“Excellent holiday”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

Just arrived back from an excellent holiday at Sidari Village.
Thanks to Mammapogue for the tips.

We arrived at around seven at night and found the staff to be very helpful, taken to our rooms via the minibus, nice clean rooms, towels changed daily, kettle and fridge provided, tv shows two english channels, ITV and BBC news.

Food always a good selection at each meal, only had potatoes twice in a fortnight, particularly enjoyed the squid. Selection of hot meats served each evening, wine, lager, tea, coffee and soft drinks served with main meals, good range of salads, desserts were yummy.
The snacks were cheese pasty's, sausage rolls and sandwiches, although we didn't have the snacks as the meals were filling enough, ice cream in five different flavours was available all day too.

The pool bar was the bar used, except for when it rains and then the roof top bar is opened, think this is an excellent idea as I could imagine the roof top bar getting very hot and uncomfortable in hotter weather.

Camelot bar opens later and is a payable bar, seems a waste of a bar during the day as it could be used as a sports bar showing football and other sports, still charging for drinks as the people wanting to watch football had to go to the Lagoon bar or onto the strip.

The pool was kept clean, it was quite deep for non swimmers or young children but there was a small pool for children.
Didn't have a problem getting a sunbed each day.

The entertainment team were excellent providing daytime activities which included aqua aerobics, water polo, killer pool and a daily quiz. There was a activity centre for the children too.
The night time activities included kids hour, cash bingo, name that tune, quiz and then for the last hour it would be a cabaret show or family fun hour.
Congratulations to Kirsty, Mark, Emily, Carly and all the rest of the team for keeping us entertained, the name that film charades was hilarious.

The drinks were limited to two per person at a time but that was quite sufficient. The list of cocktails were fun to try and you could get whatever drink that you wanted within the all inclusive range. Glasses during the day were plastic for obvious reasons but at night they were glass.

Sidari is a beautiful place to visit, the view from our balcony was breathtaking, we visited Canal D'Amour and got some great photos of that and Albania, also some good shots of the lightning storm that occured while we were there.
We went shopping on the strip and were surprised to find that we weren't hassled by the shopkeepers at all, the restaurants and bars were touting for business but weren't pushy, which was refreshing compared to other resorts we have visited.

In short friendly staff, clean hotel, great facilities, good food and plenty of drink.

A couple of bad points, not enough toilets around reception and the pool.
When it rained our hallway in our room flooded, ( the rain was torrential and for one and a half days), we told reception and they cleaned everything up and gave us extra towels to replace the ones we had put down to stop the flow of water.
The dreaded hill wasn't that bad and could be bypassed by using the stairs or the bus which runs from 8am til midnight.
Be warned mosquitos and wasps are aplenty, take plenty of spray.
We had a power cut, which wasn't the hotels fault as the whole island suffered.

Overall I was very happy with the hotel and the facilities, however Cosmos who we travelled with were abysmal and I wouldn't recommend anyone travel with them, we had a catalogue of errors from start to finish, which the hotel and others sorted out for us.
I will return to Sidari Village in a couple of years with the children and grandchildren, but I shall make sure I don't travel with Cosmos.

We travelled 19 Sept - 26 Sept as 4 adults (2 couples) and we picked just the right week regarding the amount of other guests.
The entertainment was really good during day and in the evening. It was just enough for an atmosphrere but not over crowded. I'm not sure how they cope peak season as there is only 1 poool and not a massive dinning area or entertainment area. The entertainment team really try hard to talk to everyone and get people involved if they want to take part. Its mainly singing, dancing, bingo and quiz but there was also a night where they get guests on stage. They involve the kids too which was really good. There were a lot of wasps around the bar after the sugary drinks and mosquitos so wear repellent.
The food was your typical all inclusive range but one of us is a veggie and enjoyed this menu more than other places shes been to. Over all the food was fine.
There is a steep hill but there is also a bus so its up to you if you walk but it is hard work in the mid day heat! We had 2 days of extreme thunder storms but that didnt stop the entertainment or the bar from anything, it was business as usual.
The beach is about 5 minute walk straight across the road. The 1st beach isn't the best as theres a bit of seawed but its fine if you dont want to walk to the better coves. If you walk further down, about 10 mins left, there are more coves and really nice areas to sunbath looking out to the fantastic rocky veiw. The sea is so salty you basically float and its very shallow for a long distance out. The main strip has your normal souvenir shops, supermarkets and bars. The bars come to life at night but I wouldn't say it a place for clubbing.
Over all I would recommend this hotel just not peak season.

Room Tip: I think all have a sea view but the further up the hill you go the better it is

i have just come back from this hotel and to be honest it was the worst hotel i have ever been to.now i am not a selective eater but the food was revolting,i payed all inclusive but ate out after 4 days because i couldnt stand the smell.then you have the hill.i never heard this mentioned in any review i read.it is not a hill its a very steep road which is uneven and going up it 2 times a day was enough.we went for a week and the last 3 days never had hotwater for a shower.nobody explained why or even tried to fix it.we had a power cut on the last day at 5 o clock in the morning and i left at 9.00am and still no electric.the tv in my room didnt work, the shower broke, the tiolet stopped flushing and the sink broke.the light in the room kept flashing all night when turned off.the area around it is stunning and some better hotels/apartments around so go somewhere else.they had no skysports or any other sky channels for people to watch and had 1 tv in the lounge.the animation team where nice people but did the same things every night.kiddies time 8 till 9.9 till 10 bingo.10 till 11 cabaret night then up to the camelot bar half way up the hill.camelot bar never opened until team had finished with outside entertainment.the staff all worked hard to make it a holiday for you but it was useless.ny the way me and my girlfriend are 49 years old.the pool was nice and the pool bar was good.well thats my true opinion on this hotel.

Except for the mosquitos at night, which I have already reviewed, Panorama hotel at Sidari village is an excellent place for families. Just don't walk about in shorts at night unless you like being mosquito fodder!
My next health concern is chest infections acquired from recirculating air in the fuselage, a Thomas Cook plane in this case.
36 hours after landing my wife and son developed debilitating chest infections which lasted until 3 days after we got back to the UK. My own chest infection developed after the flight home and I have still got it.
Who is saving money at our expense by not changing the air filters frequently enough and / or not letting in enough fresh air at -25 degrees C which takes money to heat up?
Every time we go on a plane one or other of us gets sick, and its's not just Thomas Cook planes either.
The situation is disgraceful and its about time legally binding ISO standards were developed and applied to the number of microbes allowed per cubic meter of air during a flight.
When did you last see anyone with an electric pump taking air sample in a plane during live use with real passengers in it?
Do Pilots get chest infections too or have they got the windows open !?
They must be on their own air supply otherwise they would be permanently off sick. What are the sickness records of the flight crew like, pretty bad I would think?. Better air quality could reduce company sick pay bills.
Time for intra company cooperation on improving air quality in aircraft is long overdue. As usual voluntary regulation fails to cure the problem and this is against public interest, all for the sake of the sacred cash cow.
With the rise in drug resistant TB and proven cases of cross infection in aircraft how can you allow this situation to exist for one second longer.

Room Tip: Try to get in the blocks at Reception / Pool level. That's blocks 1, 2, 3, 4. Othewise its the m...
