“Lovely holiday - but would NEVER EVER stay here again”
Reviewed 4 August 2011

My boyfriend and I have just come back from the hotel apartments in Sidari. As soon as we arrived at the hotel we where checked in to our room only to find that our toilet was broken. On there part they did fix it straight away. Our room was quite spacious with a balcony. The fridge was disgusting when I say it had mould growing out of it I wouldn’t be over exaggerating. I have attached an image of this. We where told it would have cooking facilities however when we arrived we where told we couldn’t use the oven for health and safety reasons. On the door it had a list of things that the hotel said they would do e.g. change sheets and towels every 3 days. They didn’t once get changed until I went down on the 8th day to ask why this was. This was the only time they changed it and replaced it with again dirty towels and sheets. The towels had stains on it so I would recommend bringing your own extra towels. The pool was clean and was nice to sit around. The hotel was situated in a nice spot so you could walk to town easily and you couldn’t hear the noise from the lively atmosphere when you returned. The hotel didn’t provide toilet roll or cleaning equipment you have to provide it all yourself. The hotel staff where useless. The owner’s son (probs around 2) is free to run around the hotel and I even once saw him hitting one of the guests and the parents (owners) didn’t do anything. However he was probably the most entertaining thing that hotel provides! We once ate breakfast there and I had a vegetetarian omelette and it was half oil half egg. It really was terrible. My boyfriend had a FULL English breakfast consisting of a sausage a piece of bacon an egg and toast with no butter or jam. The woman who isn’t married to the owner has the worst social skills in the world. Incredibly rude and unhelpful. Myself and another couple who we met on holiday kept asking for our rooms to be kept so we could do a late check out all week so that we could shower and store our bags. We even agreed for just one room so the four of us could share. However each time we where told that wasn’t possible. We where leaving at 5.30 in the afternoon and we had to check out by 12 as apparently guests where coming at 2. By the time we left nobody had arrived. There is no where to keep luggage we had to leave it outside and when I asked is there anywhere to put our hand luggage as it had important things like passports and tickets in there we where laughed at. I was also refused to use a plug for two minutes in the reception area. Air con is charged at 7 Euros per night. It was incredibly hot at night without it. We got bitten a lot by the mosquitoes. There is no safe in your room.
My boyfriend and I made the most of our holiday and had a fantastic time wondering around Sidari and joining in with the activities it has to offer. Besides the hotel the holiday was fantastic and I would go back to Sidari. But certainly not to this hotel.

Just got back from a excellent holiday at the San George. The weather was very good, the island very beautiful and the staff very friendly.

On arrival we we greeted in a friendly manner by Jonathan, who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome throughout the stay. The room we were taken to was very clean and spacious with a view over looking the pool area.

The hotel is situated perfectly with a 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach or the start of the main strip which is very lively. But if that's not your thing then on the way down to the beach there are a number of little taverna's to eat which offer excellent home cooked Greek food, which never failed to satisfy.

However the food at the hotel is really nice and offers a wide range of foods from home cooked Greek food to cooked breakfasts. The bar and pool area are clean and open late, and very reasonably priced so you never have to leave the hotel if you really want to relax.

Overall, very relaxed which creates a good atmosphere between everyone staying there, Emma and Achilles are always willing to have a chat or a joke(as are all staff members).

Would I go back, well to be honest I never wanted to leave!!

Rob. Portsmouth.

We arrived very late at night but clear instructions were posted for us to find our room and come morning we were very warmly greeted by Emma and the staff. The staff were always friendly, taking the time to chat and really helpful. Whilst we didn’t cook in our room our friendly German neighbours cooked most nights and so you can obviously do a fair bit with 2 hot rings! The hotel is very cheap for food anyway and it is delicious, some of the best meals we had all holiday!

The room was lovely, very spacious. Yes it’s kind of basic but you get what you pay for (possibly more when we compare it to a much more expensive hotel we stayed in a couple of years ago on a different island!) We took a couple of decent knives and a chopping board and had some lovely lunches! The hotel were having some trouble with the maids but our room was cleaned every day, with new bedding once a week and clean towels every 3 or 4 days.

It’s a lovely 10 min walk into town. We would stick to eating off the strip as the food was lovely and cheap. (The bars on the strip seemed to serve cheap frozen food and the Mexican was the worst we have ever had!) One for the Road had a great rock night and would fill you up with copious amounts of free booze if you sat at the bar! The shop closest to the hotel had everything we needed and was cheaper than those on the strip. Only downside locally is that we didn’t really like the beach which wasn’t too much of a problem as the hotel pool was great!

Folks mentioned previously about loud music and for most of the holiday we slept with the balcony doors opened and didn’t hear anything. With a gorgeous 2 and a half year old think the management are keen to keep the hotel quiet and relaxed, but would always chat happily with us when we returned from dinner every night!

The only excursion we did was Corfu Town at night, very cheap at only 6 euro each! Lovely sights to see and really enjoyed a hot chocolate at the Liston. Glad we did it at night though as it was very hot when arrived in town at 5pm but cooled down as the evening progressed!

A great holiday!

We were really pleased with our choice when we arrived, we had a pool side apartment, literally on the pool. Lovely one bed apartment that could sleep four.
One thing i would say is dont bank on cooking anything decent in here you literally have a stove and a frying pan with a saucepan so very basic. Hot showers all the time and Greek TV. There is WIFI in the reception area and if you sit by the pool, it is free WIFI which is great.
Its about a 10 min walk into town which is nice, lots of clubs for young groups and entertainment for older groups and families. Tip for any clubbers... dont go out before 12am and always make sure one of the promoters gets you in the bar as you usually get a free shot. Sugar bar is good and so is calypso... then on to ice bar to party until the early hours.
Lots of excursions in town too... would recommend renting a quad or car and going to sunset beach just outside of sidari probably about 2km so not far....
Would definitely go back, it was a budget holiday and we got what we paid for.
Everything was clean. Another tip take your own condiments and a sponge and some washing up liquid if you can along with t-bags!
Full english was 2.50 euros in the hotel which was nice.... pint of local beer is 2 euros have it with lime and it tastes great!

Staying here for 7 nights. Paid £108 for a spacious 1 bed room apartment for two. Not much by the way of equipment in the apt but so cheap to eat out here. Breakfast in apts only 2.50€. free wifi around bar and pool area just need code. Cheap bar and bigger measures than outside. Pool is decent size, plenty of loungers and it is very clean Staff very friendly, especially Achilles. Will be back here again soon.

Really nice hotel & a great location but let down by simple things

Things like damaged or simply missing mosquito screens and no Wi-Fi.

Not just no free Wi-Fi like many other places in Sidari but none available to guests at all! Not good enough in this day and age - especially when the owners have it for themselves!!!

Plus there seems to be the common trait of staff/owners getting sulky and less amenable if you don't spend all day, every day drinking and eating in their bar. It was funny seeing other guests drinking in other hotels bars and the same happening for most hotels - like everyone moves one bar down to avoid any hassle.

The positives really were all about the location - far enough out to not be bothered by noise, close enough to enjoy a quick walk into lively Sidari. The evening food here is MUCH better than the rather mean and usually luke warm breakfasts. The free house wine was horrific.

They adverse as self catering but on arrival you find our the ovens have all been disconnected for so called health and safety reasons lol

Overall it is a nice place and I would actually stay there again they simply need to get on top of ESSENTIAL maintenance like mosquito screens, offer free Wi-Fi and to back off a bit and learn that some guests will eat and drink there more the less you pester them!

There have been some very positive and negative posts on here and other websites so I will try to summarise for those wishing to book or those going in the next fer weeks. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages and you tend to relax and not care about the difficulties in true Greek style!
Good points :- A beautifully landscaped apartment complex built into an attractive olive grove hill. Pool area built into the middle and of very good quality, air beds and some toys etc provided. Plenty of sun beds although people have taken to putting towels on to reserve them. Not too rowdy or quiet. The built environment is of high quality! Pleasant bar and lounge area with Sky Sports etc so you can watch footy matches etc. Low and competitive prices at the bar - 2 euro for local beer. Excellent value meals 5 euro's for a starter (usually garlic bread) a main course (choice of 1 Greek and 1 English) a desert (usually melon with squirty cream) and a glass of wine. For the money this was excellent value and very nice. Street lighting up to door - torch not need as suggested in some other reviews elsewhere. Nice and helpful staff and owners.
Disadvantages :- The main disadvantage is the pitiful self catering facilities. Not all people will have the same equipment problems as it varies considerably between apartments. For 3 people we had 2 rings (as advertised - however the temperature control was non existent they were either on or off) 1 mug and 1 small cup, three rusty knives none which could cut crusty bread, one old fashioned blunt rusty tin opener, one frying pan and one saucepan, two teaspoons and two desert spoons. What we did not have was anything like a sharp knife, a chopping board, a kettle, a toaster or grill, enough bowls (had to use plates for cereal).
Air conditioning is a bit expensive at 60 euro's per week. Apartments lead off the pool and bar area which forms an amphitheatre and echoes noise around - if you like quiet to sleep you will need air con and shut the door. If a bit of background music and talking doesn't bother you, you needn't worry, it isn't rowdy. Standard of repair is not good. Freezer box door on fridge had come off freezing things in the fridge (dangerous if you were cooking meat) mozzie mesh on door broken on most apartments and mozzies are a problem in Corfu.
Beds were a bit hard but that is fairly standard over there.
Cleaning and housekeeping was thorough for what they did, but haphazard in terms of what gets done (hence mixed reviews). Our sheets were not changed for 2 weeks but others changed every few days. Some days floors swept some days mopped. We watched the cleaner wipe the floor, the inside of the bin worktops and wipe over a cup with the same cloth. Bins were however emptied every day.
Summary
These are posh pensions with a pool or a reasonable hotel complex. THESE ARE NOT SELF CATERING APARTMENTS. Bring your own stuff and you will have a great time.
