there are ferrys to Corfu Town twice a day. Looking out of the harbour you will see the coast of Albania, about 15km away, lovely setting at night.
I have been travelling to the Greek Islands for over 20 years and I would have no hesitation recommending both the appartments and the town as a holiday destination.

Had a great stay at the Katia Appartments, Kassiopi. Basic Greek accommodation but very clean, the owners Alex and Joanne work so hard to ensure their guests are happy and well looked after. Food wonderful and very reasonably priced - no complaints would highly recommend.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Katia apartments. We were a family of 7, which included 5 adults and 2 teenagers. We rented 2 studios and a 2 bedroom apartment on a bed and breakfast basis. Rooms were exceptionally clean (maid service daily except Sunday) and typically Greek style. Bed linen and towels changed regularly. The breakfast are great and cooked to order from a selection on the menu (English and continental). The rest of the food is also lovely with Fresh fish served every evening and is as good as any of the restaurants in Kassiopi. Alex and Joanna, the owners, are amazing and looked after us all superbly. I cannot praise them enough for their hard work and hospitality. The pool area is clean with plenty of sun loungers. A small shingle beach is a 5 minute stroll away through the garden, if you feel like a dip in the sea. Kassiopi is a 15-20 minute stroll away (taxi is 5 euros if its too hot to walk). Kassiopi is a beautiful town offering a good selection of bars shops and restaurants. We spent many an evening drinking cocktails by the waters edge around the Harbour. The evening boat trip into Corfu town was good too. 15 euros per person from cosmic tours in Kassiopi. Overall a fabulous holiday made extra special by the wonderful service we received from Alex and Joanna. We look forward to returning.

The Katia Apartments are just right for a budget holiday in Greece. Our studio was on the ground floor, overlooking the play area and the swimming pool. The room was spacious and fairly basic, but had plenty of wardrobe space and a nice clean bathroom with a powerful and refreshing shower. Kitchen facilities are sparse, but we had a kettle and a sandwich toaster, plus a cold fridge, so the essentials were taken care of. Although we didn't use it, there is air conditioning available at 5 euros a day. Free wifi in reception.

The apartments are a 20 minute walk from the centre of Kassiopi, up a hilly and secluded lane. The walk into town is not too bad, but be prepared for a dark and lonely walk back home - we took a torch although it was not always needed. There are no pavements for much of the way and the lanes are very narrow, so you have to walk single file and beware of the bikes.

Kassiopi village is lovely and has loads of tavernas and bars to choose from. We had Greek food pretty much every night and it was always lovely and reasonable value. Drinks are not so cheap - average about 3-3.50 euros for a large beer, but half-carafes of wine were better value at about 5-7 euros, and you can't beat Virginia's Place at the end of the harbour - beer 2 euros, cocktails 3.5 euros, nice food and amazing view of the harbour! It's also worth doing a boat trip or two from the harbour.

We didn't eat much at the Katia, as we like to go out and about, but had a few breakfasts and the odd meal there, it was always nice and there is plenty of choice if you do decide to eat there. We didn't do the bbq, as we thought it was slightly over-priced at 15 euros pp (not including drinks), but have heard good reviews about it. We did do the quiz night, which was good fun and very busy.

The swimming pool is a good size, and not too cold. Plenty of sunbeds available, although we were there just out of peak season. There are shaded areas available as well as sunny areas, so everyone was catered for.

There are a couple of supermarkets about 5-10 walk minutes away, not particularly cheap, but fine for the basics.

If you walk through the gardens at the end of the Katia, down a footpath, you come to a small and pretty beach with views of Albania. There is also a nicer beach, with 2 tavernas, about 10 minutes' walk in the opposite direction to town (Avlaki Beach) which is well worth a visit.

Kassiopi, and Corfu in general, is very green and rustic and everywhere there are plants, trees, flowers, etc. There are also lots of insects because of this, although we didn't encounter any problems.

Generally, the apartments are basic but clean and spacious and have all the essentials you need. The cleaners come 6 days out of 7 and the owner (Alex?) is very friendly and always makes you feel welcome. The standards are excellent for Greek budget apartments and they are well worth a visit.

Fantastic break at Katia! Traditional great service from Alex, Joanna and the rest of the team who went out of their way to look after all the guests. Everyone always cleaning, place was spotless. Only a 20 minute walk into town. Great food and excellent service at a very reasonable price. Would definitely use again.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Katia. The service is excellent as is the location and Alex and Joanna are superb hosts who work extremely hard for the guests. We chose the breakfast option when we booked our apartment and were not disappointed - there is a breakfast menu to choose from and the cooked breakfast is great. The rooms are basic but have everything you need - kettle, toaster, hot plate and full size fridge - and a balcony with table and chairs. They are kept very clean .

The pool area has plenty of sunbeds and shade and is very relaxing and again, kept very clean. There is a large covered veranda outside the bar with tables and chairs and also a large screen TV - sports channel on most of the time. They put on a barbeque once a week and have a quiz night on Sunday.

The apartments are located in a quiet spot but within easy walking distance of Kassiopi town centre (10 - 15 minutes). If you walk down through the gardens and down a small track you will reach a small, stony beach (5 minutes). Go out of the front gate and turn left and you can follow the road to another bay with a stony beach and 2 nice tavernas (15 minutes).

If you turn right and follow the road you will reach the Michelangelo supermarket on the right , carry on up the hill and turn right onto the main road and there is Nikos supermarket. Carry on down the main road and you will reach the town - take the right fork in the road to reach the harbour. There are plenty of shops and restaurants here, we ate at several and had good food every time. If you are feeling hungry go to Grill and Chill (on the right just before the harbour) for a Greek mixed grill. We also ate at the Katia on a few evenings and the food there is as good, if not better than the restaurants. There are several places in town to book trips which are reasonably priced. You can also walk up to the Byzantine castle overlooking the harbour - it's free to go in and you get some lovely views.

As we were only there for a week we only did one trip - the day in Albania. It's well worth the money - 31 euros for the trip, 10 euros entry tax and 19 euros to go on the optional excursion to Butrint archaeological site with an included lunch.

It was quite breezy all the time we were there so there were no mosquitos about but I hear that it is advisable to use insect repellant etc at other times. The supermarkets all sell sprays, burners and citronella candles.

In short we had a great stay at the Katia and the number of repeat guests speaks for itself.
