Let me start by first saying that appearances can be very deceptive and in the hotel polyxeni's case this is most definitely the case. We arrived late afternoon and on first site the hotel didn't appear too bad but upon entering our room i was disappointed to say the least, what an absolute dirty disgusting room it was, dusty, mouldy, dirty stained bath, mouldy matress/pillows, rusty dirty taps, dirty cutlery, rusty oven & a fridge that wouldn't close let alone keep anything cold. I witnessed the cleaner on one occasion taking dirty towels out of rooms and looking to see if they looked clean and then folding them back into a clean pile of towels.. disgusting!!! Fortunately for us we had taken our own towels. We tried our best to arrange a move to another hotel but sadly this wasn't possible. After the lady running the hotel (tulla) discovered we were unhappy she confronted us very aggressively about the matter but was not sorry in any way and did nothing to help with the matter. Myself and my family have visited corfu on many occasions and accept that sometimes accommodation can be a little basic but in the polyxeni's case it is a lot more than that, it is dirty & poorly maintained. They hardly serve anything in the pool bar no ice creams for children and prices for the same drinks can vary each time you purchase one. All in all i would simply say spend your money elsewhere as you will go home regretting ever booking to stay here, we had to spend 2 weeks in this hell hole :( I think it is appalling that travel companies can even advertise this place and try to fool people in to thinking its something it is not, for one it is most definitely not a hotel more like a hostel but even that is being generous. In the end we spent most of our time either on days out at aqua land water park (which is fab) etc or at a lovely pool 5 minutes down the road called amadeus hawai, there you will receive a warm welcome and a lovely clean pool/area. There are some great places to eat in sidari we especially enjoyed the smugglers inn & cactus jacks definitely worth a visit if you are planning a holiday to sidari as is the beautiful canal d'amour. I hope this review prevents someone form making the mistake we did by coming to stay in this hostel, Just avoid it do your research and there are plenty of lovely places to stay in sidari. Happy holidays :)
