“Wouldn't Stay Here Again”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

We weren't really supposed to stay at this hotel, but unfortunately we had to stay for one night, as Thomson had mixed up our booking - we were supposed to be staying at the Stema Studios next door. However, whilst they were sorting that our we stayed here.

In terms of cleanliness, we couldn't really fault it. The room was basic, but adequate. The beds were like lying on a slab of concrete and you only got one pillow (no further bedding available apparently) and the pool area and bar was nice.

Our major complaint was the owner himself. Although reasonably friendly to start with, he ripped us off to the tune of approximately 50 Euros in respect of drinks. My boyfriend did take this up with him and he basically told us we were lying and to piss off. He soon backed down the next day when the Thomson Rep came to speak to us and move us back to the hotel we were supposed to be staying in - as he suddenly remembered that his hotel was part of the Thomson approved hotels and was worried about what we would say - then it was lots of free drinks all round.

Thoroughly unpleasant man and it did sour our first evening on a very special holiday.

Room Tip: To choose a good room, I'd choose a room in a different hotel/apartment complex.

can not really fault the theodosia, clean rooms but the cleaners let us down a little, never had the bedding changed and only swept, mopped once and towels changed once, they also had the balls to leave a pot to leave them a tip.....!
the only down side we could find was that the place has a field full of goats to the rear and another at the side with horses, this attracted ALOT of mosquitos and a good few people where being bitten badly in the night, during the day you could see droves of them in the air. you will also hear constant cockerals day and night and dogs that bark for hours on end.
i didnt think much to the quality of the pool water, always seemed very cloudly.
i purchased a packet of cigarettes (marlboro lights) from the behind the bar, these are fake and will strip the skin off your lips, took me two packets to find out why my lips where red raw and sore.
would we go back again........? NO.
the thing you really really need to consider when going on any greek holiday now is the expense, i spent over £700 in a week, the food shops are expensive and petrol is around 1.96euro a litre (around £1.60 in our money) yes we did hire a car which we got from "island travel" opposite the taxi rank at the end of the main strip cost us only 120euro for 6 days. my next greek holiday will be either half board or full board, no way will i be doing self catering again.
you will find the restaurants are good value for money and never had a bad meal anywhere, the el greco at the end of the drive is very good and also the first two that you come to has you turn left out of the drive very good.
overall the greek people are very nice and polite, this was my 5th holiday to corfu, three of them in sidari and i think this will be my visit to the island.

Room Tip: away from the pool, ask for the rooms at the rear of the complex.

We stayed at the Theodosia in June 12 for the second time in 2 years having found this hidden gem in May 2011,.Our transfer from the airport got us in to the hotel in the early hours of the morning but the owner (yanni, who is very friendly and speaks good english and loves his Football) was up and waiting for us, He showed us to our Studio apt which was well equipped with all of the usuall basic stuff and very clean and well appointed.these apts are a little off the beaten track but a short 15 min walk gets you into the centre of Sidari, Yanni's family and staff were always around in the background, leaving you to your own resources if you wished but were very helpful if you reqiured it, The Pool was immaculate and never crowded and even if it was busy there was always enough loungers to go round, Will definately be going back in the future..

I have to stress if you're looking for a luxurious holiday this hotel is not for you, we simply wanted a cheap-as-chips, no frills get away to any hot country we could find. Our expectations were low but on arrival we were pleasently surprised.

The rooms are spacious and all have air-con (you have to pay 30/35euros per air-con machine but its worth it!!)
Its in a nice location, its about 10/15 mins slow walk from the main strip and away from any main roads. Although, the path you walk up - wear mozzie spray! I dont even want to know what is in the grassy fields.

The pool at the hotel is nice, there are plenty of sun loungers so no over crowding. The bar at the hotel is cheap and does reasonable food. I advise not ordering the garlic bread. I dont think they know what garlic bread is as what came out was a burger bap with a LOT of chopped garlic on top (one way to ward off the mosquitoes.. and people..)

On the bad side we found the maids useless.. i have no idea what they did. Every day they would come in and fold my bed sheet into a square. They didnt change the bedsheets at all (I knew this as mine had a moth hole in it and I also got eye make up on it) They did however empty the bin in the toilet and mop the middle of the floor (not the edges though).

Self-catering means eating-out unless you are Bear Grills and can do wonders with a 2 ring stove and a microwave.

We did enjoy our stay and found the family who owned it nice and helpful. The trip from the airport is fairly long though.

I really enjoyed my weeks stay here at the Theodosia! I had fairly low expectations due to Thomas Cook describing it as 'no frills' but i was pleasently surprised.

The hotel has a great location. It's about a 10 minute walk to the main Sidari strip where all the nightlife and resturants are. The hotel is situated just off the main road about 4 minutes walk down a dirt track. Yes Thomsons don't drop you off directly at the hotel but its literally a 1 minute walk from where they drop you off to the hotel, so some of the other reviews on here are a bit dramatic saying you have to walk down a long alley in the dark. There are shops, supermarkets and resturants along the 10 minute walk to the main strip as well as a beach with a view of Albania in the distance, which makes for a pleasent walk.

The hotel is nice. Our 2 bedroom apartment was way bigger than expected. The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but fine. The shower curtain pulls across half of the bathroom, even crossing across the toilet so the floor usually ended up being fairly flooded after a shower but that wasn't really an issue. Don't tug on the shower curtain too hard though, i managed to accidently pull it down off the wall. Oops.

The pool area was lovely. Very clean area and the pool was awesome. A few dosy wasps crawling by the pool at times but that can't be helped. There were plenty of sun loungers available and as the hotel is set backa little bit there wasn't much noise so it was a nice relaxing atmosphere to sunbathe in.

The bar area/cafe part was also nice. They play music all day which is quite nice and have a big screen they pull down at times with UK tv/news on. I only saw 4 members of staff there. It seems to be family run with a married couple, their son and then 1 maid. They are very nice, but fairly reserved with their conversation. Don't let that put you off as they are actually very helpful and putting in a lot of hours and hard work. In response to someone elses review the man was fine with us asking for more toilet roll all the time. The food was all cooked from fresh and was all very nice! They had lots of cocktails and drinks to pick from also and everything was resonably priced.

The maid never changed our sheets the whole time we were there which was a bit annoying. She would unmake the bed and then just fold the sheet at the end of it which seemed a bit pointless. I'm not sure what else she did except from that and possibly mopping the main areas of the floor and emptying the bin. Nothing else seemed to be cleaned. Lots of cobwebs in the room and even spider eggs under the seats. The room was clean on first glance but taking a closer look and it just really needs a big dust and proper clean. This didn't ruin anything for us though.

There is an area behind the hotel, or rather behind our room, where there are animals grazing. This was only a problem at night when we were kept up by horses neighing, a really annoying bird that wouldn't shut up and a rooster that would wake up at 5am. This kept us up at night.

You have to pay for air conditioning. 35 euros per room. So if you are staying in a 2 bedroom apartment you will be charged 70 euros for 2 air con machines. To be fair the man let us have them for 60 euros but still.

Our Thomsons rep may aswel have not exsisted. We were told our rep meeting would be in the bar so we showed up on time to be there for it. Only to realise that the bar they meant was actually at a different hotel! It would have been nice for them to specify that. So we missed the meeting. The rep showed up a different day but ignored us and just spoke to another family. Don't bother doing any excursions with Thomsons, they are over priced. You can get much better deals with Valeros Travel on the main strip.

So overal, this hotel was nice and i would reccomend staying there. Make sure you pack mosquito spray!!

We stayed here in July 2012 and absolutely loved it. We weren't expecting very much based on Thomsons 'no frills' rating so our expectations were exceed when we got here. The family running it were lovely and the lady cleaning the rooms was very kind and even put in a mosquito plug for us, gave us extra pillows and occassionally did our washing up! Amazing! The pool area was clean and over the week we were there the most amount of people around the pool was about 8. So there were plenty of sunbeds available!
The studio was comfy and clean and had everything we needed for a base.
The Theodosia was about a 10 minute walk from a lovely little beach, supermarket and some gorgeous restaurants serving amazing greek food.
The main resort of Sidari was about a 20 minute walk away and the further you walk the livelier it gets so there is something for everyone.
We loved every moment of our holiday here and it was perfect for chilling out and the Theodosia was an excellent spot to stay in.
We would definately go back. It was ideal!

We stayed at the Theodosia in mid May, Room was spotless, bed linnen was changed once in our week stay and towels most days, Maid came in everyday.Yiannis wife even put roses in our room, which was a lovely touch. Pool area and gardens were kept realy clean and tidy. Whe we arrived were dropped off at the end of a dark lane we wern't happy but that was no fault of the hotel that was Thomson, as another tour operator came right up to the hotel with the bus. Thomson were useless we never saw a rep and on our departure the bus was almost 2 hours early Yiannis had to come to our room for us and i was in the shower nice of them to let us know they were going to be early. We stayed round the pool most days and ate in the bar the food was realy good. it was lovely and quiet because it was away from the main road and bars but only 5 miutes walk to everything. The best thing about going in May is that the trees, grass and hedgerows were covered in fireflys it was realy romantic and pretty. i would deffinately go back to the Theodosia. Sorry i have not put review on before now i thought i had
